Rumour of Brad MacDonald coming back. Always thought he was underrated and with Micky Neill potentially moving positions to midfield we will need cover there. I'm guessing if it eventuates then he is a replacement for Sim which is probably the idea. If Sim doesn't go in Jan then i can't see him getting a contract beyond this season. We really need some genuine quality if we are to get anywhere near the 6 though. It's only 8 points away and 2 top players will make a huge difference.

Tell me more about this boy Trent! Everyone seems to be excited by him, what's the deal? Where does he play on the park? What kind of player? Etc etc.

All this hype is making me nervous :)
Small, fast, can play as a striker or wide. Won't give any aerial presence but will get in behind defenders and certainly has an eye for goal. i wouldn't want to be a Centre-half chasing fab, Austin & buhagiar all game that's for sure.

That's great about signing some good young potentials I am all for it but we need some balance.
What about some experienced players please .

Feels great to have another local lad given his chance and join the squad. Happy with these three signings in the current circumstances, now for some experience and quality in our spine please CCM.

Seems some good things can come from coming last and the pressure that brings...
  • Forces the issue and brings underlying problems to the fore.
  • Makes ignoring those problems very hard to do.
  • Reveals character.
  • Reveals character.
  • Reveals character.
  • Find out who your friends are.
  • Sorts out the fair weather fans.
  • Gives you the opportunity to make an amazing comeback and really piss off all the haters and Pea Heart FC Judas's.
If we strengthen with 2 0r more quality recruits...
TW to get us into the finals.
Do that and I wouldn't put anything past us.

Ducks for cover:unsure:

Nothing to exciting there. Makes good runs but poor touch doesn't dribble at pace well and skied a few (he's perfect).

As a striker you might want more than one goal in your highlight reel.

Comes up for a breath, as a coastie let's give him ago. Nothing to loose.

You aren't going to sell memberships if bring in a Marquee now. Run out the season cheap.

Fitzy might be interested in the Jets, the only place he might get a start. Clearly no longer in our plans as unsellable.

The problem for these lads is they thought they had an out via the super issue. I'm sure other clubs were keen when thought a chance of getting them for nothing. Now not so much

Caceras has his girlfriend at WSW so might be keener than normal to get back to Sydney but he is no hope of playing. Stick him on the bench or car park until transfer window closes then wait for him to come back with his tail between his legs and earn his spot back if it's not taken first

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Anthony Caceres could be set for a move overseas with two clubs looking to sign him during the January transfer window.
The transfer saga involving the 23-year-old midfielder has taken another twist after one club from Europe and another from Japan joined the race to sign the want-away player this month. After attracting interest from rival A-League clubs awaiting his release from the Mariners, it's understood the overseas clubs have entered preliminary discussions with his management and could trigger his release clause of $500,000.
The highly rated midfielder is eager to leave the struggling Mariners and requested a release from the final years of his contract. Caceres is on the outer having been dropped from the first team and forced to play with the youth squad by coach Tony Walmsley. The club is actively looking to part ways with the player but only for either a significant transfer fee or a trade deal with a rival A-League club and are reluctant to let him leave for free.

Mariners' winger Nick Fitzgerald is also understood to be looking to part ways with the club in the January transfer window, having sought a release.
The Mariners boosted their squad with the signing of former youth team player Trent Buhagiar who becomes the first player to graduate from the International Football School linked with the club. The signing of the 17-year-old is a historic moment for the club highlighting a relationship between the school on the Central Coast leading to a development pathway to professional football.
Buhagiar joined the school in its inception three years ago before progressing through the Mariners' National Youth League team. A local to the coast, Buhagiar was ecstatic to sign his first professional contract with his local A-League club.
"For my whole life I've been playing on the coast; it started at under fives with Umina Eagles through to the 13s where I played with Southern Ettalong, then on to the Mariners Academy," Buhagiar said.
"Last night I was watching a movie and Tony Walmsley called me up and said that there was an opportunity for me to get a contract and start training with first team full time. I told Mum and Dad straight away, who were stoked with it as well. It's going to be hard training full time, the International Football School has been great and given me the opportunity to kick a football every day."

Yes, but you'll very likely sell less memberships next year if you finish with a cheap and nasty spoon. Not to mention all the other things like bad will, loss of reputation, loss of confidence in the managers and the vision, possible sponsor and recruitment issues... The entertaining Mariners will be a hard sell if we finish where we are now.

We don't have to spend a fortune, but enough to bolster the squad to be able to make a decent go of it. We do have lots of promise in our young squad, we're only half way, 8 points off the six... a lot can change over the next three months.

I find it amazing how quickly people are willing to stick the boot into players based on a couple of coach comments without knowing the full story.

Both these guys (while not being superstars) have given a lot to this club and while they haven't filled their potential, deserve to be spoken about on a better way IMO.
