Does anyone have any idea when construction starts ... assume next year being so close to Xmass or any idea when the club plan to put out a update status..
They are waiting till you're available to copy/paste the survey pegs, copy/paste the plant and machinery for footings excavation and copy/paste operators into the machinery.
Time is money. Get that mouse finger out of your nose and do it, now.

A large part of the meeting agenda related to a probity review on Council's  sponsorship arrangements with the Mariners and potential bias in DA assessment approval. Furthermore, Cr Bob Graham Mayor of Wyong is on the board of directors of the Mariners FC, so there is a potential conflict of interests from that point of view. The probity review checks that all of the correct procedures have been followed to ensure that the development approval was above board and that proper procedures were followed.

The whole report is on the council's web site at www.wyong.nsw.gov.au in the "About Council">"Meeting business papers and minutes" section. Refer "Council meeting 9 - December 2009" document.

Given the links between CCM and Wyong Council, the probity check is wholly appropriate.

Of course if we were in Wollongong..................

Mariners get go-ahead for $18m centre at Club Tuggerah
newsLocal News14 Dec 09 @ 01:17pm by ERROL SMITH
THE ball is back in the court of Central Coast Mariners after Wyong Council this week gave it the green light to develop Club Tuggerah as an entertainment facility and training centre.

There was unanimous council support for the development which was described as potentially of world class design.

The Mariners, working in conjunction with Wyong RSL Club, has applied to redevelop Club Tuggerah and the surrounding grounds at an estimated cost of $18 million.

The proposal is intended to function as the main training and support base for the Mariners.

Club and championship games would continue to be played at Bluetongue Stadium, Gosford.

The Tuggerah site incorporates the existing RSL premises and sporting facilities including tennis courts and playing fields.

Its located near the Tuggerah Supa Centa and within 800 metres of the railway station.

The Mariners say they want to:

* Refurbish the existing single-storey club including new covered entry and internal works;

* Build a new six-storey complex comprising health centre, gym, sports science consulting rooms and administartive offices and a separate five-storey complex accommodating an indoor pool and hydrotherapy pool, amenities and 132 guest rooms;

* Create a tournament field and grandstand for 2000 spectators incorporating VIP facilities, museum and canteen;

* Build eight futsal courts;

* Develop interconnected carparking areas for 348 vehicles.

The Mariners believe the proposal would generate close to 600 jobs.

Cr Greg Best said the development would be a huge boost to Wyong shire at so many levels.

It was not just about jobs but would be important to the future of children. After all it is the world game, he said.

With the excitement building surrounding Australias chances of hosting a world cup it would be a monumental development, he said.

  • From memory, the development consists of:
    • 6 international class football playing fields (including the two existing fields)
    • several futsal playing fields
    • a new two story building on the self storage/auctions side of Club Tuggerah incorporating:
      • 120 accomodation units
      • indoor heated swimming pool
      • gymnasium
      • sports science centre
      • Mariners FC administration offices
    • refurbishing the existing Club Tuggerah building incorporating new outdoor seating areas
    • a new, two story building built near the edge of the current Club Tuggerah car park extending toward the fishing club boathouse including:
      • club facilities (i.e. bar areas etc) that approximately double the size of the existing club facility. The two areas would be joined by a covered walkway
      • multiple conference room and function room facilities
      • catering facilities and amenities
      • other stuff that I've probably forgotten
  • What happenened to the mooted $60mill  developement and the 6-8 training fields or is this new release not accurate

I thought that they were actually building the fields out the back first. As that is where Tuggerah United is meant to move to while all the other building is taking place up the front.

Going to the AGM so I''m sure I will get more details this Sunday.

I'd be more concerned if they chose to build the 6-8 playing fields before they built the "New six-storey complex comprising health centre, gym, sports science consulting rooms and administartive offices and a separate five-storey complex accommodating an indoor pool and hydrotherapy pool, amenities and 132 guest rooms" for the financial reasons.

The fields would be the easiest thing to build so they have quite smartly just left them until the economy is booming again.

Sounds absolutely fantastic, this Centre of Excellence almost alleviates the pain of the loss on the weekend.

Decent venue for away games too.

Hopefully they will show Australia matches without a great pole in the middle of the room and hordes of oldies queueing for the buffet

And being a 'football club' we should never have to worry about what channel the TV is on.

And I have to pass by it every night on the way home from work  :)

I think the football fields were left off...

But your question about the cost of the project ... the construction cost is 18 million of the buildings. To this add the land plus the club already there (I know we don't own it).

Add to this the intangablies, the value of the coaching systems, the management structure etc...
