The love children of our super coach :-X hutcho mrdja and kwassie need a Stella end if the season or leave because they are hopeless ATM we need some signing to get the community excited we havnt done that since Aloi$i.

If you hadn't noticed, only one of those is off contract at the end of the season, and his position is clearly already the subject of considerable discussion. That player - Mrdja - is in the best form for us he's ever been in.

Kwasnik's deal ends next year, and he's been a bit player for the most part this year.

Hutchinson isn't in great form at the moment, but for much of this season he's been fantastic. It's probably no coincidence that the team's loss of form has coincided with his.

Hutch was definitely looking better when the rest of the midfield was firing. Now that they're not, he's seems pedestrian because he's not surrounded by people providing options everywhere. I dont think he's been bad enough to drop (as if), but just not adding any positive influence.

I read the local paper this morning, we have not had nets for 6 weeks to do practice. Can you imagine Alex Ferguson or even Blue Square clubs not having training equipment like portable goals etc, the players would say what kind of f_ _ _ked club is this. Ther mariners are supposed to be a professional football club, bollocks get some real football people in.

If Travis was dropped for his performance on NYE, Hutch's performance on Saturday deserves the same fate.

He was awful, hence the subbing

I wonder how that happened and if any other clubs have lack of equipment issues?

Why wouldnt Pluim be our permanent training base? Are relations with CCF that bad?

Whilst not as good as the facilities other clubs have, it would be better than some of the places we train. They also have nets and goals too.

Holy Shit!

Can anyone confirm this as the truth?

I so, no wonder we had problems finding the back of the net. Also goes far to explain the performances of guys that wouldn't be used to that sort of shit.

Agree this is not good, and would have to have some effect on the way we are playing, but, let's look at the big picture. In a few years we will have the best training facilities in the HAL.

To be fair Hutch has been consistently one of our best all year. I think that was his first quiet game and as someone else mentioned he may have taken the defensive side of his duties a little too seriously.

I think Travis has been a little inconsistent as you would expect from a young bloke that hasn't played much top team football. I think peoples expectations of these new young blokes that we've signed are way too high and it will take time for them to develop the mental toughness required to perform every week. Look at Carlos Hernandez he's one of the best in the A-League and it took him a whole season to come good.

I just hope we can hang onto McGlinchy & Travis long enough to either reap the benefits on the field or off the field financially when we sell them.

Mike Cockerill reports Payne is still looking for a contract. Someone with pace to feed off the big boppas and wouldn't be too expensive. He's also a bloke that hasn't forgotten his roots. He is often down at Umina Oval training kiddies on Tuesday and Thursday nights and attended both senior and junior presentations this year.

I tweeted Lawrie suggesting he have a look at Payne for next season... Young, talented, local and off contract. Perfect squad player.

Did notice this tweet after the last SFC game...

"Chris payne did well and should have got the winner for syd in the 90th min. Final score nil all"

For mine, I just haven't seen enough of him to have a formed opinion.

Can you enlighten Jaza?

"I don't like the transfer and have "hated" it when i first heard it but now I'm coming round. We're swapping a shit winger (we have at least 2 more players in that position) with a shit striker (a position we need). So we're getting player we SHOULD (case: Dadi) be able to play or at least sit on the bench."

I pinched the above quote from a Glory supporter on 442 commenting on the transfer/swap of McBreen for Downey. His description of McBreen is common amongst those who talk on there.
I am very worried about him being here next year. Are we really getting what we think we are?

I admit I've only seen him live twice, and only a couple of times on the Teev, so I'm no expert on his quality, but I have already said I wasn't impressed Saturday night. I've also already said that I think he's too much like what we already have.

The general consensus on that forum was that Fury were getting by far the best of the deal. A bit of a worry.

I like him, but he's still super raw. Does well in NYL, goal every 2-3 games. Has all the technique there, better than most NYL strikers, but speed of thought lets him down a fair bit. Good with the ball at feet, about 6ft tall, could lead the line in a similar way to Matt Simon and Mark Bridge, but not a target man (as they are not).
Would be off the pace at HAL level atm, but the problem is that the only way to learn that is to play it. He's at the point now where it's play HAL (even semi-frequently), or bust. I wish he'd had more game time for us this year tbh, given the form slumps of Aloisi and Bridge at certain times he's deserved to be out there instead.

TOuch and go if we re-sign him next year. We'll have four forwards on our books, two of whom are Brosque and Bridge. Vitja doesn't rate Payne to take up the other key striker role, so if he gets re-signed it will be as 4th choice again. That just depends on if we sign Kerim Bulut or not, who is a more exciting youth prospect a few years younger.

Payne doesn't really suit CCM in terms of quality. If your first 3 forwards are SImon, McBReen and Payne, it's hard to succeed IMO.

I've watched every game McBreens played this year and by my estimation, he is the sstrongest forward in the league along with Sergio van Dijk. He's more of a handful than Matty with a better arsenal of scoring techniques, and decent pace. The closest I've come to seeing him bullied out of a game was the first game against us... but he still got on the sheet.

That said, he hasn't got on the sheet anywhere near as much as he should have but he shone in many games even when Fury were being dominated. Importantly, he also makes good runs.

Sincerely beleive he could be one of the top five strikers in the league.
So my call is that he may well prove to be a great signing for us.
