As to why the coaching staff is pissed at him, well I don't know exactly. And if anyone does for sure then I'd love to know ...

. i obviously don't know for sure (and perhaps you want confirmation that he has been 'talking') - but it should be no surprise that the coaching staff would be pissed at him ... for the same reason most of the fans are

. he has had ample opportunity as a 'number 10' but repeatedly fails to play as a number 10 ... sitting too deep, failing to setup the forwards and generally shirking responsibility (like heading out to the sideline we are on the edge of their 18-yard box)

. after watching him closely for one disappointing first half performance (along the lines of the above) i was glad to see him sitting much higher in the return from half-time. i figured that somebody had 'had a word' at half-time ... but it lasted about 5 minutes and then it was back to old habits. that would piss me off as a coach too

Yeah you may well be right. Except that I don't think you get separated at training because of that... that sounds like something else. Mind you as someone else quipped, not like he and Fitz couldn't do with some shooting practice.

That really does nail it. Watching him drift wide like that has driven me mental also.

BREAKING NEWS: Bray & Stella join Mariners

Tony Walmsley has bolstered his playing stocks with the signings of 24-year-old attacking midfielder Francesco Stella & 22-year-old goalkeeper Alastair Bray for at least the remainder of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 Season.
With the January transfer window officially opening on Tuesday, the Mariners’ two newest recruits will be immediately up for selection leading into Hyundai A-League round 14 against Melbourne Victory.

Stella, who joins the Mariners after a short stint with Victorian Premier League Club Avondale FC has Hyundai A-League experience with Melbourne Victory where he featured seven times during the 2012/13 Season.

As a teenager, Stella signed his first professional contract with S.S. Robur Siena [Italy] where he spent three years before taking the next step in his football journey to Glasgow Rangers F.C. in Scotland.

Stella’s most recent professional contract was with Thailand’s Sisaket F.C. but the young attacker has been training with the Mariners’ since November, whom he is delighted to finally sign with.

“I’ve been here training since the start of November and with the window opening it’s finally official,” Stella said.

“It was good to get to know the boys and build on my fitness and I can’t wait to get stuck in. I want to prove to myself that this is the level I deserve to be playing at.

“I want to really build on the last game we’ve had, I want to contribute what I know I can and see the team move forward. I’ve really enjoyed it here so far, the atmosphere at training is always good, facilities are good and I’m sure with the team picking up its form it will get better and better,” Stella said.

Bray is a former player of the year winner with Melbourne Heart’s Foxtel National Youth League team and provides depth in Walmsley’s goalkeeping ranks with Paul Izzo departing on Olyroo duty today.

The 22-year-old shot stopper recently signed an agreement with Victorian Premier League outfit Green Gully from Bentleigh Greens, a Club he played FFA Cup Semi Final football with in 2014.

Bray has been training with the Mariners’ for the past three weeks and is proud to have signed with the Yellow & Navy.

“It’s a great honour to play at a Club like this, they’ve obviously got a rich history and I’m really excited to get started,” Bray said.

“I’m really loving it here, I’m working hard every day at training to try and prove that I’m ready to go and hopefully I can get selected, I’m buzzing to get started.

“The first thing I noticed was that there’s a great bunch of lads here and they were really welcoming to me and ever since I arrived it’s been even better, there’s a really good culture here,” Bray said.

Head Coach Tony Walmsley was delighted to add two new talents to his squad and hinted that there could be more news on the transfer front during the January window.

“We have a couple of signings to report with more to come, Francesco Stella has signed, a former Melbourne Victory attacking midfielder who played in Thailand and of course with Paul Izzo away we needed to add to our goalkeeper ranks and Alastair Bray has signed, a keeper with some great prospects,” Walmsley said.

“We’ve added some depth to the squad with those two, we’re very close to announcing the signing of a young player and we’re also in the market for one or two more players depending on how things play out financially over the next couple of weeks.

“Both players are available for selection, Stella can play anywhere across the forward line, upfront, in as a 10, very very technical player and Ali Bray is going to figure in the squad, whether he starts or acts as cover for Tommy Belle, we will make that decision later in the week.

“They’re impeccable [personalities] Stella travelled with the squad to Coffs Harbour during pre-season and we could tell straight away what a fine young man and a player he is. He’s a great character to have in the dressing room, the type of person we want.

“Ali Bray is the same, we don’t recruit players we don’t do our research on,” Walmsley said.

Played as a right sided midfielder at Victory. Will probably see him get a go from the bench first-off rather than a start.

I'd be surprised if TW changes the starting 11 after they got the win against the Nix, they've all earned to start again. (exception RO'D) as we don't need more players dissenting & sent for 'shooting practice'. ;)

Had a quick look at his youtube thingie, looks to me like they may have fiddled around with him as CAM at some point as well... Tbh looks like they played him wherever they were short on coverage...
The video DOES show that he can get around Sim though - for whatever that's worth ;)

I haven't seen Stella play but he seems like a good pick up if he can be a creative outlet. Bray I think is a good goalkeeper if a bit short but I think better than Izzo. He could be a real star for us though I think on last weeks form Heward-Belle should start against Victory.

Might have to play Stella upfront if Roy gets sometime to work on his tan.

Can't continue to press from front with either Heffernan or Bingham

Dunno though.. Haven't actually seen either play fully in o'Donovan's role have we?... Personally I think it'd be interesting to see what could be done if someone like Stella can actually provide a CAM-type function to feed them reasonably.

I wish the new recruits all the best and hope they shine. But honestly on paper, we are now a weaker squad than what we started the season with....
We have the leakiest defence in the league and we need this addressed.

So, a fairly reliable source tells me that Caceres is effectively a done deal to Sydney. Expected to be confirmed by wed/thurs next week, they'll be paying out his contract which is approx. $125,000 I'm told.
Apparently this was the situation when Cac got told to train separately and he wasn't pleased with how TW handled it. Not sure I'd have acted terribly differently if I were coach but you never know what really goes on.
Of course this is just what I've been told, but as I say a fairly reliable source.

Not sure if there's any relation to Fitzy's being benched or what the deal is there.

On an unrelated note I heard new nickname for Izzo - 'the vampire':
because he's scared of crosses

I didn't think any money at all, was supposed to change hands between the clubs?
It's a measly offering, to my mind, but someone suggested that he was one of the more likely sources of the game plan leak to Sydney if that's the truth, good riddance and hopefully he'll eventually end up somewhere that he'll learn some lessons about morals - not sure that's Sydney FC though ;)

Isn't that how Nix finally got their hands on McWhizzel
