ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hayne and his family are Coasties from the peninsula (maybe part of the Minto mob you spoke about Recky) Used to see him at St Johns Woy Woy quite alot a few years ago and a decent bloke too.

I keep telling you Wombat , there`s no T in Mino...
And yes he was a Mino Boy

I thought AA8 thing was a piss take but ive just read it on Fox. Fk me what a joke.
As if he'll be fit tho. Did you see him last year? There'll 45 and 50yo men with pot bellys who'll be fitter.

Registered with 8s but will be playing 1s tomorrow at least (possibly for the rest of the season).

I read that too JP.
But the other night it sounded as though a keeper had been signed or was lined up.
Reading that article he didn't say he had any offers. If he was heading here I would have thought they would be a mention of returning to Australia.
Yeah did sound like we already had one lined up, hope it's someone good if isn't someone like Holmes.

I've seen too many players come back to Australia and been washed up. Lucus Neill is a prime example. I'd like Jedi but i'm unsure that its good business.

Will be 35 by the time this season kicks off, I’ve got no doubt he’d be a great leader and probably still able to perform well in the A league but we would need to be mindful of how much of our budget we are prepared to put towards a player like that. With limited funds we can’t afford an expensive dud like McCormack taking up funds that could be used in multiple positions. It all depends on what we could get him for, otherwise if MacArthur wants to pay through the nose they can have him (at 36!)

Lucu$. He was only after the money after he went to West Ham.
Not sure Jedi is like that. But you're right. We should be cautious.

Im amazed anyone is even skeptical of this, I personally think he is BEYOND our ability to sign, yet here we are discussing how he could be a dud....

I get the cautious approach, but seriously this dude would be great for any Aleague team, was always a strong professional, competitive to a fault and had enough ego he would never put himself in a position to be embarrassed.

I understand the sentiment, and I’d gamble on Mile. But let’s be clear, it would still be a gamble, because time catches up with EVERY single player no matter how great. Timmy, Kewel were examples, as were many others.

But I’d still sign him if we could afford it without destroying our budget and unbalancing our squad, because we know the leadership and professionalism he would bring and I think he’d definitely have a year or two at centre back left in him.

Just the number or aerial duals alone he would win and organisation would make a big impact on our defence. And would be a hell of a shot for morale for fans and team mates alike.

I heard a few people talking on the train on Friday about the Sydney FC releases. From their conversation it was obvous they had not been to a Mariners game for at least a couple of seasons. The parting comment from one though was I hope the Mariners can get the rebuild right this time.

I think Mile would be a shot in the arm for these type of 'missing fans' - but we need to be careful. Firstly, what does he want to do. Is he going to be the face of the SWS team in 20/21. If he is not then that clears the way a bit. If he is then that will be a distraction for us this coming season.

I'd love to have him back for next season - and wouldn't it be great to have a penalty taker you can rely on. But we would have to be careful of what his plans are beyond next season.

The other point is I do not see MC looking at it unless the new independent A League is a reality and he can get a better percentage of shirt sales to recoup the cost.
