Pure and simple, the guy is a mercenary. Let's face it, he is already a multi-millionaire and I thought at his stage of his career, after being overseas for so many years that his family's lifestyle would be more important to him than the money.

He always said he was coming back to win trophies and with us he has done that and has the opportunity to play ACL. It's an important thing to remember that we were the one's who took him on when he hadn't played for months and no other club could agree terms with him. We stumped up $500,000 for half a season, which is massive money in any sport in Australia, let alone Football. Nobody else would do it.

Of course, his return for us was very good. I think part of his frustration towards the end of the season was we couldn't supply him the service he needed to score more. For want of a better example, if for instance we had a Corica or Junihno, he would have got close to a goal a game with that sort of quality service. We don't play the style or have players to offer him the service. Put aside cynicism for a minute, I wonder if this was a factor in him going elsewhere. Who knows? I don't know if it made any difference to his decision or not but maybe it did.

However, with him, Viddie, Tommy and Gumps gone, we have massive shoes to fill. Not very easy to replace that sort of experience. I'm sure we'll come up with some good buys, but I'm not confident we'll have a squad next season as strong as the one we just finished with.

As Martin Luther King once said in his "Mountain Top" speech, we've got some difficult days ahead.

Well, now I've dealt with my ten year old son who wanted to try and scratch Aloisi from the back of his jersey, lol, I can add my two cents.

JA did well by us, but we all know he's on the wind down as do the cove it seems. I think James_sfc mentioned something about Sydney having 6 strikers now with a big WTF... Which makes me think that Bling management probably wants JA in a large degree for his community profile - in which regard I think Sydney could do with a positive boost, so to be fair on that front I think he could be a good signing for them. However, for us... the truth is while he still positions well and can hold up a ball, his combination with Sasho who is still on contract, and the degree to which he's slowing down, really doesn't interest me for another A league season - let alone we wait another 12 plus months of slowing down time before then making our Asia campaign - and winning the ACL would be even more important to me than the A league (though naturally we want to win the lot.) I think as Andy astutely stated before, that the management must have had these sort of discussions. They are clearly big picture people. Which is why they are so exciting! We just always seem to be one step ahead of the game in this regard. Aloisi was an increible signing on the year of his return, and it was fantstic for the profile of our club. But for SFC he is only a "good" signing now I believe - I still think he'll do well next season, but ultimately he'll probably be worth more to them off the field than on, so I'd much rather stay one step ahead and hopefully introduce an incredible new speedy striker, to combine with Nik, Sasho & Matty.

As to a rebuilding year.... mmmm... to some extent, but I think with return of Heff, that Boogs and Wilko will be able marshall our backline well enough, that With Jedi & Hutch in the mid, our shape and core will still be there, and our attacking game is probably the area where I worry least about making changes, so I think we'll be looking to start as strong as ever this year with a new, hopefully younger and faster squad, prepping for the ACL.

JA door closes, another door opens, and I think its better for us and dare to say that management probably did too, or they would have found a way. I sincerely doubt they hold much animosity towards JA, and I think we should follow in their footsteps. Money hungry... maybe... maybe not... If I was to tell you now that JA was putting no less than four of his extended families children through school and covering the extensive medical bills for a fifth members terminally ill child... Would that change your perspective on his being a "money hungry C...."?
By no means do I know that to be true, but nor do I know enough to say that I feel I can truly and easily condemn a professional sportsman from going to the highest bidder. John always struck me as being very good man off the field and I don't feel that this now automatically means he is a person of no moral fibre and only now worthy of abuse.

Personally... I'd rather we aspire to be a different level or class above as supporter groups go. Rather than Aloisi having to shrug off crowd baying and giving Andy harper the likely pleasure of talking about "look how the CCM have turned on him now" Instead, I prefer to imagine, Aloisi commenting sometime to some other players, that wow even after he left our club, he found, just as he did when he was there, that the CCM supporters are simply an incredible supporte group. I'd prefer Aloisi got a cheer (smaller of course) from the mariners as he runs on, like we could/should do for Tommy & Gumps, and as they turn and acknowledge the bay in gratitude, to instead now hear Andy harper commenting on the ' amazing goodwill of the Central Coast Fans". Like our management, when it comes to supporting, I think this would make us a step ahead of the others.

But ultimately, at the end of the day, the way I see it is, that it's his mistake, his loss, and our gain - I honestly believe. So thanks for the help in gaining us a premiership John, hope you enjoy being in Sydney, best of luck,  because I think it's probably going to hurt somewhat watching us continue to rise without you, while your career plays out its last days with Sydney.

But _what_ do we have to cheer him for??  Thanks for acting like a petulant brat for the second half of your time here, thanks for taking the money and running TO OUR SECOND BIGGEST RIVALS....... I'm coming up short here Sensei.  What he has done smacks of "mercenary", "no class", etc. and so forth.

Of course I will always cheer him in the Socceroo's jersey, but even then, with a little less respect than I had for him before.  It's always disappointing to discover a play you loved is nothing more than a money grubbing twat.  However, when he is in the sky blue filth of Lowy FC, he is utter fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Banners, booing, baying, backs turned - I'm for all of it.

Look at Jedinak - had offers from elsewhere, BUT CHOSE TO REPAY THE LOYALTY SHOWN TO HIM BY THE CLUB.  Now that my friends, is a class act.

Trust me when I say the money we offered Aloisi was far too much, we could get a better marquee for a third of the price, even HALF!

I'm confident we'll find another striker who can score us 10 goals in this league.

The money he asked for is just a joke, hope your dodgy knees get worse mate!

John's time with us was a big of mixed bag, some brillant some not so. But life goes on. There are very few players loyal to any club any more in any sport. Lets not sink to the level of other supporters. We will have a competitive team next year. We should cheering them on and forget the rest.

Yeah it does look like Kossie is going to fire up the long ball this year with the amount of strikers he has. The egos of Brosque, Bridge and Aloisi dictate that they would have to start every game so I guess 3 forward is the go for Sydney or one of those 3 would be looking for a new club ASAP

No offence mate but that was an awfully long and polite way to tell him to piss off!!!  ;D

id rather have the whole bay turn their backs to him than boo him.

he can shrug a boo off, it is meaningless.

in his defense... he said he was going to ask his family what they wanted... his wife may have said she wanted the more money and wanted to live on the coast still, so chose sydney, where he can commute.

I thought John came back from overseas "to give something back to Australian football."
it seems as though the dollar signs were racing thru his head and into his massive, inflated bank a/c.
Piss off SCUM !!!!!!

Now with him gone, Lawrie and the men behind the scenes, may spring another shock signing to the Mariners. I was shocked when he had signed with us as we weren't mentioned in the media during the negotiating process.
I have a feeling we may be in for another shock signing before the season begins.
