ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

MC / Shaun ... this is a salary capped league so being competitive should not be this hard...

It was explained recently:
Mike Phelan as Sporting director will continue to report to the Board on all football matters including the Hyundai A-League, Mariners Academy and player recruitment.
Shaun Mielekamp as Chief Executive Officer will continue to report to the Board on all administrative and commercial operations of the football club, Centre of Excellence and strategic planning.
https://www.ccmariners.com.au/news/anton-tagliaferro-kamran-khan-welcomed-mariners-board-directors

"commercial operations of the football club" could mean hiring of coaches etc. but the flavour of the above suggests otherwise

So Mike Phelan is our football director and is in Manchester as Man U's assistant manager.

However he has put things in place for CCM and will return to Australia if he is needed.

Lucky everything is cruising along nicely and we do not need a director of football.

I don't really get the hate for Melling, yes he makes some mistakes but his workrate is huge, he's gotten better over the season and unless we're overpaying for him is a reasonable backup/sub option. Perhaps in a better drilled team with a link from defence to attack he wouldn't cough up possession so much. If we have Nisbet as well we've got two different types of player that gives a manager flexibility without investing a huge amount in midfield depth. We need to be smart with our spending.

Ahhh Melling. For 23, he is still a pretty good prospect. But the fact he can’t consistently pass a ball to his team mates yet makes him a seriously double edged sword.

Can we afford costly mistakes and consistent unforced errors that result in turn overs if we’re ever to turn our football around? Yet imo, these past two weeks we’ve clearly missed his energy and aggression.

I think he’s improving. But improving quick enough is hard to say.

Phelan was a huge win and an amazing appointment imo. But as soon as he agreed to go back to United, no way it was ever going to work and it became exactly what we didn’t need.

I may have missed the part where Phelan helped us

Heh.

The club clearly missed out on his potential to help us. But he obviously had huge potential to benefit us and losing him is not their fault in this instance.

We now need an actual director of football though again. And to not recognise this and replace him would be a mistake that’s on the club I think.

My understanding is that Phelan was responsible to c**tsworth regarding all players. If true Shaun is not guilty of this travesty of a season. It's down to c**tsworth and Mulvey.........and although Vulvey has f**ked up a lot......the bottom line is c**tsworth sent him into the fight blindfolded and with one arm tied behind his back.

From 16th July - 19th December which means the DDS loan to Sydney, Macdonald, Murray, Millar, McCormack and Oar signings and the O'Neill loan,

Time to face the music ... we need to know whats going to happen next year... what are / is the plan to turn this around...

Hold some community forums before its to late .... its gone from, disappointment, to anger, to sadness, to despair and is now entering I don't care anymore phase, very hard to win people back if they walk away ... wanta an example look at Perth Glory, NSL crowds 13to 15K... as was early Hal... they pissed off or sorry FFA pissed off their fans and they have never recovered...

CCMFC is an important cultural and financial asset for the Central Coast.
In a similar way to Pelican feeding at The Entrance, the beaches, fishing, the Reptile Park and other tourist attractions.

I wonder how local councils would react if one of those assets were ruined or taken away from the coast?

The once mighty CCMFC is no more, it's been ruined. The locals for the most part whinge and complain about the team and club. Crowd numbers are down as are financial gains from game days.

My point is that the time has come for other parties outside of CCMFC to ask questions before we lose one of the Coast's cultural and financial assets. Because once it's gone, it's gone.

Hoi MEIKELKAMP...enough is too much , it’s about time you stopped treating us as numbers to be crunched or even like f**king mushrooms and told us SOMETHING ...ANYTHING...we’ve barely heard a peep since you arsed Usain ....or maybe you think we don’t deserve any explanation...after all we only have been the ones buying memberships every year since the beginning....you best start keeping the loyal more informed
