I'm still surprised there has been no mention of legal action over this issue. I know we don't have the money but any half smart lawyer would see an excellent case of slander in this situation meaning the FFA, Barry Such, Simon Micallef and Alan Davidson could be individually sued in this instance.

You cannot brand a entity, a cheat without sufficient evidence. More so you cannot come out and do it publicly like the MRP and FAA have done.

Surely someone wants to work on commission for an open and shut case like this.

Mariners call in experts

Biomechanic experts have been called in by the Central Coast Mariners in a bid to overturn an A-League ban that has sparked fears exciting import Patricio Perez may return home to Argentina.

The Mariners have not ruled out court action if a two-match ban slapped on Perez for simulation following last weekend's 1-1 draw with Sydney FC is not at least suspended.

Central Coast will make their next move after Football Federation Australia (FFA) responds to their submission which includes biomechanic expert analysis they say shows there was "potential contact" to Perez.

And Perth Glory are also contemplating taking action after Michael Baird copped a two-match suspension for diving.

Under the new FFA regulations, the players have no right of appeal.

But the Mariners will be exploring their legal options if the FFA does not reassess Perez's ban.

It is believed a homesick Perez is so distraught over "being called a cheat" that he is seriously considering leaving Australia and returning to Argentina where his family still resides.

Perez was "doing it tough" after finally overcoming a niggling injury that forced him to miss the first three games of the season, only to be banned following a blistering 35-minute display.

While fuming over the ban, the Mariners are also upset that Perez's suspension will take in two home games, denying them a precious draw card.

The Mariners had hoped to hear back from the FFA on Wednesday.

While there are real concerns for Perez, Mariners football manager Lawrie McKinna tried to play them down on Wednesday.

"Obviously the guy is disappointed because he got touched and went down - we definitely think he got touched," he told AAP.

"We think it is unfair to label him a cheat when the evidence is inconclusive.

"(But) as far as him going home, he's upset but he is a professional player and he is contracted to the club for two years.

"He has picked up a niggling injury, he is frustrated because he missed the first three games then came on and lit the game up."

The Mariners fear Perez's ban will cost them at least 1000 fans a game at their next two home matches.

"We keep going on about getting players that excite the fans and he certainly excited the fans judging by the amount of emails we got today - including Sydney FC fans - in support," McKinna said.

"Everyone is talking about him. You want the best players on the field and he is an exciting player."

Meanwhile, Glory coach David Mitchell claimed referees should be involved in the match review process after Baird was banned for simulation in their 2-2 draw with Melbourne Heart.

"I think it is a bit dangerous when you have a review committee looking at things and making decisions, taking it away from the referee," he told Perth reporters.

"Because then the referee is always a bit worried about the decisions he is going to make in the future.

"I think the referee should be a part of it - that's what happens in Europe."

This new high-resolution picture shows conclusively there was was contact between Sydney FC goalkeeper Liam Reddy and Patricio Perez

You can actually see where Reddy's glove has wrinkled and stretched Perez's sock as it rubs against it.

Now to wait for the FFA to reverse their decision... Unlikely!

I just can't believe that the FFA, normally so slick and professional, could be so stupid as to deny a banned player any kind of input or recourse to the MRP process.

If the Mariners tried for an injunction, presuming they could get it heard in time, they'd drive a coach and horses through the FFA's no appeal system.

Now even 442 are backtracking, begrudgingly, from their earlier 'burn the witch' stance!

Lyle, get over it - the MRP was a secret idea (ie. not known to media and public) that ended up like those do .. a right stuff up!

Change your mind, or lose even more credibility for the FFA, not to mentions fans for the A-League!

You don't know them very well do you!?

... they are increasingly a shambles outside of all resources poured into the WC bid. I'm almost wishing we hadn't bid with the damage it is doing to our domestic game.

Do FFA have the courage to reverse their decision

The two video images linked below clear Perez… the first link is frozen and it is impossible to tell if contact is made or not made with the front leg… but it is clear the back foot will come into contact with Reddy as Reddy motion will be going forward.

The second link shows the frames around the frozen frame… it clearly shows Perez trying to get around the Keeper and he falls like his first leg has had a slight but his back leg has had the main contact… but on the evidence their is much more very much more to say Reddy made contact…

http://i.haymarket.net.au/News/20100...erez-reddy.gif

The new link shows Reddy’s right hand on the back leg which makes sense and the second leg being taken out does cause a player to fall and means the Redcard was probably the correct decision.

Then as Kev pointed out on another thread heaps of people are coming out saying it was no dive or not enough evidence.

Look hear all you guys the FFA is 100% correct - Perez has committed the foul - he kicked Reddy in the arm - it is so obvious. We should all trust what that outstanding moral character Reddy says in so far that he did not touch Perez - I believe these views and comments on my resume should get me a position on the MRP.

Liam Reddy, what do you expect from someone who comes from thug pedigree?

I remember reading an article somewhere about when he was starting out, his coach wasnt playing him and his dad took the coach in a room, punched him out, and from then on Reddy started every game...

Somehow I dont believe him for a moment

One thing is for damn certain, this single piece of garbage has generated probably the biggest media storm and interest the A-league has seen yet.

Each article on FFT has had thousands of views and hundreds of if not thousands of comments, I mean, I for one have been following this story like a man posessed, newspapers are cleaning up and i cant express how happy I am that the best football journos in the country are on Perez' side, I really hope that if the decision is not reversed, (which unless it is being discussed as we speak, it wont happen) that the fans protest at the game.

I am talking MASSIVE SIGNS, COSTUMES OF CRIMINALS IN HANDCUFFS, PROPS, A CARDBOARD ELECTRIC CHAIR, LETHAL INJECTIONS, ANYTHING THAT REPRESENTS WHAT A TOTALITARIAN SYSTEM OVER-RULING AND BULLYING THE PUBLIC, A SIGN THAT SAYS "FREE TIBET" WITH TIBET CROSSED OUT AND PEREZ WRITTEN UNDERNEATH

In all seriousness, I live in remote N.T so I can not be a part of this, but if someone is interested or there is a head of this sort of PR, please contact me and I will happily contribute funding to ensure it happens, I have not felt this passionate about something in a long time!

I very much admire and respect people like you. You help remind me that there really is a God! I don't know anyone within the Coastie Boys/Yellow Army/Marinators unfortunately though so I can not assist with this.

I would love to see all of your suggestions at the game on Friday!

Even if Reddy came out and admitted contact with Perez the FFA would still not go back on their call.

I will still be going this friday and next(how could I miss a home game), but have to admit if I was a half arsed fan I would be staying home to watch the NRL instead!!

Get your act together FFA!!
