Very hard not to be pissed off by this and our draw.

The concentration of matches for the home run in may possibly be good in one regard, as we do seem to pull better numbers at this time of year... BUT this could just as easily have been because of positive momentum gained in successful first half of seasons and potentially may not apply this year at all, if heaven forbid say we have a lack luster season, in which our locals have only sighted our team a handful of times over the bulk of the season... well then shit... we better hope they like us in Canberra...

::)

Free ACT match tickets...?
Free Foxtel subscriptions more like...

Honestly if your serious about having/keeping a fan base with this draw Lyall, it's going to be pretty bloody hard to build up Mariners support this season without a foxtel unit.

Mick you do the radio broadcasts don't you? I hope they are going to get behind you and start heavily publicising/cross promoting them with their new sponsor or some such.

Honestly, how do they expect any fan is not going to be pissed off that we only have 11 home games scheduled,  as opposed to...

Blings... 14...
Tards... 14...
Gold Coast... 14...

CCM...?

11

Bloody hell, even Fury fans get to go and see 12, and they're playing in the practically the worst football climate our country has to offer shy of playing in the middle of the simpson f**king desert.

So they scheduled the entire draw and came to this whole ACT idea based around our pitch problems?? My house looks over Blue Tongue and there's been plenty of spare time since the end of last season for pitch repairs! Didn't suncorp completely resurface in only a handful of days last year? But hey, we need to wait till the season starts again and then move games to the ACT so we can finally get it fixed?  What has the pitch developed an allergy to Mariners? If they play within a 300 f**king kilometre radius does it wither and die?

What's worse, is that while it hasn't proven to be true here as yet, except for Melbourne perhaps, (Definitely a numbers = atmos thing) most teams, in most leagues around the expect to do better at home. It's an advantage. And if you have significantly less home games than other teams, surely you are significantly disadvantaged... and then if those are all largely at the tail of the season, you'd think the team would also have to be more likely to be down on the ladder by then, and therefore less likely to draw crowds or build enthusiasm which is particularly relevant in our case where we are still really trying to build on our support base.

I'D LOVE TO BE  SHOT DOWN HERE.

So anyone with a wonderful reason based reply to make me feel all warm and fuzzy about only having 11 home games that are stacked disproportionately at the tail end of the season would be greatly appreciated.

A press release will do CCM... but it would need to be a hell of a lot better than the last sugar coated turd you served up.

So hows the draw now any different to 2006/2007 when we had a large break away from home and then our last seven from eight at home?

Feel like i've been here before, feel like i've been here before.

Also have you considered that getting grass to grow in winter may be a bit of struggle, and that by doing it later in the year you can do it quiker and more cost effective?

And finally, didn't the pitch get fixed in 06/07 during that last break? Remeber how the surface went from crap to awesome (And now it's back to crap). I'm sick of the potato field and I want it bloody fixed.

did you come down in the last shower? if it was about fixing the pitch, why is there a game taken away, then a game at home, then a game taken away? why not have two consecutive games taken away?

I've followed another small club all my life.

A club whose home crowds are usually less than ours and have a debt of around 5 million quid.

They've never moved a home game ever and have survived for 100 years.

Moving home games is what UEFA do as a punishment to teams with naughty fans ffs !
Flares have been seen at our home games ;)

That you have a team to support at all. you could of been stuck with Sydney and Newcastle as your local choices.

Exactly. They are playing us for fools and think we buy this crap about the pitch. Bottom line was made by the management to take the money and screw the fans for these two games and potentially screwing the clubs season by making it vulnerable to dropping points. End of story.

Ok, I want to chime in with self contradicting info I heard on Star FM yesterday.

There was a radio ad promoting the new connection between Star and the Mariners, and the ad was quite squarely aimed at the suspicions or fears that came from these home games being moved to Canberra. Quite clearly they mention being CENTRAL COAST - if I recall correctly, quite few times during the one ad. So the club either expected fan fallout on the moved games or read this forum's comments.

I for one, like to try and keep an open mind, and am reinforced with some comfort that the club has recently made an announcement moving the CoFE along a bit further and now, these ads.

