I personally think Lawrie has taken the shit he has been served up with this season with great grace and shouldnt be sacked as a scapegoat.

If they did though, would rather Kossie any day than Arnoldout.

+1, i'm sure he has been denied a few signings this season and particularly last few seasons as well, hasnt been able to resign boogs, heff, redders, no consistency with training grounds, and having to play 2 "home" games is hardly his fault

None of the names mentioned make any sense to replace McKinna.

It's arguable whether or not he should be sacked.
It's not arguable that to justifiably sack him you would need someone of a distinctly higher quality to step in. None of the names mentioned come close.

I hear Frank Farina is still looking for work. Anyway, IMO we should stick with Lawrie.

Lawrie will be there somewhere. With the COE beginning is it to to restructure the coaching setup?

Once our season is over though we need to have some certainty. An annoucement on the coaching stucture has to be made quickly. If Lawrie is staying in his current position - say so. If he is changing positions - say so.

. i can see the pre-match adverts now:

. if you drink and drive you're a bloody idiot
. if you drink and drive twice* ... you're a f**king lunatic ... just like our coach

* this is only the number of times he has been charged, that i know of

. agreed, but if we can't afford players ... how the hell are we going to afford a significantly better coach?

. plus if lawrie does move up/sideways ... you aren't saving on his salary either

Forget changing the manager, change the Stadium - we've won one game in about a thousand at Bluetongue but we are unbeaten in Canberra with a win and a draw.

Ernie Merrick is the only A-league coach with a better record than Lawrie, and I would suggest he's had a shitload more money to play with than Lawrie.
The coach is only as good as the cattle on the paddock - will a new coach do any better with the cattle we have at the moment? That I believe is the question that needs to be answered before we move Lawrie either outwards or upwards.

I don't really understand it either. I think the perception is that Lawrie is too nice a guy. It was OK when he had Ferguson there because from all accounts he was an absolute bastard but I hear Tobin is too similiar to Lawrie so the coaching staff is lacking some  mongrel which Kossie or one of the other will bring.

Personally I'd prefer Lawrie to Farina, Arnold or Kossie. Arnold looks the best on paper given his recent experience but he rubs players the wrong way and doesn't get results (a bit like Ange P) which is not a great combination for a manager.

On the other hand I think the Lawrie apologists have made little bit too much of the amount of money he has had to spend and the training facilties for the team. Both Van Egmond and Culina have been reasonably successful up the road with probably similar trying conditions but an absolute wanker for a boss. Culina has also managed some decent egos up there as well which is all part of the job in a professional sporting organisation (subtle jibe at no dickhead policy).

Six wins in thirty four games would have the noose hanging out for any other manager but Lawrie. To suggest another manager couldn't get better results is an argument without a lot of water IMO. It's only because he is Lawrie that he still has a job because everyone loves him and we really don't want to lose him.

My point is that the COE will be set up - it not actually start - this year. Appointing someone as the head of that will necessitate a change in the coaching structure. I fully expect Lawrie to be in the stucture somewhere - maybe in his current role. I really don't want any of Arnold, Farina or Kozzie anywhere in the structure.

Speculation in the media, which will only increase as our serason comes to a close, needs to be met by a definitive answer on Lawrie's role going forward. The wishy-washy comments by Lyall last time Arnold was mentioned won't help anyone.

Id take branko. But agree with jaza, no point changing lawrie to bring in someone who isnt significantly better.

Maybe Lawries over the job? Can't see any reason why they would replace with dross unless they have a vacancy with no fundage.

I'm just waiting for the Lawrie haters to complain about how much they don't like the new manager.
