It appears not even the thought of being coached by Liverpool great Robbie Fowler is enough to convince footballing prodigy Zach Duncan to commit his future to the Brisbane Roar.
The Australian understands the 18-year-old, who broke into the top flight in the final weeks of the A-League, has told the club he is moving on and exploring his options either overseas or with another A-League club, believed to be the Central Coast Mariners.
It is believed Duncan, who is from Marayong in Sydney’s west, is now in Denmark for trials as his agent weighs up the options for a player regarded as one of the next big things in Australian soccer.
Roar officials have been left greatly disappointed by the development as they were under the impression he would be staying with the club and would be part of Fowler’s plans for the future.

They believe Fowler would have got the best out of him and would have subsequently opened doors to a career overseas given Fowler’s worldwide connections.
After stints as a junior with Marconi Stallions and Sydney Olympic in the NSWPL before moving onto Sydney FC and then Western Sydney Wanderers, Duncan joined the Roar last year and was involved in their youth team.
With Roar out of finals contentions, interim coach Darren Davies opted to give him some senior football experience in the latter stages of this season.
A central midfielder, he made his debut for the Roar in a round 22 game against Melbourne Victory on March 16 before being handed his first starting game against Wellington Phoenix in round 25.
Duncan scored his first and only A-League goal against the Newcastle Jets in a 6-1 loss in round 26 and finished the season with a start against Adelaide United in round 27.
With new coach Alen Stajcic now at the helm on a full-time basis, the Mariners are looking to bolster their squad with a mix of experienced players and good, young talent from around the country.
Duncan’s attraction to the Mariners is understandable given Stajcic knows him well having coached him in junior football. Still, he would be unlikely to be given a full contract, instead being put on a scholarship
