My mistake. Would I be correct in assuming the U21 player must be coming from the prospective U20's(ie. U18's) national squad then? Or am I horribly wrong about that too?  ;D

Mariners will be trialling an argentinian, serb and south korean in the next couple of weeks - all have played in their respective top competitions

we are also signing a current australian youth international as our third under 21s player

and travis to arrive tomorrow

So who's the second U21's player? D'Appuzo is 1..............

And if that is the third, we still have 2 spots left on the roster, is that right

Looks like our next signing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Wales

my scottish mate said he is a very good player
On paper it's not a real impressive record.

Eight goals in Fourteen starts last season is ok but then it was 3rd tier football in Scotland. His record with Kilmarnock and Hearts in the SPL doesn't look too flash.

I've a mate in Scotland who's a Raith Rovers season ticket holder....poor tragic guy......I'll get an opinion.I keep in touch with a Hearts mate aswell.....wonder if he remembers him?
My Hearts mate said he remembered him as a good player around 7-8 years ago. Then he got injured and struggled to get back in the team and was loaned out a couple of times before being transfered.Couldn't tell me much about him after that other than the usual grief I get about Australia being a home for auld wasters etc etc.

Raith Rovers mate hasn't got back to me yet......I'll probably hear the same nonsense from him anyway!

Bit off topic but Im going to be honest. What i want in the team is a charismatic black African

A Charismatic black guy that can score a goal or two then do some sweet native African dance to celebrate would make me keen again. Sick of the boring players from the UK bring on some flair..... just a little bit !

Just got back from the game, I really expected Sydney to dominate given their solid pre season and this being the mariners first game after their season break.

Sydney were the better team, but not by the margin they should have been.

Elrich - barely got involved
Mrdja - did ok but nothing special
Nicky Travis - only had 6 mins, unsure why, looked sharp and delivered a few nice passes
Lim Dong Sup - decent skills but looks very green (and 11 years old)
Doig - Solid, looked after Aloisi well, wasn't tested against a quicker player though
Bojic - heavily involved in midfield, copped a knock in the side late in the game and was in all sorts of trouble.
Heffernan - standard brain explosions, terrible foul to get carded. Did get forward a bit towards the end as the game opened up.
Vukovic - Exceptional shot stopping, distribution is still shyte.
Caceras - Looked dangerous, produced nothing
Milos Lujic - Didn't look great, but not terrible
Wales - A lot off huff and puff but didn't really trouble Sydney
Boogs - Played at right back, this cannot be his position... i'll take porter any day of the week if that's the other option
Hutch - standard Hutch

Some squad updates,

Huke out for three moths with a knee injury.
Porter for the next two to three with a bad knock.
D Mac and Matty well on the way to full recoveries.

Didn't someone say we were trialling an Argentine as well tonight?
Any idea what happened to him?
