ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Smithies has that wrong in his article.Reddys Instagram pic is tagged at Anna Bay so the no mattress thing was definitely part of the boot camp.
There's no problem with it.The whole idea of an army style camp is to see who breaks and who can cope.Seems as though Reddy couldn't.There's plenty of sports science around now with Brice here.

Seams stupid...they are Footballers not fighters.

Anyone else here at Maty Ryan's 1st game

(Preseason against Sydney at homebush)

He gifted the ball to Brosque to score.

We all thought "oh shit"

Turned out ok though.

Have faith
I was at that game. He wanted to pass across to Patrick, but scuffed the kick.
Never saw him do that again though.

Very interesting 'reading-between-the-lines' when watching the 'Walmsley Insight' video just released. Particularly from 45 secs onwards. Clearly has a focus on exposing youth to senior football and a team selection based on certain character traits.

Seems to me like Tony has very little patience for jaded senior players who think they are bigger than the club. Understandable considering his background and the clubs direction of producing an income stream from youth.

Also understandable though, is that senior players may feel unwanted as a result.

My guess is the current fracas is all about that.

A no-brainer, but the club needs to find the right balance between youth and experience.

Great if the club gets good money from its youth development, but as a supporter, it's all a bit pointless if it means we are always on the lower side of the A-League table.

Having said that, I would prefer playing attacking football than be labelled 'Boring Mariners'. On the evidence of the past two games, we are hardly boring compared to last year. We just need time for the defensive structure to sort itself out. Because at the moment we are in danger of being labelled 'Leaky Mariners'.

I'm worried they are going to far and future senior players won't want to come.
We need to be careful not to become an AIS styled team.
The fans love attacking football but a time will come when leaking goals and loosing will make it uncool.
Especially since we have to pay them the same under the cap system. We are going to produce over paid youth.

I'm not - it is simply a matter of the right senior players.

Josh for instance seems ideal for the style. Monty seems to be fully on board. The next oldest are Roy, Heff V2 and Fab. Again - all meet the attacking, pick up undervalued players philosophy.

To add one that doesn't fit the mould is if we could nab Wilko. The reason I would make him an exception is that I think we sorely need someone of his calibre to mentor the young defenders.

So Caceres has backed the new style.

The leaking to various journos continues but until Ray Gatt gets involved I would tend to not take much notice.

All I hope is that Izzo has a blinder tomorrow.

Without really knowing the full ins and outs of the situation two thoughts come to mind;
1. remember all those championship winning clubs who won trophy after trophy by not having a manager or coach and just letting the goalkeeper dictate the style of play?
2. I do remember watching some cracking games involving Kevin Keegan's Newcastle United in the EPL. They always leaked goals but backed themselves to score one more than the opposition. Wasn't a fan of the club per se but enjoyed watching them play. Could that be us? Maybe i'm dreaming!

If ever a big game and result was needed from the whole squad its tomorrow. A draw or a 2-1 win would do very nicely with Izzo safe and solid. Result a-side, the intent and energy levels will need to be evident to keep the cynics at bay. Walmsley needs a fair crack at this.

On a completely different point, can I just say... Clarkie in a Smurf uniform just isn't right, but I've NEVER seen anything as wrong as Matty in anything but Blue and Yellow... :(
- That's not meant as a statement on whether he should be playing for us or not btw, just a statement of how very wrong it is that he's playing for someone else ;)
