ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!
If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.
ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Understand what you are saying but in all honesty would you stop supporting CCM if we bought him?
Everyone of us complains we have no Marquee and then we mention names - well here is a name that is available and I'd have him at CCM in a heart beat. (not that it would happen)

we've done this every season to date and it has worked with most of the players, hopefully it will work this season

So, we've done this for the start of season 2 and 4, where we've not met high hopes.
I'd take Sterj in a heartbeat, although the chances of him coming back to Australia pre-WC with Pim in charge are slim to none. Zadko...... if he has lost his ego and does not take up a massive wage if would be worth consideration.Jocwa08 said:i heard in another thread that derby were ready for an end of season clear-out with up to 10 players leaving the club including Zadko and Mile Sterj, should we be looking at some of these ten players or looking else where?
problem is at that age, if they are any good, they are already playing in Reserve and Youth teams in the big Leagues.....FFC Mariner said:I would have thought a few African players in the yoof side would be a sound investment - any good and we can flog them off to Europe
jaypee said:I disagree with mariners4ever - if you think we met expectations this year then your expectations are Low..... We were the Champions the year before (real champs not a one of game), into the ACL.... HIGH expectations and they were far from met last season. 4th is mediocre in a League of 8 teams.... Who cares how big or small a club we are.....FFC Mariner said:I would have thought a few African players in the yoof side would be a sound investment - any good and we can flog them off to Europe

i wasnt saying that we met our expectations or my expectations, i was just saying that when you have at our squad over the past 4/5 years we have done well to achieve the success that we have had achieved especially when comparing to the likes of sydney, newcastle and the roar who have convinced "bigger" players to play for them and we havent
definitly agree with the marquee part, a big name will bring in the supporters who are interested but don't see the point of coming when they can watch it on tv, i know i really got into the mariners when we signed viddy. I came to the games just so i could see him play (Although he was injured for a while so icontinually missed him).jaypee said:problem is at that age, if they are any good, they are already playing in Reserve and Youth teams in the big Leagues.....FFC Mariner said:I would have thought a few African players in the yoof side would be a sound investment - any good and we can flog them off to Europe
Agree with bear - until we see a player in the shirt and stadium its all talk and no action.

A Marquee is a must. I understand the $$$ issues but lets look at the season we had Aloi$i. Our crowd figures were not great until a NAME PLAYER turned up. Then figures went up dramatically. Would love to see the percentage increase pre Aloi$i and post for that season. Fact is we are in a Thugby League area and without a Marquee who can put Bums on seats and play good football we will struggle with mediocre crowds again.
