Central Coast Mariners Squad for 2008/09 Season

bummer!
start the search for an even better marquee

Exactly.

And to be honest I didn't think JA was all that impressive in front of goal. Missed quite a few that he should have put away or at least got on target, especially in the latter part of the season.

Now the fun time as we see dozens of rumours about our marquee position!

It is the lead story on the world game site and they state that they 'understand' that JA is on his way to Sydney.

Probably would be true given the tone of the story and the fact that they have it as the main part of the front page.

Our Marquee has to have European expierence. Don't want no brazilian upstart.
Maybe an out of contract playing in the "Big 5" leagues.

Yorkes to old,
i think we need a;
marquee striker
a creative midfeilder
Pacey CB
Good RB.

Midfeilder:
Ricky Garcia (aussie) Hull City
James Wesolowski (aussie) Leicester City, potential
Neil Kilkenny (aussie) Oldham Athletic

Centre Back:
Ljubo Milicevic (aussie) released
Ben Griffin (aussie) Queensland Roar
Dino Djulbic (aussie) Perth Glory

Right Back:
Matthew Kemp (aussie) Melbourne Victory
Jamie Coyne (aussie) Perth Glory

I have no idea about a new marquee,
what about Nathan Coe in Dutch leagues
bring him back for danny recovery

A certain Alvaro Recoba is looking at leaving Italy - possibly to go back to Uruguay. Very creative player and would be deadly at set pieces - something we seriously lack.

Recoba's too lazy. He walked for most of that return Uruguay match vs. Socceroos last year. And he's a frickin' prima donna.

What about Nikita Rukyvitsa (Probably missed 8 letters in that last name attempt)

He available ??

He would be a nifty quick striker to have

(Not as marquee by the way)

Rukavitsya would be great but still has another year on his contract.

He'll be up there with the top scorers next season IMO.

Maybe We should just sign a working leg and attach it to Nik Mrdja one day ??

(Yes this is how I think)

We need another striker with pace, we need a midfielder with pace.

Teams can push up on us and crowd the MF knowing that they are safe from balls over the top.

Get us a quick striker and they will need to sit a bit deeper against us and give us more room to play

I always knew Gerrard Way would leave the Mariners. Now I am just waiting for him to dye his hair and release a 'concept album'.

But seriously, the thought of signing a big name marquee was more exciting to me than the thought of resigning Aloisi. Id rather see Mrdja and our new marquee on the field. If Mrdjas knee-reco has done the job... he will be more feared than Aloisi.

IMO we are the best team in the league in the air by far and we have been for the last 3 years but what we need now is some players with immense abilities and speed on the ground
