Nearly every club in the A-League has signed a marquee player!
The Mariners havent!
Do we need one???
What type of player do we need?
Any suggestions on who you would like to see the club bring in?

An attacking midfielder with some spark in the final third of the field

Do we need one? We didn't in V1, and IMO Boogs done as good if not a better job as Viddy in V3.

However, the league is improving, teams are getting more competitive, experience goes a long way.

There's no doubt that marquee names like Aloi$i, Yorke, Bosnich etc would put more bums on seats, but if they don't deliver on the field why have them?

I can't see us signing a marquee IMHO unless a miracle happens, we don't need a striker, we don't need a winger, and I don't like wasting money on a marquee defender, so unless we find an attacking midfielder save the money.

Mori was a legend of Australian football but there is no way we should sign him as a marquee player! And for the record he didnt score last season

When we bought Simon Lynch, he was quality. A solid striker but when Miron started stuffing round with the strikers line up, he lost confidence as he would get very limited game time. Some how, Fwankie stuck with Reinado and he did ok but he's not a strikers asshole. But he did knock Sydney out and that night afterwards at suncorp was probably one of the best nights of football Ive ever had!!

Anyone heard more about Owens, O'Grady and Jedinak's injuries?

O'Grady's injury first came up in this thread in early July. My mate Shane tore his Archilles and has been off work almost three months. Is it likely that O'Grady will miss at least a few games of the season?

Does anyone one know the severity of Owen's back injury? Any prognosis?

Last but not least, any reports on Jedinak's groin? Perhaps a female Marinator could volunteer to check that one out? :)

I thought Clarence's idea to have a separate thread on this was good but it got knocked on the head. All the above is now buried 20 pages back. Can't we sticky an "Injuries 2008/09" thread that could be used for the whole season? If it gets very little use that would be really nice :)

There will need to be a few injuries for O'Grady to get in the team anyway.I don't think we're going to see much of Owens.......back problems tend to hang around.
Starting to worry a bit about Jedi.......keeping things very quiet there aren't they?

Hopefully they're just saving Jedi as a surprise announcement for the 1st round :)

Has Jedi done any light training yet? I know theres at least a few on here who would know. You know who you are LOL
