MICHAEL McGLINCHEY will head to Australia this weekend to try to win a dream deal with Central Coast Mariners.

The 22-year-old was released by Celtic this summer after being the youngest player to star for the club and is now keen to kick start his career abroad.

After a frustrating last few years trying to make his mark at Parkhead, the playmaker is determined to make the most of his trip Down Under.

He said: "This is not something I was expecting but my agent Jim Harkins called me to say he had an interested party abroad.

"I was over in Portugal being best man at my brother's wedding so it's great news and an exciting opportunity. I'm up for the challenge and it's a case of having a look around the club and they will get the chance to look at me.

"I've never lost confidence in my ability so I'm going to give it a real go and see how things work out.

"The disappointment at leaving Celtic is now in the past and it's all about getting my future back on track. I don't know what it says about the Scottish game that I need to go to the other side of the world to get a club but that's the way it is."

The New Zealand born youngster has been training with Partick Thistle over the past few weeks and thanked the Jags for their help.

He said: "Everyone at Partick Thistle was great with me and I appreciated the chance to do pre-season with them.

"I'm grateful to Ian McCall and Gerry Britton for making me so welcome at Firhill.

"This is an opportunity I couldn't turn down and it shows that you never know what's around the corner."

getting more excited about this by the headline

Sounds promising!

Define "own knowledge".

Its an interesting term and i would love to hear what you mean by it.

Does that mean things you have experienced and therefore have memory of?

Or does it mean things you have discovered through reading or researching?

Or is it even stuff you have heard people say and retained in the subconcious for later use?

Or is it a term that you just made up to cover over your assumption that a name you have never heard of before couldn't have any real significance because you know f**king everything?

Okay clearly razor f**ked up with his "unknown argentinian" comment and has now moved on to clutching at straws. Let's all just drop that, it won't get us anywhere.

Plus the return of Kwassie

Thanks forgot about Kwassie .. so the summary is

Let me see if I got this right ..

Singed for sure

Attacking Mid :Travis
Defensive Mid : Huke
Central Defender: Doig,
Left Mid: Kwassie

On Trial  Strikers:
Wales, McGlinchley, with the assumption these are A-League quality or higher.

Others on trial not sure of their positions; Lim Dong Sup and Milos Lujic + next week weve got three more coming in from overseas.  Link http://www.theworldgame.com.au/a-league/mariners-seek-capital-gain-202842

Youth League players Signed
Left Back:  Sherlock
Centre Mid: Lewis

Returning from Injury:
Right Mid : Elrich
Striker: Mrdja

Summary

8 new or returning from injury players, plus another 7 players on trial.

Lawrie's comment was "Weve got the three boys with us this week and then next week weve got three more coming in from overseas. Were always looking for players and hopefully we see something we like and think is good enough to contribute to the team."

Something doesn't add up. We've got Wales, McGlinchley, Lujic and Wassup trialling at the moment. According to my calculations, that makes 4 triallists. That is, unless Lawrie made a mistake or a Freudian slip due to one of them having already signed??

What about the three this week? We've got Claudio Caniggia as a rumour. Are there others or did I miss something amongst the flack?

By the way, whats happended to my avatar? I can't see it can you?

So this next group of triallists could be McGlinchley and possibly Caniggia at a long shot plus one other?

Read the thread Sean. Its a wild rumour at this stage. Its one of those things where two different news articles could be connected but there is no actual evidence.

Define "own knowledge".

I'll defend Razorback.

It is obvious he is referring to Chomskyan tacit knowledge (modes of thinking or behaviours that are enacted by unconcious cognitive processes.)
Like the mental learning modules that map out an innate 'universal grammar' and the means for children to rapidly learn any language as theorised by Steven Pinker in The Language Instinct (1999), Razorback believes that certain humans have innate football knowledge.

People can acquire knowledge about football through lesser learning methods (eg. reading football material on the internet), or they can innately know all things, eg. Razorback.

I agree with Bex. It is obvious that the off season is too long when we are hassling forumites' understandings of epistemological philosophy.

I have grown very tied of the constant message of improve the technical skills and coaching,  by many in the media over the last few years.. While admitting it is true it hardly needs the media space it has got and moreover McMariner has taken a hit on the long ball hoofed up field when most teams do similar things often..

Our style is technical and will be exciting .. so Fozie can f**k off let me explain

We have two wide mids in Elrich and Caceres who have pace and will dribble and attempt to beat their opposite number both can lay in a good cross given we have fast mobile and tall strikers then this should be effective also in Travis we have an excellent player at putting balls on the ground into open space .. again suiting the strikers we have..

Huke will be the defensive mid and his first touch and laying off quality first time and quick balls is as good as any one in the League and he maybe a future Halroo..

We have  McGlinchley on trail . A player who had a choice of Man U & Celtic only 4 years ago if LM & Clarky can rebuild him he has the potential to be the best player Hal has ever had

Our game will be build on fast moving strikers supported by IMO a very strong midfield, arguably the best in the League Elrich, Huke, Travis, Caceres with Matty up front and  McGlinchley sitting just behind Matty their will be plenty of crosses from Elrich & Caceres and lots of balls wide to them..

My concern is still at the back I hope we can find at least one more quality back hopefully right full back and that Doig can be the organiser similar to the role played by Moore & Muscatt
