ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Roar fans absolutely hate going to Robina (shit ground in the middle of nowhere)
Bloody Hell! It's less than 10 mins. walk from Robina station. It's a rip down the M1 with plenty of parking 2 mins. away. Geeze, we probably spend more time driving/parking.walking to a game at CCS.What are they? Spoiled? Obviously they must be.

To be fair, you could say the same about CC to Newcastle (roughly similar distance, freeway etc) but our fans dont travel either

(ok, the scum are violent thugs but you get my point)

If we didn't have to risk our physical well-being, we might travel there more often.

Obviously the Mariners are going through some extra challenging times

I certainly hope the club owners and management can work through this effectively based around a strategic approach that flexes and is agile

(There can't afford to be a loss of confidence in the playing group for coaching direction)

Our A-League needs a healthy and well performing CCM, for the greater good of our football

Wishing you the fans and your club well in 2016 and a bounce back to success on and off the field

Looking forward to next visit to Gosford inc our ritual pregame meet up at the Curry House!

cheers, Pablo
(foundation WSW member and lifelong Socceroos supporter)

Hi Shaun
Just wondering why we handed over all promotion at the Simmonds Stadium to Victory? Surely we could of converted a few to our cause because we decided to play in Geelong not Victory even if we are just using this game as a payday.

Fairly sure the whole deal came about because Victory signed a 3 year deal with Simmonds but for whatever reason this season they couldn't fulfill it.It was only a home game in that we would make the profit off of it if we gave one of our home games so Victory could hold their end of the deal to play a game there. Not much else would have been in our control.

It did come about because of Victory's initial deal but that doesn't or shouldn't have meant that we handed over a potential chance to create new fans. Victory had a contractual obligation to play their yes but in the end it was still our home game and we should have been able to dictate the terms of the agreement with Victory meaning giving us much more control. I just think we missed a big opportunity for little output. Because even if we are getting paid to do it we still decided to play in Geelong and we should have made a play for a fanbase there. If Victory's initial terms of the agreement with us didn't allow this then we say we don't want it without our own terms. It's not like Victory could have gone to any other clubs.

Totally get what you're saying but when you're as desperate for cash as we are you don't knock back a deal when you're guranteed a profit. We lose 30-40k at home with a crowd of 5-7 thousand.Last night we made 80k profit and there was little to no cost for the club.
As far as making new fans down there I think it's pointless. If it were to cost money in terms of running a few clinics or advertising,we are better off doing it here.

Gee I dunno JP. I think you're drawing a very long bow to say we could have established a fan base in Geelong. After all the Mexicans hate us almost as much as the Cane Toads do (VicMariner excepted, of course :) ).

I tend to agree we probably wouldn't have gotten many if any supporters out of it but Victory were in the tightest position possible. If they hadn't fufilled their contractual obligation to Geelong they would have been in deep trouble and going to us was their only option. I just think we could have had this game more on our terms and could have possibly made them pay to advertise for us. Because seriously looking around the league where else could they have gone?

Essentially this nails it.

And given the reaction to the promotion of the NSO game last year, the club is put in a lose-lose situation.

Good point. It would be another case of 'you made more effort to promote a home-away-from-home game than our actual home games...'.

Look at it this way - it's clearly a pragmatic move to make a buck or two. Nobody in their right mind would come to the conclusion that it's an effort to relocate!

$120,000 is what Mick is quoting on the Sydney forum.

Wasn`t that our regional game?
We would have had to play a home game away somewhere, so it makes good sense to play where there is guaranteed to be a crowd

Mikey C and the caravans move in for the week.

We tarmac a few driveways, insulate a few lofts and empty a few houses and get paid $120k.

Its a win for Mikey and DelBoy Storrie and the local Geelong bottle shop marvel at selling out of all the Guinness and Kilkenny they had in stock.

Maybe next year Port Macquarie or Coffs could enjoy the travelling Mariners circus.

Not sure about this "regional game" idea... I don't think it's an actual thing and I don't think all clubs do it.
