ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Ben Kennedy looks at life after A-League and opening an academy to help next generation of goalkeepers
Kennedy, after 11 years at the Jets, has spent the past two seasons with the Mariners. He is in talks about continuing but is not holding out for another deal.

"If I don't end up back there, that might be it," he said. "If so, I can't complain about the career I have had. I won a title [with Newcastle], played over 150 games and picked up player of the year once each at the Jets and Mariners. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the career, but we will see what happens."

So Kennedy seemingly still an option if whoever Stajcic wants to sign falls through? That's disappointing.

Haven't heard anything more on Nash...

Seems very strange that he was announced as part of the staff and then days later is goneski.

I wonder if the several jabs at the goalkeeping department that were made at the forum sunk in, Antoine was very clever in deflecting any times that a single person was identified for their failings.

Gone to where? The rumour is he was on 70k per week with a year left on his contract. I think the Championship would be the right gig for him now and maybe Villa can get a couple of Mill for him.
f**k me i wouldn't want him at qpr .
But leeds can have him

Posters on Inside Sport are claiming that Marconi can pay more for Duncan then we can.

That doesn’t surprise me. He can also supplement his football income by other employment because he is not full time.

Grabbing an experienced keeper for minimum wage is near impossible. Keepers don’t mature until later and are at their best in their thirties.

By that stage they will have settled and most likely have a family.

How are they supporting a family on minimum wage?

HAL min wage is 64 + super. So it's actually more than most people earn. Especially on the coast. Plus they don't work 40 hrs a wk so in effect their hourly rate would be more than the avg wage.

Doesn’t go far when you are supporting a family. Coast prices are no different to Sydney prices and more expensive on some things like dining and shopping.

Hourly rate doesnt really matter if you can't do other work or opt to do overtime. I agree with mick it just doesnt go far these days, factor in likely career disruption and spells without work for a partner relocating and you may not be talking about a great household income. A mortgage costing over 2000 per month is the norm now even on the coast. I can see why it would be hard to keep anyone in their late 20s onwards on that wage.
