Sincerely beleive he could be one of the top five strikers in the league.
So my call is that he may well prove to be a great signing for us.

I will be absolutely delighted if you're right, and I really hope that you are.

Dreaming.

There's a reason he failed trials with AUFC and WPFC a year before coming home to NQFC.

"I don't like the transfer and have "hated" it when i first heard it but now I'm coming round. We're swapping a shit winger (we have at least 2 more players in that position) with a shit striker (a position we need). So we're getting player we SHOULD (case: Dadi) be able to play or at least sit on the bench."

I pinched the above quote from a Glory supporter on 442 commenting on the transfer/swap of McBreen for Downey. His description of McBreen is common amongst those who talk on there.
I am very worried about him being here next year. Are we really getting what we think we are?

I admit I've only seen him live twice, and only a couple of times on the Teev, so I'm no expert on his quality, but I have already said I wasn't impressed Saturday night. I've also already said that I think he's too much like what we already have.

The general consensus on that forum was that Fury were getting by far the best of the deal. A bit of a worry.

I've watched every game McBreens played this year and by my estimation, he is the sstrongest forward in the league along with Sergio van Dijk. He's more of a handful than Matty with a better arsenal of scoring techniques, and decent pace. The closest I've come to seeing him bullied out of a game was the first game against us... but he still got on the sheet.

That said, he hasn't got on the sheet anywhere near as much as he should have but he shone in many games even when Fury were being dominated. Importantly, he also makes good runs.

Sincerely beleive he could be one of the top five strikers in the league.

I'm with you on this one FP. Although I facetiously bagged him in another thread it was more to do with his similarity to our current strikers and Lawries obsession with size up front rather than a reflection on his ability. I would class him just like Matty except he's older, wiser, is composed on the ball, has a decent touch and shoots with intent. I reckon he's been desperately unlucky not to score more goals this year and has hit the woodwork quite a few times. The worst bit of play I've seen from him all year was when he fluffed it against us near the end last game.

Nik really needed some help upfront tonight. McBreen receiving in the box, laying off the Mrdja and unleashing his deadly left peg sounds quite nice.

Watching McBreen in a few games... he creates a lot of chances but just seems to stuff them up. Perhaps a few goals and some confidence in a new team could change that, but I still think it is a bit of a wasted signing. I think he will just be a replacement for MacAllister.

I suppose he must have been doing something right to keep Daal on the bench for so long, and it seems he's only been dumped because he's coming to us next season.
I really hope he turns out to be the top signing we all want, but I can't help worrying.
Nevertheless, I won't bag him when he gets here, I'll cheer for him as loud as for every other member of the team.

McBreen showed tonight that he might be the battering ram we thought we were getting in Dmac (and didnt).

Won most headers and is quite happy to batter the CB's. Got a couple of nice ones on Princess and was winding Musc**t up nicely.

2 decent wingers, Nik (in form) and McBreen up front with Matty as back up and we will look much more dangerous.

It gives us options. Ball to Niks feet for him to hold up or crossed in for either.

Get some FB's and we might go ok

Isn't this what Matty does? Why do we need more players like this? I'd much prefer players with skill and technique as opposed to another battering ram type player. This is where we are getting pub team image from.

We have 2 skillful players in Travis and Wee Mac where we should be building a team around and I'm not too sure replacing like with like is the answer.

Not lately no... atleast not too much effect. More importantly I thinnk McBreen does it better and can shoot from outside the box and score.

I think Matty may struggle to get off the bench next year if Nik keeps form. Especially if we hopefully sign a marquee striker or creative mid.

f**k it.

Redders is probably right and he shouldn't be denied the opportunity that's for sure. Was hoping he'd re-sign and then be offered the chance to make an OS move, perhaps with SUFC. It's just a worry if Danny makes a move now...

Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne will leave the club at the end of the season to link up with Brisbane Roar.

Redmayne, a local junior, has been the understudy to Qantas Socceroos squad member Danny Vukovic for the last three seasons, and will move north of the border in search of regular first team football.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has played just three matches, one of those as a substitute, since joining the club prior to the 2007 Pre-Season Cup tournament.

"I was excited by the new challenge of a new place, but also the opportunity to play first team football.

"Im a Coast boy and Id like to thank everyone at the club for giving me an opportunity, but Im looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone," said Redmayne.

Redmayne will remain at the Mariners until the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season.

The Mariners next home match of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season will be against Gold Coast United on Friday, 22 January. Kick-off is at 8:00pm. Tickets are available online here or by phoning 132 849.

Last I heard, Bozanic had a few offers, including one from Reading, but is tossing up whether to stay with Reading or playing with a League 1 team where he might get more game time.
He was close to getting into the first team last season but glandular fever took him back quite a few steps.
