Just like all of our rumoured signings, it has been dismissed by Lyall.

EXCLUSIVE: Central Coast Mariners today dismissed reports ex-Socceroo Mark Bosnich was set to sign for the club...but admitted they'd love to talk to him.
Mariners chairman Lyall Gorman told au.fourfourtwo.com the club had not spoken to the controversial goalkeeper or his management about any position with the club.

"We have had no discussions in any shape or form," said Gorman this afternoon. "There's nothing to it. That doesn't mean we would be interested in him though...

"We are always interested in quality footballers - but I can assure you there has been no contact whatsoever.

"There will be no surprise announcement next week about this, I promise."

Gorman confessed he would love to see Bosnich join the Gosford outfit - and was convinced the former Chelsea and Manchester United bad boy had changed his ways.

Bosnich's career ended in tatters after he descended into a spiral of drink and drugs that finished him in the English Premier League.

But Gorman believes Bosnich is worth giving a second chance.

"I am sure it's all in the past for him," said Gorman. "I really believe that people make mistakes and you learn from it.

"Look at Danny Vukovic - he got sent off in the grand final and I'm quite sure he's learnt from that and won't do it again.

"You have to allow players to make mistakes and learn from the experience...and then move forward.

"Mark has had lots of issues in the past but I'm sure he's much wiser now for all of that."

The Mariners chairman doubts the A-League will be the place for Bosnich to make his footballing comeback with the former Australia number one setting his sights higher.

But he reckons Bozza would be a great addition to the local game.

He added: "He was a truly great goalkeeper but we haven't seen him touch a ball in God knows how long.

"But he was a big personality and a great character as well as a superb footballer and we always need those in any league."

Gorman admitted though: "I'd be very surprised if the A-League was his currently intended destination.

"But if someone comes to us and wants to talk about him joining us, we'd be very willing to listen."

I really dont think we need him. His 36 which means he'll injure easily & then could be out for the season. im sure he wont come cheap either. So his a waste of money in my eyes. Keep the young guns coming & build them up

Give Trotty a go!!

Yawn. I'd fall over with shock if they ever come up with something original and witty.

Mark Bosnich would attract plenty of media attention both here in Australia and abroad - so if we are thinking "big picture", the signing would be a win-win for both parties AND the A-League.

Bosnich, despite his fall from grace, attracts publicity - as they say - any publicity is good publicity. Keep in mind, guys like Danny and Matt would learn more from Bosnich in his guest appearance than at any other time in their career.

If we sign Bosnich, I am over the moon. Like Aloisi, he is one of my favourite all-time players.

If we don't, I am none concerned though hope he lands in the A-League where as above, the pros far outweigh the cons.

the biggest con can far outweigh any pro - can he still play?

all great having all this profile and publicity but if he hurts our chances of winning the title again then what use is he?

big risk as he has been out of the game for so long and i just cannot see lawrie taking such a punt

remember that jardel used to be one of the greatest strikers in the world once and he is younger than bosnich!

Playing Trott will probably cost us the title.

I don,t know how fit Bozza is ....thats for Lawrie etc to work out but he,s certainly worked hard to get back into some sort of shape compared to where he was a few years ago_Once Jardel got fat he stayed like that!

His age isn,t really all that relevant for a keeper and a 7 match guest stint.
