ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hopefully we will have some coin to replace these 2 (Mane and Kim) in Jan. Not entirely their fault but i think these 2 have disrupted our season so far more than we realise. Mossy was trying to play these 2 into our system and by the sounds of things neither were particularly good for morale either. Some of the comments are a bit harsh on Sim. He's done pretty damn well in a first A league season and with a bit of luck (and a little more composure) would have won us the game at the weekend. He gets into some great positions ,has a great attitude and workrate but is still not a starting player at this stage IMO. All the signs are that he is worth sticking with and for now he is a decent squaddie but i think with a full season behind him as a pro footballer can keep improving and make a decent mark next year.

Definitely agree about decent squady but not a starter. Is a guy I'd like to have around, but I rate Fitz and Vernes quit a bit more on the wing comparatively.

Still the only player in the squad i don't like is Cernak. Awful touch, holds on to the ball too long, can't pass too great either.

But he gets to the goal line with great pace and sets up Mat Sim for the winner...:(

so i suppose then he'll only be remembered as "that guy who scored 4 goals in 1 game"

You probably could have scored 4 against that side. Mossy would have shaken his head against their park the bus tactics:piralaugh:. Rees was good the rest were worse than woeful.

that said there were 9 other 'better' mariners out there that night that didn't or couldn't score 4

It was exciting. I was listening on the radio.
But that game aside he doesn't deserve to be starting.

From what I understand, if a player is released midseason his wage is still counted in the cap to the sum of his release fee.

The FFA Prescribed Form "Mutual Termination of Player Contract: ( at http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/about/statutes-and-regulations/v8ny0w805ua61q3r7u1yowg2v ) says this:

Note: The Club must pay the Player at least all amounts owing under the Profesional Player
Contract up to the effective date of termination, including match payments, superannuation and
any other bonuses or entitlements

It seems that the sum total of all payments to all contracted players would be included in the cap figure. So only the unpaid portion of the terminated player's salary etc. within the cap would be available for re-use. ie. there may then be an unspent portion of the cap which could be used for new hirings. So the contracted amounts must be apportioned on an annual basis, I guess, it's probably done on a cash spent per annum basis. Only because there could be contracted performance payments included in a contract for which the payment trigger is not reached. That's my assessment of it anyway.
