Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

What are the chances we will see a positive signing tomorrow, being the day before the big fan forum. I can see things getting a little heated if nothing is announced before then.
Glassock hasnt been announced yet, that has to happen soon you'd expect.

Although Hoole and Kennedy being announced as gone would count as good news

By this point I’m kind of expecting them to be saving any news for the event. It’ll still be hostile but might take some of the venom out if the supporters who attend get a genuine bit of first hand news rather than confirmation of a twitter rumour we heard about a week ago. Even more so if it’s actually a decent signing or two.

I just find it insane that we’re rightfully petrified that the full salary cap won’t be spent.
What a time to be a live.

Scholarships can be part of the A-League squad but rarely make it to match day.
Scholarship players like Sebastian Pasquali have, but what it is showing if we can't even afford a scholarship, something that is the cheapest out of cap wage which is just the national minimum wage, is that we will be barely able to spend the cap floor.

This could solve the what to do about DDS question

"The Sky Blues are also exploring ways of keeping Anthony Caceres and Daniel De Silva, who were on loan from Manchester City and Central Coast Mariners respectively and have both expressed a desire to stay at the club."

If it takes his wage away then I guess that's a good thing, considering how high his stocks were when we signed him he must be on a fair amount.

That is the big question imo. New Ownership model has changed and that was supposed to trigger greater financial freedom and confidence in being able to invest according to Mike, and we’ve attached new board members. So we better be spending more where it matters and have some decent plans to share.

If they announce more expenditure on the squad, I expect it will take the heat out. If they don’t, nothing but a raft of quality signing announcements will. But that’s unlikely to happen.

Based on whispers I think there’s a possibility a new football director or a new quality staff member being announced.

That said, people are gonna do what they want, But I won’t be happy if I go and have to listen to people rant and tell there life stories without a clear and pointed question on the end of it.

A simple, hi, I’m a devastated and furious fan who won’t be renewing unless X happens. So can you advise if or when X will happen.

Or even just hi, I’m livid at the disgrace we’ve become, can you please answer the following.

It hasn't though has it? The deadline I heard was June 30. At the moment I believe the HAL is still controlled and run by the FFA.

It is still controlled and run by the FFA but a vastly different FFA from when Stephen Lowy was in charge. The only thing being sorted out at the moment is whether the State Federations will get 10% or 18%.

Someone asked a question on the old FourFourTwo Forums on what you would so if you were Alan Stajcic, here's mine:

Fire Matt Nash as our goalkeeping coach, bring Ben Cahn back in as our Youth academy coach, bring in Chris Oldfield as our starting keeper on $64,113 with automatic extension triggers over two years on our terms. Loan Danny De Silva back to Sydney FC.

If I can go back to the start of the pre-season, don't re-sign Adam Pearce and only re-sign Jack Clisby on $64,113-$80,000. Re-sign Jem Karacan on $300,000.

Desperately try and find a loan club for Michael McGlinchey, beg Mike Phelan to hawk him off to a lower league English team.

I will assume some of the wages our players are on:
Aidan Munford: $47,792
Chris Oldfield: $64,113
Jacob Melling: $64,113
Tommy Oar: $300,000
Mario Shabow: $64,113
Matt Simon: $250,000
Jack Clisby: $80,000
Daniel De Silva: $300,000 (Loan to Sydney)
Jordan Murray: $80,000
Kye Rowles: $150,000
Michael McGlinchey: $250,000 (Loan to England)
Jem Karacan: $300,000 (Visa)

So $1,352,339 spent with $1,403,661 left to spend to reach the cap floor because I assume Charlesworth will pay the absolute minimum. Have an average of $127,605 to spend on the remaining players.

Bring in Giancarlo Gallifuoco on for two seasons, assume he is on $150,000, have $1,502,339 spent with $1,253,661 left, at an average of $113,969 per player.

Bring in Gerrie Syladios on $64,113 for one season with triggers for a following two if conditions are met, bring in Themba Muata-Marlow on $64,113 on the same terms as Syladios. Try and bring in Bradden Inman on $213,681. Bring in Brad Norton or a better NPL left back on $64,113. Beg Charlesworth for a marquee in Jedinak and get refused. Try and Bring in Joe Caletti on a wage between $64,113-$100,000. Now have spent $2,046,151 with $709,849 left and an average of $118,308 left per player with six players remaining

Sign Tasuku Sekiya on $64,113 for a year with triggers for two more. Conduct more NPL/NYL trials bring in a right back to compete and provide backup to Gallifuoco put him on $64,113. Now have spent $2,174,377 with $581,623 left and 4 more players needed at an average of $145,405. Use $300,000 to bring in an experienced visa Centre back. Elevate Michael Glassock to a senior deal on $64,113. Now have spent $2,538,490 with $217,510 remaining with two players to bring in. Try and sign a visa left back with $169,718 and sign an under 20 left winger on $47,792.
This is the best team I could come up with:

Oldfield
Gallifuoco (Visa Centre Back) Rowles (Visa Left back)
Karacan Caletti
Oar
Sekiya Murray Inman

Bench: Munford, Simon, Melling, Syladios, Clisby
Reserves: Muata-Marlow, NPL right back, Glassock, Shabow, Norton
