Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I think Newcastles squad recruits are vastly over rated.

Sasho will not have the impact of sackwhack (although he will bag a few) and Ange wont go a full year with those knees.

Ljubo has the potential to be a stand out but is a nutter and is likely to go off at some point.

Will finish below us - bet on it

Hmm - big call AT - may have to wager a Drink on that one..... I think if Newie can hold onto De Groot and that Italian guy they have a good chance of finishing above us.... All depends who we recruit...

The advantage of Recoba is that he is not only a name that will be recognised (I'm amazed at the NRL / AFL types that follow the Socceroos that do know him) - but his worth as a dead ball specialist would be immense. How many times do we get an opportunity and waste it?

Agree - he would kill most keepers with his dead ball skills..... Jedi wouldn't come close.

The great El Chino would easily be the best player ever in the HAL. Magnificent left foot, in my opinion the best since Maradona. Was once the highest paid player in the world with Inter.

I don't care who signs him. I just want him playing club football in Australia. If Glory can get him, the have my utmost respect.

Agree with your marquee comment ...I would love to get Vinnie Grella to the coast he would be my choice of marquee ... I reckon he would put thousands of extra bums on seats .. give us a midfield general and hard man all in one ...  imagine Matty & Mac running off his passes not to mention Elrich .......... ahhhhhhhh dream on

the italian guy won't be resigned as he is too injury prone and de groot is still unknown

agree with FFC Mariner in that summation

also, adam griffiths is leaving to GC and if they don't sign another keeper ben kennedy will have plenty of lol moments for the jets

for all of newcastle's faults his did save the jets' butt on some occasions last season and did provide confidence for the backs as well as leadership

newcastle will be poorer with kennedy in goals

ACL window closed months ago, so that's done and dusted. no more players can be added.

the international transfer window is closed (opens july 1), and as perth glory found out earlier this year if you go around talking to players (or even talking about talking to players) who are under contract you get in deep shit with FIFA.

the club's said they're looking to buy for the coming campaign, but unless they're picking up off-contract players from other HAL clubs or from the state leagues, they have to wait for the window.

"We've already started looking for some players to help fill in, although there's not much available elsewhere in the A-League. We'll probably look at the lower leagues in England and see if there's any interest."

I have a problem with this comment. I want creative ball players. Do we potentially want more of the same rabble we already have?

And a play makers!!!!

and prepared to play for the money we have available - we do need to be realistic, sports teams in all codes are seeing revenue decline at the moment.
Since when did realism come into our thinking....... hmmmm my head hurts....

That article mentions the possibility of losing Simon, Vukovic and Heffernan to overseas.

Of those mentioned I'd only rate Simon  as being at risk of leaving. Heff has tried his luck overseas and ended up wasting a year in Germany in lower grade teams for Nurnberg (and the fact he's now starting to struggle against better opposition in the A-League) & I can't see any os team having a look at Danny's CV and being too excited about some of his transgressions, despite his skill.
