Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

My bad - it is Pat Jennings...
One of the best goalkeepers of all time; playing for Northern Ireland meant he didn't get world acclaim but he was something very special.

Bozanic was my worst player on field tonight. Too negative and too slow of thought and just plain lazy in defense tonight as was weemac. Killed me watching Olly show no interest in running 10 metres to close down Nichols when he should have scored off that cut back.
Completely agree with the above, Olly was the worst on the pitch. Watched him closely in the first half, he showed no sense of urgency to get into position and gave away the ball far too easily. It was frustrating watching him even when we had the ball he seemed to be slow to react and get into position to receive a pass.

Frustrating evening.

Yes, I thought it was a strange game from Olly. Was he sick? Seemed to be a lot of hiding behind opposition players to avoid receiving the ball, and lack of interest in closing players down. Very sluggish. Odd. He's much better than that.

Playing against Brisbane we need all players firing, and some respectable refereeing. That's not what we got in the first game.

Should Arnie be bluffing by saying we played well, hoping to keep confidence up? Or should he be giving the team a right bollocking for playing poorly?

The 2-0 lead the jest had a few years ago in the first leg seemed insurmountable too. The second leg was the best game ive ever attended.

One problem I've noticed all season, too many of our players are one-footed. When a guy can only pass/shoot off one foot, the defence always knows which way he's going to go, makes it easy to shut him down.

Matt Ryan is wonderfully two footed. Hutchi can also score with either as can Kwassi. Not sure about the others.

Hutcho is two footed but barely gets out of his own half these days and certainly shows little interest in having a dig at scoring.

I think it's more a case that Kwassi has no idea where the ball is so attempts to kick it with the closest foot. I think he works on the premise that if he doesn't know where it's going, neither will the opposition.....

... and that's why we love him and hate him at the same time.

Harsh on Kwas who is one of the more technical players in the squad and fairly equally balanced on both feet.

. poor kwas ... balanced is not the word that normally springs to my mind. your argument may have been better served by reminding everyone we couldn't decide which foot he used to take penalties

. keep 'em guessing kwassie!

Lol, well that proves how two-footed he is which is more than can be said about a number of other players in the squad.

The Kwassy bashing has been going on since the first season yet he is a couple of goals off being our highest goal scorer and has scored some of the most important goals in our short history.

It is laughable to even think he is not balanced if you watch him play.

Kwassy's greatest weakness, and one which has hampered his career, is his level of consistency and the ability to focus on a ninety minute game.

His level of ball control is almost without peer in the squad with only McGlinchey probably better.

Yes Mick. Kwassy is an either/or player. Either plays brilliantly, or is invisible. He certainly has scored some memorable goals over the years. If he had the consistency of Matt Simon, he would be the pointy end we need.

There is no either/or about it.

You get both brilliance & invisibility in every game he plays. Thats the problem, you never know when the brilliance is going to come or in what form it eventually appears.

Many on this forum are only able to see great dribbles, goals and saves. Kwassy can look awkward when trying to beat a player in a one on one situation, which is all that many here see. His great positioning off the ball, which lead to many of his simple tap in goals is very often overlooked with the comment "that was so easy, I could have scored it".

Also overlooked by many are his neat flick ons and perfectly weighted through balls to set up others. These are not as noticeable when watching from lower levels (especially from behind) compared with high up or tv.

Kwassy is still the best true striker in the club, with Bernie coming on fast. Looking at the games over the last couple of months, who do you think is more likely to find the back of the net; Bernie, Hearfield, Sutton, McBreen?

In last years GF he was probably our best outfield player on the park.

Am I a fan of Kwassy? Yes, but still aware of awkwardness when caught in possession.

Am I a Fan of Wee Mac? Yes, but still aware of his slow decision making after carving an opposition up.

Am I a fan of Ryan? Yes but still aware of his inability at times to take the ball cleanly.

Am I a fan of Rogic? Yes, but still aware of his lack of pace.

I could go through every member of the squad in the same way.

There seems to be a need on this forum to pile shit on one person each year. Last year it was Hutch, the year before, Lawrie, and over many years it has been Kwassy. It is not pretty.

I would rather be a fan and concentrate on our team members strengths (while remaining aware of their weaknesses), and piling the shit on those opposition players that truly deserve it. There are plenty to chose from.

I wasn't putting shit on Kwassi.......just making a comment of my perception. I actually like Kwassi, but he's one of our most frustrating players to watch......I knew the comment would generate a bit of "interplay", that's why I included the popcorn icon in my post. I think Scottmac captured it best "You get both brilliance & invisibility in every game he plays. Thats the problem, you never know when the brilliance is going to come or in what form it eventually appears". that's why we love (and sometimes hate) our Kwassi.

Wonder what the PAX is? Most people will rock up and buy on the day so tough to tell. If we've sold 4000 or so still think we will get a decent crowd. Saying that i have tried dragging along a few but family Easter plans have made it hard. Will still get 4 or 5 along and try for more.
