You think maybe this is a problem with Phil Moss. My understanding is the players don't want to play for him and are looking for a way out. This also won't be the last.

Mate you certainty post some doom and gloom stuff... I understand Marcos pleaded to stay Bonsar wanted to stay and some players let go wanted to stay.

Given we are not one of the worlds top leagues and all teams have small squads .. you think players want out .. we have ACL matches ... you have also claimed in the past to be in contact with people who wish to fund and take over the Football club...

I can see you must be a big fish on the Coast and be in the inner circles of whats going on the Coast...

If MC is blowing us with this "denial" & it turns out weemacs already gone I won't be renewing my membership.

He's an absolute cnut. The tweet from the Mariners today in regards to having to get info from senior management says it all. He's obviously doing whatever the f**k he wants to with his club.

Letting Flores go was a massive mistake you chumps, we are the community club and we let the best community player slip through out fingers to go to our rivals... can't even express how angry I am at that.

The Mcglinchey fiasco is the straw that broke the camels back, a camel who was already loaded up keeping my faith in the current administration. Sorry guys, but you need to start undoing this to get my faith back, I'll support til I die but I'm allowed to express serious disappointment.

Fix it, chumps.

Letting Flores go was a football decision made by Moss. I agree he was great for the community engagement & will be a massive loss but IMO that loss will not be on the field. I can't be angry at the club for football decisions. But yes, McClinchey's situation should be labeled a fiasco & is very much for me the straw that broke the camels back.

I can see your logic with the footballing side of things and you are quite correct, apart from that sublime pass fr Dukes goal against WSW in the openers I can't honestly say he was a world beater for us, but I guess I was willing to overlook that for his over all package. I love what he has done for the community and I knew he would be brilliant the first time I saw him sing the traditional team song when they were touring earlier last year.

I'm also bitter because I have the jersey he wore against Adelaide framed and on display in my pool room and now it's a Jets player

I am not a big fish, just involved in the game at grass roots level and a football fan who talks to people in the know. Even some inside the Mariners staff who can't post on here (or anywhere for that matter) but will tell you information.

I personally am going to hold off on my tantrum and see where we end up at the end of the season. After 9 years of loosing players, low key signings and beating everyone you'd have thought some of you guys would have developed a little faith!

I fully expect we will have a great year. Again. No doubt. But it won't be because of these revelations, it will be in spite of it.

Loaning our best player to sell him because we need the cash only to release him to a rival when it doesn't work. IF it happens like this, & with MC denying it in the media while CCMFC don't know what's going on..............well. It doesn't really inspire you does it.

I'm assuming the NZ newspaper report wouldn't contain quotes from Weemac if he didn't actually say them. It sounds from that he wants to work under Ernie.

Hmmm, I should perhaps have been a bit more clear with my question, apologies... I was referring specifically to this bit:
"It sounds as if he doesn't rate Mossy as a good coach, or at least not a good coach for him."

Here is the original story from FFA which was removed regarding WeeMac including a tonne of quotes from WeeMac himself.. Charlesc**t is kidding himself if he thinks we believe there are no talks. Bloody lies.

After a footballing journey that has taken him to Scotland, Australia and Japan Michael McGlinchey is headed home to New Zealand.

The Wellington-born 27-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Phoenix after securing an early release from his loan period at J-League club Vegata Sendai.

McGlinchey was on loan from Hyundai A-League side Central Coast Mariners, for which he made 121 appearances, but has opted to join the Phoenix rather than return to Australia.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Phoenix,” McGlinchey said from Glasgow where he is taking a break with wife Rachel and nine-month-old son Max.

“Results may not have gone their way last season and there were a lot of injuries, but I was impressed by the football they were trying to play.

“In two of the three games the Mariners had against them they outplayed us.

“The Phoenix have always been a hard team to beat but Ernie (Merrick) is also turning them into a good side to watch.”

McGlinchey said a factor in his decision was knowing a lot of the Phoenix players through the All Whites.

“When I was with the All Whites last week the lads said they thought Ernie would get the best out of me,” he said.

“The only thing missing last season was goals, but with the right sort of service someone like Brocks (Jeremy Brockie) will get 10 to 15.”

McGlinchey left Wellington as a one-year-old when the family returned to Scotland after his father Norrie had played for Stop Out and Hutt Valley United.

Brought up through the junior ranks at Scottish glamour club Celtic, McGlinchey was persuaded by then coach Martin O’Neill to turn down a contract with Manchester United, but unfortunately O’Neill left soon after and the youngster was sent out on loan to Dunfermliine.

Does McGlinchey regret that decision?

“No. I was 15 at the time when United invited me down to Carrington and offered me a four-year contract,” he said.

“Celtic was a top club and, being a Glasgow boy, they were all my heroes so I was happy there.”

Released by Celtic in 2009 McGlinchey joined Central Coast Mariners and remained at the club till going on loan to Japan earlier this year.

Now he is heading to the city of his birth.

“I always felt I would end up playing in New Zealand like my Dad,” he says.

“I want to help the Phoenix win things because the Wellington fans deserve some success.

“I like the make-up of the team Ernie is putting together this season and the All Whites boys tell me everyone at the club has bought into his philosophy.”

Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick is delighted to have secured McGlinchey’s signature, saying the midfielder was just the type of player he had been seeking.

“I was looking for an attacking midfielder, someone who could play No 10 or out wide, and Michael fits the bill perfectly,” Merrick said.

“He is a hard worker but can also provide quality, accurate passes to the strikers.

“Michael is very experienced having been a regular in a very good team and playing in two Grand Finals. He is also an established international player who has played in the World Cup finals for the All Whites.

“He might not be flashy but is a quality player who can also provide top-class delivery at set pieces.

“In my opinion Michael doesn’t always get the credit he deserves.

“Midfield is the engine room for any team and he is a real worker. I think it is major coup for the Phoenix to get his signature.”

Good point.

Also, this latest debacle does not appear to have been instigated by the Mariners. They can't control what McGlinchey says, or what FFA releases, or what NZ media print.

Contract negotiations are always done in secret until there is ink on the paper. If the Club is holding back with announcements, and McGlinchey is remaining silent, they are perhaps the ones acting professionally.

The issue I have is that the Club appears to be selling its best players yet again with no sign of building a competitive squad (in contrast to the other clubs).

And if transfer negotiations are well advanced for McGlinchey, now that the cat is out of the bag, the Mariners probably would be better off in fans eyes to be frank, admit it and move on. And not treat fans like mushrooms.
