ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Nisbet and Silvers are the only two on scholarships atm. Moric has only been signed in NPL and Hatch and Miller are on NYL contracts until September as all the remaining NYL players are.

Time to tie them both up for at least a couple more years. Many more showings like last night and other clubs will be out trying to steal them.

Wow. So was it FFC who said Ingham wouldn't get much game time. He was right.
Think that was based on not liking him not him departing the club. With the troops we had available at the start of the week Ingham would have had a very good shot at getting decent minutes this season. Can't see moving anywhere improving those odds much.

I am getting concerned about the injury toll and niggles we are already racking up.

We know the squad will be thin, therefore in order to be successful this season, we need fuller squads week in week out.
Pretty sure Okon said our boys are so unfit (my words there) that you can’t smash them at once because they will break. Looks like Staj might be breaking them. But with still 3 months till the season might not be that bad just early adjustments coming off low bases and early in the step up in intensity.

Also first 90 mins game for the season so bad lead in could also be to blame. That break in playing 30 mins is pretty handy and how many played 90 in the two warmup games in preparation for the cup?

Staj might be a hard arse which can be great and no doubt our team needs it but sometimes that can lead to stubbornness as well.

FFS these guys are young and professional sportsmen. Most are full-time and do not have other careers. They should be relatively fit with a few weeks to bring them up to a level where they can cope with 90 minutes.

It is not like the "good old days" of 2 nights a week training, with a session in the pub afterwards and only 2 trial games before the start of the season.

How many of them have been throwing up after the first few sessions?

I remember watching Hutch and I think it was Clarky at half time of a trial match in Season 1 or 2 doing interval runs at half time (neither were playing). Smashed themselves. Good to see.

Soft these days.

Train hard, play easy.

I think that any players who complain about getting smashed in training can leave immediately. That's your job as a footballer to be supremely fit and that work gets done in the pre-season. Fitness is something this team has lacked for years as it was obvious we'd be gassed after 60 every week and in that time, we'd be losing games. Now, swap that around and we're the fittest team on the park, results are different.

Ironic a chubby bloke is critiquing pro footballers fitness but eh. That's how pro sport works.

Without tooting my horn - I do triathlons as an age group amateur. Leading onto a big race like an Ironman for about 2 months prior training volume is around 25 hours a week after a 40 hour work week. Add in massage and Chiro, having to do all my own nutrition etc, it absolutely BLOWS MY MIND that anyone that is a paid professional sportsman would have an issue with the amount of training that they have to do at A League. Look at foreign leagues - we are doing half the training load and playing a 3rd of the games.

If this is too hard, they REALLY need to look for another profession.

Players who can't do a pre-season for a 27 game season would never be able to play in the Championship. A 46 game season would absolutely smash you.

Once again an Australian sporting competition prove a contract is less useful than toilet paper BUT if he didn’t want to be here , it’s good they let him F off