I agree that the communication of these moved games should have been better managed right from the time the draw was being made public.

More recently, Lyall's public spruiking of the games - BEFORE we had been told they had been moved to Canberra - in the ACT press went down badly with me, and now the free ticket, but make your own way there attitude, is not going down too well either.

The excuse about the ground surface smacks of BS to me, but... there was someone who had professional qualifications in this area and who addressed this issue on this forum when I doubted the club's reason, that made sense about relaying summer turf and other issues.

For now, I am prepared to be open minded but very disappointed, like Dibo, that the club chose to whore itself out to further another region's cause for Football.

But I am growing tired of being taken for granted, and the club appearing to try it's luck with any number of attempts to save money or make money, and seeing if fans react.

This relocation of some games, may or may not become a regular feature of the Mariners season, particularly if the club has a fine budget to work with and/or has excuses to use such as stadium turf relaying. If this keeps up, those that use the "Gypsies" to describe Mariners' fans might have more than some smart assed one liner to use that term!

How much money will they lose if we lose these two games and f**k up our season.

If we're out of the running before the run of home games around Christmas the crowds won't be real good I wouldn't think.

I thought they were trying to build a "community club " here ?

All they're doing is seriously pissing people off.

That may work if we're near the top by the time it gets to our run of home games.

But if we're at the other end of the table the only fans there will be us on this forum.Everyone else will have long since lost interest.

No, no, no Timmah. I'm basically saying - in a  counter balance to my previous expressions of suspicion about the club's ulterior motives - that they've been very careful to have this ad up and running at the same time they know that folks will hear of the moved games to Canberra. If anything, I see it proactive of the club in ensuring folks get the message they are staying.

Again, conspiracy theory. They signed the Star deal and Star are eager to promote it - it has nothing to do with the Canberra deal.

Have you heard the ad? It is quite full on about saying they are Central Coast.

I was waiting for the "Coastie Boys - we are here" chant to pop up but it didn't (thankfully)!  :D

Of course it's full on about the Central Coast - the team they're promoting is the local one - the CENTRAL COAST Mariners. What else are they going to be full on about?

Not sure what you mean here.

Outside my area of expertise... so forgive any ignorance, but I was thinking along the lines that Star FM should promote and broadcast your coverage of the ACT games on their station. I know a lot of people who love the mariners who don't have foxtel and I seriously doubt will travel to the ACT.

Feel like your stuck on one irrelevant point...
Feel like your stuck on one irrelevant point...

As justifying something by "hey, come one, how is this different from what has happened to us before! Is ridiculous. How does this fact make it any better or preclude being unhappy with it?

Nevertheless, you asked so I'll tell you why it's significantly different...

There are more teams, more rounds and more games, so having the same number of home games as a previous draw while others have increased their number of home games absolutely sucks ass.

It is also different because now virtually everyone else in the draw is having significantly more home games than us and so are being advantaged, both financially and competitively over us.

Finally, It's not a draw (neither was your toted 06/07 draw) thats anywhere near as conducive to growing our supporter base as it could be. The sad fact being it's a draw more likely to hamper supporter growth. One that is not giving us "the fans" the same opportunities as the other A League franchise fans are enjoying this year.

Why your confused that people are disappointed is beyond me?

As FFC or was it Arab was referring to, I think we now will need to have a bumper season or could seriously face our worst numbers to date this year.

As someone who dearly loves our club, this upsets me.

As to the better pitch.
If you had properly read Dibo's previous post I don't know how you still hold this opinion re swallowing the pitch BS.  The logic/facts re the draw leaves little further room for the Pitch excuse to be taken seriously.

That said, of course no one wants the pitch to be garbage again this season. But, again this is never going to stop fans from being pissed off that they are being short changed on the one thing that matters most to any teams supporters...

Getting to see their team play!!!

Star FM does not broadcast the A-League Games.
The A-Team has the rights and broadcasts the games live every week throughout the season.
These games can be heard through Coast FM 96.3 or www.coastfm.org.au

Coast FM will promote every game this season and will be in Canberra aswell as all over the country and NZ bringing live A-League action to fans of the Central Coast Mariners.
So make sure you tune in.
