SIGN MIFSUD!

It has been said on this forum before, Malta's greatest export is without a club and would definitely do well here.

One can only dream.

Time to start rebuilding for next season-

Joshua Rose for left back? The last few games has proved we need someone who knows what they are doing back there.

Kasey Wehrman? Getting old but very experienced. I wonder how much he has left in the tank.

Mrdja commits to one more, with a detour

Foundation Central Coast Mariners striker Nik Mrdja has signed on for a further season in the Yellow and Navy, taking his contract through to the end of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season.

As part of the deal, the former Qantas Socceroo will link up with Melbourne Victory for the final two matches of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 regular season, finals series, and the group stage and round of 16 of the AFC Asian Champions League.

Nik has been in some terrific form for us over the past few rounds, and heading to Melbourne will help him gain valuable match fitness over the coming months, before he returns to us to begin the new campaign, said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

Mrdja has played 17 matches so far this season, scoring six goals, and will be eligible to line up for the Victory in tonights home match against North Queensland Fury.

I have been really happy with the way I have playing, but as a footballer you always want to be at the top of your game, and getting regular game time over the next few months will help me get to where I want to be.

The last Asian Champions League campaign was a great experience and I cant wait to be a part of it again, while at the same time, Im keen to continue what I have started here at the Mariners, said Mrdja.

In Mrdjas absence, the club has moved to sign local junior Brady Smith in time for tomorrows F3 derby against Newcastle, and is in line to make his Hyundai A-League debut in jersey number 24 in the remaining two matches of the current season.

The Central Coast Mariners next home match of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season will be against Newcastle Jets this Saturday, 6 February. Kick-off is at 3:10pm. Tickets are available online at www.ccmariners.com.au <http://www.ccmariners.com.au> or by phoning 132 849.

I didn't think you could be loaned between a-league clubs. McBreen had his contract cancelled so he could go to Perth and Downey was the same for his move from Perth to the Furries.

Injury cover for Archie.

We did it with Aloi$i

for celeski actually

apparently he goes off contract with us (released early) and we resign him june 1

should save the club about $50000 - $65000

so he's been on $150k-$195k. by my reckoning he's delivered about the last 6 weeks of value for money, the rest of this last season...

Thats a nice amount saved there.

Only two problems I see

1) I hope the interest from Melb didn't push up his wage.
2) Playing ACL, A-league season, ACL, A-league season means he has/will play two full seasons without much break. For someone with injury problems it's not ideal, but if he's able to keep up his form we should get a full season out of him a his best.

I thought he played well with Melbourne as well... other than the one-on-one he stuffed.
Should do him good for his confidence and fitness.

Lawrie said on Fox Sports that there will be a lot of changes with players coming off contract and Arnie coming in - Boogs, Heff, Redders and Dappuzzo have gone; Clarky now retired; Elrich,McAllister and Travis won't be retained.  It would not surprise me if McGlinchey doesn't return and/or if Doig returns to UK.
