ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Jedi is a risk absolutely at 35. Is a DM whose key skill is screening and interception as much of a risk as an AM or striker whose key skill is pace, I don't reckon.
Can we afford him? Well after like 10 yrs in Europe and at 35 money shouldn't be his main concern. Would he get a marquee spot at any team here, I don't think so. Could we equal other teams offers, nope.
Would he be interested....? That's the main question. If say WSW and SWS would be the main teams that appeal.
All in all I'd be sounding him out personally but wouldn't be expecting anything.

Suspect that any speculation is a waste of time.
He hadn't even said he is coming back and if he did he will demand big dollars

He does want to come back. Just a question of timing. He said he would stay if he got a contract from Villa so that his kids could see him play EPL. They are unlikely to offer one.

Other EPL clubs may- even the newly promoted ones. Other than that he sounded like he was ready to return.

I heard a few people talking on the train on Friday about the Sydney FC releases. From their conversation it was obvous they had not been to a Mariners game for at least a couple of seasons. The parting comment from one though was I hope the Mariners can get the rebuild right this time.

I think Mile would be a shot in the arm for these type of 'missing fans' - but we need to be careful. Firstly, what does he want to do. Is he going to be the face of the SWS team in 20/21. If he is not then that clears the way a bit. If he is then that will be a distraction for us this coming season.

I'd love to have him back for next season - and wouldn't it be great to have a penalty taker you can rely on. But we would have to be careful of what his plans are beyond next season.

The other point is I do not see MC looking at it unless the new independent A League is a reality and he can get a better percentage of shirt sales to recoup the cost.

Mile has said previously that he wanted his kids to play EPL,surely the next best thing for him would be to want his kids see him play A-League and to live on the coast where they all could have a great lifestyle too...

As much as l would love to see Mile back here, it's an extremely slim chance of it happening. I think being sceptical about how much he'd cost and him being 35 is fair, but if he was even the slightest bit interested in coming back here, we'd be silly not to explore it.

I am super confident we will not be signing the bloke who was captaining the Socceroos until he retired from international football - regardless of the fact he used to play here, he would be MAD to come here at the moment.

Its a nice dream, but lets be realistic.

I will be happy if they can recruit a couple of european players we have never heard of, in the mould of Broich/Berisha. That MAY be achievable. But to think we are a realistic chance of signing a player who would be the pinup of the League - ala Cahill or Kewell, is fanciful.

Don’t be surprised if he retires, his Motherwell stint was even worse than here.
Clearly lost all passion for the sport.
