Lawrie said on Fox Sports that there will be a lot of changes with players coming off contract and Arnie coming in - Boogs, Heff, Redders and Dappuzzo have gone; Clarky now retired; Elrich,McAllister and Travis won't be retained.  It would not surprise me if McGlinchey doesn't return and/or if Doig returns to UK.

Doig should stay

Doig still has 1yr on contract- so any transfer would mean $$ for us.
(im pretty sure anyway)

oh, and travis is as good as gone.

They are welcome to him TBH. No one doubts his quality but he cant play 90 mins and is (allegedly) less than a good influence in the sheds.

Should fit right in

Players signed next season

Keeper - Danny

Defense - Pedj, Doig, Wilko,

Mids - Hutch, Amini, Lewis, WeeMac, Porter

Attack - Simon, Kwaz, Mrdja, McBreen

13 players, so there will be a lot of movement. I would think Huke, Panni, Matt Ryan, Brady and Sherlock will be signed. That still gives at least 6-7 spots left (WeeMac + others might not return).

We need a LB, backup RB (Huke 1st choice), a true left winger, DM (crowell?)..... etc

I have a strange feeling that GA will bring Zadkid here. Who else does Arnie like?

I don't think Panni has been signed for next year - though Mustafa Amini has.

a) depends on who he brings on to the team- he might change the captain if he thinks theres someone better suited.

b) hutcho is on a 3 year contract... so i spose he'll have to keep him and play him etc.

Assuming we re-sign Huke and lose Wee-mac as you said - both reasonable assumptions.

Add some more youth - Ryan, Sherlock,  Nikas, Smith, Ibini-Isei.

That would leave 6 spots available with a decent chunk of the cap also available.

If you play Huke at RB you have cover for that position from Wilko, Smitta and Pedj who can all play there. Also Huke, Hutch and Nikas all can play the holding role.

My problem areas would be LB (a real hole at the moment) and CB cover to shore up the defence after Heff and Boogs have gone. After that our attacking mids, LM, AM (ideally a marquee) , RM need to be added. These guys all have to be skilful on the ball.

Have recently heard that C.Payne has signed for us next year. Can anyone confirm this, if so, source?
Would love to retain Huke as DM.
Upsetting to see us lose Travis, IMO best player for CCM this season.
Really excited to see more of Brady, looked really promising at a-league standard in his cameo against jets. (Turning Ljubo for Matty's goal etc.)
Would be really interested in Fabian Barbiero, anyone heard about him resigning with Adelaide etc? Van Dijk would be great - not going to happen. In dire need of a good, attacking left back, Bojic for right back. IMO marquee (if we actually sign one this year) in CAM or CF/ST.

Payne would be a good pick up imho.

Local junior isnt he? young and relatively cheap.

Wouldnt be holding my breath for a marquee tho

How many young strikers do you pick though. Smith, Payne & Bernie would surely jostling for at most 2 spots.

Honestly, I would love to see Melb keep Mrdja, he's old and I think his best days are over. Lately he's been scoring, but most of those are penalties. Payne is from Umina and can not only play striker but also can play out wide. Can run with the ball and beat players, aswell as shooting and holding the ball up. If we nurture him well he could be to the equivalent of Jedinak. (Best player in our squad etc)
I know we don't really have that many funds but Payne would be fairly cheap and well worth the cash IMO. Bench regular until he can replace either McBreen-Matty.
Barbiero or Leckie would be the other one I would really like, young, promising and quick. Can play anywhere in the attacking parts of the field. From AM, either wing and upfront as a pacy run off forward. Both can shoot outside the box etc etc.
