Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

With furthertalk today about signing Bosnich I believe we should be giving Trotty another chance, if we give a former drug cheat a chance why not give Matt another chance.

Because that former drug cheat was also formerly the best keeper on earth

***cough Jardel***

Difference: CCM have stated they would check to see if he was up to it first unlike SOME clubs.

I agree Snow... (with the first part)
Regardless of saves and misses, from what I have seen I don't think Trotty will be able to lead/take charge the way he will need to in the box as yet - and don't feel confident in finding out over the first 8 games and potentially weathering this learning curve.

On the second part however...

"Besides Heff..." ??

Wilko possibly did not have his greatest personal season, but he is still quality and what's more he was still a terrific captain imo and a great ambassador - I don't think we should easily underestimate how much he gives to the team in this regard - as to the rest of our backline...?
Boogs was simply outstanding last year for mine and Clarkey is still for my money one of the better defenders in the A league... Osman will be a gun once more... Now D Apuzzo looking promising...

Sorry snow, but I strongly disagree.

I reckon Defensively we are going to be really good wide, in the centre however we could use one more player as cover though

If Lawrie was considering keeping Trott is 1st choice, he should of had him at a state league team on loan for match fitness the moment Dannys hand hit that muppet Breeze. Lawrie knows Trott is not confident, everyone who has ever seen him play knows, so the fact he was not loaned tells me we will sign someone else

IMO we shouldve loaned both Trott and Redmayne out for the off season.

Trott was going to be loaned out to Lightning until he injured his hip IIRC

He needs to be playing a higher level than Lightning for match fitness

Same with Porter. My opinion of him has changed over the years, he is very quickly growing on me. Having said that, he carved the league lightning are in. He is obviously better than that, so should also look at state league for match fitness.

BrisRecky

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
so....has there been any other keepers  (other than Bossie) touted to slot in for Danny V ?

Can we get a loan deal on Bouzanis? it also gives us a U21 player in our squad which means Redmayne can be put into the youth squad and therefore we have an U21 keeper that is good enough to start games for us

just floating it as an idea. I have no idea who we should get Vanstrattan is my number one choice but its doubtful

Also due to the nature of Dannys suspension the club may need to get creative on how to solve this problem

Sigh.........

Whether he personally was to blame or just instilled a lack of confidence in those around him leading to defensive blunders, the facts are the facts.

It really doesnt matter because CCM are in the results business and on the evidence presented so far, he can stop shots well but cant play the 5th defender/sweeper role that Danny does. This leads to positioning errors by defenders and the results are what we have seen.
100% correct. Can anyone out there honestly say they had every confidence in Trott when he was playing during Dannys suspension?I seriously doubt it.My heart was in my mouth every time the ball went near him.At corner kicks he was like a drunk man chasing a balloon. We could lose the league in the first 7 games playing Trott in goals.

Sign up Bozza or someone else but do it soon for f**ks sake!!

After the second game back its Bozza for sure?
