ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

True
But we can when players that will be important moving forward ie, Aspro pain tom are part of it
More so - seeing NEW teams start to build or strengthen and we continue to weaken knowing we will have trouble competing for players.

My only remaining hope now is this:

* Secretly, the club are working on a plan to bring in the right people in a coaching and rebuilding capacity and are setting up a strategy for pouring in some competitive money. They are planning for targeted recruitment based on the new strategy and networks. Further, they are setting up a solid foundational philosophy to plan around for the coming 5-10 years.
Lastly, they can't tell us anything about this grand strategy until key people and plans are locked in without risking or undermining the outcome.* [Please note: everything between the *s is entirely speculative and based on no information of any kind].

Unless * is actually true I have run out of hope and can't see any alternative other than the end of CCM days, either now or painfully slowly over the next year or 2.

I personally think this is far more likely given:

A) The character Shaun has shown while here
B) that we’re still a valuable asset even now
C) there’s definitely exciting possibilities for our club in the long term if we can get through this
D) selling when you’re at rock bottom is a great way to lose money
E) the sale of the license even if allowed would badly damage the value of other assets like the COE
F) MC finally has what he wanted with the FFA losing control

Not a good time to sell imo. And simply folding would be a tragedy, monumental failure, and ludicrous business decision.

Only incentive I can see for Charlesworth to fold, is to give the finger to the fans who berate him on here. But proving everyone wrong would be sweeter I’m sure.

There is talk of a second division being up and running by 20/21, therefore we only have two years to get our act together. The independent HAL might just see this as the best way to deal with us. No one can be blamed and it wouldn’t damage the licensees etc. if they allowed MC to sell or relocate. Wouldn’t this be an expensive lesson for MC and nothing he can do about it. There would be a lot of people tipping us to be the first club relegated and I can’t blame them.

I highly doubt Charlesworth will fold or the club is going anywhere. People who attended “open Mike night” at the end of last season will remember that Charlesworth said he will invest in the club & spend the cap and upwards ONLY when the FFA lose control of a-league clubs and rumours are this could come in as early as next season. I hate to be the only optimist on the forum atm but I think something is brewing at the club and it’s a positive.

He’s getting VERY close to the point where regardless of what he spends, no one will come.

I really hope you're right, I don't want to go back to watching cricket in the summer. :D

Pro/Rel won’t be introduced at the same time. But we’ll be lucky to make it to 2021 in current state IMO. Lack of contract renewals is extremely f**king worrying. Though, why should I care if it’s going to be another year of this absolute shit. I’ll still renew and will continue to while we exist (f**k anyone who grandstands and ponces about saying “oh I’m not renewing because blah blah blah”, what a cop out), but still I pray the silence from the club isn’t actually our death knell.

Lack of contract renewals is indeed extremely f**king worrying.
Everything coming out suggests the opposite.

It's clear we're going to have trouble attracting players, and are also up against new teams, so obviously need to be smart and energetic.

Yet rather than retaining our best and going after and locking down players for next season, all we seem to see are comments like this
"Pain is looking for a fresh start after nearly three seasons with the under-performing Mariners, and with no contract extension offer currently on the table is likely to depart Gosford at season’s end."
https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league-new-boys-western-united-target-pain-and-georgievski

All movement is outwards. Death by attrition.

If it's not palliative care we going into then I'd love to know what IS going on.

TBH I'm not sure what is going on - I can see why people think we will not be next year. Equally though there are enough HAL players, aussies abroad, visa players and NPL players that will be off contract at the end of the year to put together a very decent squad. If we are talking to returning Aussies and visa players at the moment then the Australian football media may have no idea about it. As others have pointed out now would be a strange time to sell or walk away.

If we want to compete next season then we need to make a couple of big signings soon in the attacking third. Ideally a 10 and a striker. If we can show intent then other players may be convinced that a change is coming in the attitude of the club with the advent of an independent league. Landing a couple of big fish would make the place a lot more attractive for Australians returning home. If we don't make a statement of intent then we will be left with the dregs of other clubs and or pay too much for average players.

Apparently we have already signed ‘some exciting new players’ for next season, that will be announced at the end of the season.

Given the club’s miserable failure during the January window and the team’s continued failure in the league, I won’t be holding my breath on this.....

Interesting. That, for me, is at least something. As far as I could tell we were doing nothing except letting players go.

Intertesting. But yes, we can’t believe anything till we see it.

Mind you they should tell us now, don’t they know our seasons over?

If they play for other clubs it’s not the done thing. We are upset about Millar rumours so unless it’s a jets player we so should stick to doing the right thing

Yeah agree, just ‘trying’ to make a joke about the fact they said there were waiting till our season is over.

After reading my breakfast tea leaves, I am going to make a fearless prediction.

Stay with me, it is positive.

If they are signing players for next year and keeping it secret it can be because the players are currently with another A-League club and they do not want to announce them yet. Understandable, but usually impossible to keep secret (like Millar) or not to hear rumours (like Pain and Aspro).

My prediction is that they have found a new coach and do not want to make any announcements until this season is over. The club has already signed a couple of players selected by the new coach. Quality internationals hopefully. MM is out of the loop but has probably been told his services are no longer required after this season.

Everything is being kept tightly under wraps because there is a massive clean out in process and this season has to be completed.

Total regeneration about to happen.

Oh, the coaches name.........
just a guess.................

Mike Phelan.
