Saying rumours of him to WSW.

Been negotiating a settlement and when couldn't agree Mariners pulled the breach of contract card.

They think he will be out within the week

Not reddy related but apparently we trialled Yitay Towns this week

A-League could be about to see an influx of Tasmanian players

The A-League could be about to see an influx of Tasmanians.

Currently, Andy Brennan of the Newcastle Jets is Tasmania's only representative in Australia's elite soccer competition, but Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) CEO Mike Palmer said that could be about to change.

"We've got a bit of a supply line happening at the moment and it's a bit of a golden period really," he said.

"We've got a number of players who are almost ready for that level," he said.

A number of talented young Tasmanians are expected to push their names in front of A-League recruiters over the next few years.

One is Launceston's Yitay Towns, a 19-year-old from Northern Rangers who has just returned from a trial with the Central Coast Mariners.

"The intensity was a lot higher and the fitness level was a lot higher and everyone just wanted to impress, I guess, to get the spot in the team," he said.

The Ethiopian-born midfielder was offered a second trial with the A-League club but could not attend for financial reasons.

"Just the money side of it, having to pay for your flights and accommodation," he said.

"I'm a first-year apprentice as well, so it's a bit tough to get that up."

Towns now looks set to join Olympia's Luke Eyles in Victoria's Premier League competition next year, with Avondale Football Club his likely destination.

"They've asked me over for a couple of weeks in the next couple of months just for a few training sessions and a bit of a preseason for them and see how that goes," he said.

Mike Palmer said it would be unlikely for a player to go straight from Tasmania's Victory League to the A-League.

"I think there's a step in the middle - you'd have to be supremely talented and ready to go straight from there to A-League," he said.

FFT think the local competition has reached a level where young players can use it as a launching pad to impress Victorian clubs with the end goal of an A-League contract.

He plays for my old club. Did really well in the Victory League last year, got MVP for both the club and league. He and another kid, Harry Thannhauser, trialed for CCM youth.

This team-of-the-year article details Yitay's season a bit - http://sliceofcheese.net/2015/09/01/playstation-4-victory-league-team-of-the-year/

"Yitay Towns (Northern Rangers)

A no-brainer for the midfield three for the team of the year. The Mitsubishi Medallist was undoubtedly one of, if not the best player in the league this season. He broke into the Rangers side last season but somewhat lurked in the shadows of Captain Todd Hingston but with Hingston gone in 2015, Towns found his feet.

Towns, 19 had a break out season for the Northern Rangers this year, becoming a key driver in the Rangers midfield, gelling well with Harry Thannhauser. The young midfielder emerged this season as a Rangers danger man with his silky ball control and creativity, he also posed a goal threat – netting ten goals including a hat trick and two braces.

Towns was a standout for the Rangers in an up and down season, his form a key definer in the club holding ground from 2014 to finish again in fourth position."

I don't think Pain would dislodge Caceras. He is great sometimes and has good energy but he hasn't really progressed.

I think the lack of coin is having a far greater effect on the squad this year.
With the Reddy /Eddy go! attitude it would free up some much needed $$$$$$$ but I`d hate for it to continue to the likes of Monty & Rosy for instance.
Losing good club stalwarts in bitter circumstances would only send the club backwards & get the fans offside.

Personally don't rate Connor Pain seems to be a bit of a one trick pony, using his speed to get to the by-line then a quick cut back. Could progress in a different environment and I think he would have under Gombau but I'm not sure if Walmsley can turn a player's career around yet. I'd be chasing Bradden Inman in England former Tottenham Hotspur youngster and forgotten Aussie abroad isn't being given a proper go with Crewe and his contract runs out at the end of this season. He's twice the player Connor Pain is and fits in as a playmaker as well as a winger.

Hmmm, from what I'd seen I thought Pain had good feet, speed, strength and decent decision making? But anyway, moot discussion.

As to the 2nd (mouth) shooter. A senior at a club full of juniors... leaving who... the new stalwart captain fantastic? The quiet, focused and likeable left back? Or a notoriously big mouthed defender struggling for selection in a club thats been shopping him around and talking about entertaining football even at the expense of it's defence?

Didn't exactly need Poirot on this one did we.

Reddy was terrific on field for the Mariners, he's a very good keeper, and I was happily surprised he seemed to settle so well. But really it always felt like he and Boz were odd ducks here, with many of us feeling the no dick head policy was being breached, or at least widened through the Aloisi sized hole in it.

I'm beginning to doubt the likelihood of Wilko coming here more now though...unless he's prepared to take a large and, for him, unnecessary, pay cut

I think that's unfair on Aloisi. He came to us for half a season because Singo splashed the dollars. He was offered >$1m a season by Sydney and not us; who can blame him for taking the cash?

He went there and talked up his new club, had a shit season and a stormer and won the double.

Some comments in one interview aside, I can't really fault him.

Not true. If we offload Reddy and Bosnar who is reportedly on 10% of our entire budget then we can afford him quite easily. Still very good friends with Hutch and lots of connections on the Coast.
