Mariners Squad - HAL 11 - 2015/2016

No no no

Was horrible at Perth.

Did you genuinely watch him? Perth were good most games - strong season - probably their best to date and he did not look remotely out of place when on but fell away in the face of a very good squad and lingering hammy injury - which can be very hard to shake mid season and at 32 while on a big slice of their salary breaching cap.., letting him go made a lot of sense.

Faded at WSW.

Was a stand out player for them.

We need a #10 most
2nd an experienced CB
3rd a striker

Agree.

4th a real goal keeper
5th an old winger

Disagree.

Who is coming off the bench for fab and austin??

But the real point is that we actually need ALL of the above - though maybe not a keeper. Tinker belle and Bray deserve their chance.

...a sub he will be handy late as both Austin and Fab do tire and need to be...,

^^^ this is actually vital. Because while we dont have experience, we actually have more depth in every other position. And yet our two flyers are the two most neccessary and likely subs each game at present.

BA- please see above in your quote - was easier to respond that way,

FFC. Agree on obvious value of an experienced CB - shouldn't be an either or discussion though - but i do think with posc mcging ascroft and uskok that theyre unlikely to prioritise a CB when we have just lost several attacking players.

And tbf, cant see how they have this one too wrong. Wouldn't have mattered who we had in defence last week in the second half... We were raped because we had no one who could come on and keep the ball up field after our two wingers and bingers ran out of legs and still having no real #10.

Hersi...

Well, we'll see. But personally im excited. He's proven at HAL level and at 33 is still not too old to be able to hope for a couple of good seasons. And we could obviously do a lot worse than a player with over two hundred games in the Eridivisie.

David Williams next please.

EDIT: just read your post GRA, :postcount:same same, could have saved myself some bother posting.

Don't even remember him... but sure if his heart is in it, bring on McDonald.

Not sure about Saba.... he sounds like he has a massive chip on his shoulder toward proving himself in the Aleague and especially against Popa..... Walmsley is a pretty savvy psych based man manager and could probably motivate the f**k out of this guy along with Brice?

Is anyone else thinking that these new signings are going to arrive and..... surprise, surprise not be match fit?

To be honest I know Hersi was a good player, and he may still be. But I don't think he'll draw people to the game if that's what the Mariners are thinking.
I don't know about the rest of you, but for me to drag somebody along to a game it would have to be a bigger name than that to get them there.

He could be decent but what he is complaining about in terms of work load we really need him to do to fit in with our system. He complained about not being able to roam for the ball, could we really allow him to do that? And to be honest even when he did have the ball at the Wanderers he never looked too great.

I see Saba was complaining about Poppa being a bully...dunno about that, BUT Poppa did get into a punch up in the tunnel at a Socceroos qualifier...so his got a temper of sorts

Yes it seems like a few players that will need some time in adjusting to the team.
However Hersi at his best is great and I see a good combination between the portugese speaking Fabio and Saba.
Bring them on .

TW said on the YAPC that he is looking to bring in experience at #10 with a visa player with A League pedigree and above, an offer was made pending a medical, given the media report now you would have to say it is Hersi.
Although he previously played on right AM, I would assume that TW intends playing him at #10.
Fans have been complaining about lack of experience/known quality, TW stated the signing was intended to ''lift spirits'' rather than fill the stands.
The issue is fitness, Hersi had surgery on his hammy in Perth in Dec 2014 and hasnt been playing since, hence the local medicals.

I'm kind of hoping the next signing will be "announced within 48 hours" because they are playing this round, and has current a -league experience, not a player who couldn't get a contract so far this season...

Forum Question...

In a 442 structure the 10 plays in front of the diamond of the midfield 4..

We play 4 3 3 ... with Austin and Fab out wide and I assume a strike in front ... does a 10 in a 433 sota play in front of the middle 3 ... so the structure becomes more like .. 4 - 2 - 1 - 3 ... if this is the structure Flores could excel as for Hersi he may as well especially if he had a free hand however Hersi could also cover both Fab and Austin out wide as when they come off other sides don't feel we have much to offer and defensive players become attacking players...

11..........9..........7

.............10...........
.........8........6......
............................
..5.....4.......3....2..
