ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

That doesn’t surprise me. He can also supplement his football income by other employment because he is not full time.

Grabbing an experienced keeper for minimum wage is near impossible. Keepers don’t mature until later and are at their best in their thirties.

By that stage they will have settled and most likely have a family.

How are they supporting a family on minimum wage?

I think they are talking about Zach Duncan from Brisbane Roar.

Posters on Inside Sport are claiming that Marconi can pay more for Duncan then we can.

More than we can or more than we're willing to? If we're losing out on a player to an NPL side rather than an A league side that suggests to me there weren't a lot of other A league offers on the table and perhaps we're right not to over commit to a player. Anton talked about spending smartly so if Marconi wants to pay overs for someone maybe we didnt feel it was good business getting in a bidding war.

Also people want to dig the boot in to the mariners and thats what we get for years of poor performances but can't doesn't need to mean we can't afford the bloke outright it could just be with the other pieces they're juggling right now they don't have the certainty to offer more at the moment.

Apparently Pavlovic is getting around $2,500 a week at Mount Druitt, you can see how that sort of wage would mean playing NPL plus having a decent day job would make a minimum wage, $64,000 contract rather unappealing.

Didnt imagine there was that sort of money in NPL. Thats insane for a part timer.
Guess the money is also seasonal.

There is actually alot of money in those clubs, primarily funded by the juniors, parents pay through the nose to have their kids play for a "rep team".

I played under 19s for a state league side back in the day when I was 16, my parents had to pay $350 for rego, the following year I played under 17s for the same club and it was miraculously $550.

And this was almost 15 years ago...

Allegedly Marconi's salary bill in the year they got out of NSWPL2 was $1m

Am I the only one that finds that incredibly laughable and borderline embarrassing?
What’s the point in spending that much? The max prize money for winning anything at NPL level doesn’t justify it. Either does any FFA cup progression.
Anyone know what the money is for winning the aleague? I’ve always wondered... is there anything?

Anyway... Olly Bozanic was at the COE today in his Hearts gear training/hanging out with Monty and Tim Knight. Which he does every time he comes home.
I hope he comes home one day.

Mirjan Pavlovic plays up front for Marconi and apparently makes 2 and a half grand a week and then gets a goal bonus every time he scores. Marconi have more money than us easily.

Oh, you beat me to it. Marconi not Mount Druitt. 34 goals in 54 games for Marconi, plus he gets a goal bonus

Assuming you're not being sarcastic here, it's an impressive amount for NPL but how does that equate to more money than us? If that was an all year round wage (big IF) we're talking 130k per year, give him 1k per goal and he's at 164k. Even if he earns 60k in his day job you're not talking that much more all up than Simon.
