Think BIG picture guys

Danny will be with the Mariners for another 2 years, MAX, but after the olympics and the end of v4, I cant see him in the yellow again. We need a new long term 1st choice keeper. Personally, I cant see that being Trott.

Bozza?
Hendo?

Anyones thoughts?

Henderson got relegated and leicester fans seem to think he wont be their first choice keeper next year.
Was he at spirit when lawrie was?

I didnt think he was 1st choice anyway? You learn something new everyday.

And yes he was at spirit with Lawrie. I know NOTHING about him as a player, only what I hear off Ursus, but according to him he was solid, and a crowd favourite, and thats enough for me. Sign him up.

He was a good keeper at Spirit and would probably be a good signing for us.Also I think you,re right about Danny. He won,t be here for V5 and I can,t see Trott being his replacement.
Whats Van Stratten doing? I know he was being discussed at one point somewhere on the forum.

He is 2nd or 3rd choice for Juventus, no chance

I thought he was only on loan at Juve

I wouldn't rule out a return for him in two years tbh

"He would be involved in a controversial transfer saga in the summer of 2007. After ending his contract with Verona (which was due expire in 2008), Jess returned home to Australia in June, citing personal reasons, only to sign for Juventus a month later.

Vanstrattan played some pre-season games for the Old Lady, becoming the first Australian to turn out for the club. However, in early August 2007, the Lega Calcio ruled that the goalkeeper's contract at Juventus was illegal and was to be cancelled.

Now officially under contract to Verona once again, the two clubs have agreed on a loan deal which saw the player return to Juventus on August 21 in time for the 2007-08 Serie A season."

Still, it would be a bad career move, IMO, to go from bench at Juve to CCMFC in any way. 1 injury to Buffon, and he is starting for Juventus. JUVENTUS. If Claudio Ranieri can see enough in him to have him, he would be stupid to come back here at this stage in his career, unless its for personal reasons

So his contract must be up or close to it.Has he been offered another one?

From a convo i had with danny a while back, he was certainly interested in a move overseas most likely after his contract comes up. The olympics could see that happen sooner. Either way i doubt V4 will see danny in the yellow and navy.

I think i read that VS signed a new contract at juve.
In a funny side story, a mate of mine spent time down with juve, as he is a friend of jess'. They gave him a juve jacket, and when they were heading out of the hotel there were a number of fans there. One of the juve players, a frenchman, cant remember his name, signed a ball for one of the fans, and passed it to my mate. They all looked at him waiting for him to sign it, so he did, and they were stoked. The juve players all thought it was hilarious.

Lucky bastard he is.

Also bozza would be a quality replacement.

Hendo was playing all season, would be weird for him to not be playing next if they got relegated. e would probably look around england if no longer needed at leic.

hmmm....i dont think Danny would leave us until end of V4...although if we made a genuine 1st choice GK signing eg. Bosnich, it would give him the chance to leave us in good hands (lol, no pun intended).

Mariners approach Bosnich: report

June 05, 2008

CONTROVERSIAL former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has been offered a guest stint with A-League club Central Coast Mariners.

With regular goalkeeper Danny Vukovic suspended for the first seven games of the season, the Mariners are understood to have approached the former Aston Villa custodian about a short term deal.

It has been reported Bosnich, 36, had discussions with the club's deputy chairman Peter Turnbull, when he was in Australia attending the FIFA Congress.

While coach Lawrie McKinna denied there had been an approach to Bosnich he said the club would happily consider him.

"He's been a quality goalkeeper over the years,'' McKinna said.

"You never say never and Mark Bosnich was one of the best keepers in the world on his day, and if he was fit and back in shape, of course you'd look at him.''

Bosnich struggled for regular first team football after moving from Aston Villa to Manchester United in 1999, then briefly Chelsea.

He developed a cocaine addiction and was regularly featured in the English tabloids with ongoing relationship dramas.

Bosnich last played a professional match in 2002 but trained with the Queens Park Rangers last year.

Let's hope not I'd rather see Matt there doing his best.

I think we would all love for Trott to be able to hold us up, think of the benefits there, 1 less squad player, a lot more money available and more options for other roles.
But sadly, I don't think he's quite up to it yet, YES he's done very well for the past 2 games, but sadly he still does look shaky at times.
I think his time will come, but not this season, however I do hope he gets game time and not some shattering 5-0 defeats... His confidence and communication has gone up 10-fold and will only continue to.
