ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners sell supporters short.... again

what would a crowd of 6K-7K make the team?

Dunno. Seriously, they are probably being paid a lot of money to turn up and play no matter who comes to watch, and the takings and anything the stadium can make out of the match will probably go back to the ACT people who paid them?

Clarence, I would not dream of contradicting you.
However, I do not think it is time to reach for the tin hats.

My take on it all:
1) I see this as the payback for our "Special Relationship" with ACT and a show of faith to enable us to feed on their "up and commers".
2) It is prolly being made "worth our while ($$$)" by the FFA who wish to test the waters. If we need the $$$$, understandable.
3) I think other clubs may cop something similar from FFA in future.
4) The pitch at Bluetongue better be like a billiard table when we return. :soapbox:
5) I do not expect us to become Central Coast Rovers, but if the "Special Relationship" proves to be successful and profitable in players and dollars it may become an annual event. I could cope with one game per year if the comp goes out to 12 teams, but that would be my limit. Could be a fun trip away, especially if the club gets itself organised with buses etc. :pirashoot:

From a personal viewpoint:
1) I have a 1 and 1/2 hour round trip (from the south) for home games so it doesn't affect me as badly as others (only a 6 hour round trip instead  :-\).
2) I would expect similar tickets (platinum) to what I have for my membership and, like Chris, I expect them to be posted, when I ask for them (Mon am)
3) I would prefer the 2 games at home but will attempt to make the best of it by staying over night and probably visiting the Art Gallery and/or Botanic Gardens before returning home. :piano:

I think the Central Coast people have an almost birthright to feel suspicious about games being relocated away from Gosford after what Manly did to the folks here who followed the NRL, a while back.

Not so, the eagles were never our team and were never going to be. This team is the central coast. Lets see where it goes, Lyall says that the FFA, the ACT government and capital football have all made this happen. Do you think they are looking for a relocated team or a 12th franchise?

Personally I dont think we are planning to relocate.

We obviously owe the FFA and they called in the "favour" - in return for $$ but I suspect we didnt get much choice.

Low act by all concerned and buses wouldnt be too hard to manage FFS - or will the Marinators club have to organise it (again)

Drive to canberra can take three and a half hours from gosford if you dont stop anywhere.

We would have been payed well for this game to go to canberra, i think the swans make 150000 for every game they play in canberra.

This is the worst trip, i've ever been on

Belted this one out in Rome after fulltime - I heartily +1 this idea.

IIRC, the Bears got into financial difficulties trying to get the relocation going, and having the stadium built in partnership with others.

Then they were forced into a merger with Manly, who had a gun pointed at their own heads and told to merge due to their own financial stress, into forming the Northern Eagles. The idea was to play some games at Bluetongue and some at Brookvale.

That struggled for a couple of seasons then the Bears really went bust and Manly took it over 100% and initially offered to still play some games at Gosford, but they tended to put on the less attractive games up here and kept putting the blockbusters on at Brooky.

So the Eagles were intended to be a team for this area, shared with the Northern Beaches area of Sydney.

Correct me if this is wrong.

It would be so easy to enter tin hat territory, and suggest that the Central Coast Mariners could end up like the hapless North Sydney Bears by laying down the basis for a good side here, then having to forge partnerships with other districts in order to stay afloat, eventually going bust and the partners actually continuing on with the franchise..... :tv:

It wouldn't be so bad if it was somewhere nice.

Not sure I'd go even if they offered free buses, hotel and tickets.

If they chuck the beer in I'll consider it  :p

No chance of relocation. That would be insane and make the hefty price of the COE absurd.

I would very much prefer these games at home.

But as a one off I am no longer angry.

As long as the pitch is 100% by the end. If it is still f**ked I say we all go dig the bastard up at the end of the season and let them start from scratch and f**k the RL off.

Is pretty dodgy have to go in to get the tickets though. I got an email to tell me about the matches and the ability to get free tickets, why not have a simple weblink or ability to reply saying yes if you want them.

Over-reactions much.

Our team is well safe and won't be moving away from the Coast.  Peter Turnbull's vision is for Club Tuggerah to be our home; the place the Mariners belong. He sees school kids dropping by the Club after school to watch training sessions and for the presence of this infrastructure to be a legacy for locals for years to come.

Wyong Council's vision is for this development to provide a real kickstart to the local economy.

We have an awesome football club and I'm proud of what they're doing. You can't please everyone all of the time. Some of you sound like spoilt bitches; harden the f**k up. ;)

Well said 100% agree ... but would add we hang the groundsman from the highest palm tree if the surface is not brilliant.

+1 to both comments. I'm as filthy as the next person about these games being moved but ffs, some people seriously need to calm down about a possible relocation. The suggestion is ridiculous and has no basis, Pure unfounded rumour mongering. If you believe in conspiracy theories like this, move to America. You'll fit in perfectly with 300 million crack pots.

WHAT!!! So the rumours are true, we are relocating... moving from the Gosford Shire to the Wyong Shire... OUTRAGEOUS!!!! :redcard: :redcard: :redcard: :tophat:

Clearly they're not relocating. Trading off our league matches to other cities for a short-term payoff to help Canberra attract an A-League franchise is to whore ourselves out. I see nothing that suggests that we won't do this on a continuing basis - the pitch will need work (and our warchest will need filling) next year too, won't it?

The stadium wouldn't be there if it wasn't for RL... I don't understand the attitude towards RL in that regard.

I also think anybody suggesting that two games to Canberra being a precursor to relocation is OVER-REACTING. The club is purely and solely Central Coast - many teams in many codes take home games "away" - the Roosters, Sea Eagles, Bulldogs, Rabbitohs and Sharks already have done so in 2009 in the NRL.

Well obviously its not ' purely and soley' central coast if we are taking games away from the coast for the benefit of another region.

You could argue that it has benifits for our region too.

Still doesn't warrant the hysteria that some in this thread have resorted to...
