1-1 Full time, Simon was terrible and can not believe Mrdja did not score with all his shots and free kicks. Don't really know where we go from here.

Strange...
But I thought our last 35 minutes were actually considerably better and
also it was nice to see Weemac involved and doing well.
Dominated last period really and finally started playing football which was nice.
I think we were fitter in the end. Bt though it was butt ugly, I'm still glad we showed so much desire and got stuck in. Got the balance about right in the second especially with Weemac on and looking like he really wants to play again.

Mrdja played well overall again I thought, great pen, few nice attempts, but last one in the net please Nik... and its 3 points.

Where to from here...
Looks to me like we will be fighting with Perth and Brisbane for 6th spot.

But we need to score. We just can't seem to get two strikers in form at the same side.

You havent won in 6 games, confidence is down and you are away at a team fighting for its season.

Tactics 100% spot on. f**k em up, kick, niggle push and earn the right to play. top away performance for 90 mins TBH. After the goal they did nothing

The last 30 mins is the best we have played for bloody ages and in the end we should have nicked 3 points.

Nik put in a great effort, arrogant, hungry, great 1st touch and the mids are learning to put the ball into his feet (finally). Hutch much better but still too slow sometimes.

I am kinda pissed off with Matty's selfishness and giving away stupid late fouls (after the ball has gone). He is obviously now known for it so the ref keeps looking. Him out against fold coast may not hurt us TBH.

Porter proved why he needs to be playing RM (again) coulda/shoulda scored and I reckon once the 1st one goes in he will really grow into the role.

Clarkie at LB is a liability (no disrepect intended). Wee Mac coming on and Heff dropping back really helped balance us again.

Much improved lads, keep it up

better performance tonight, plenty of heart and effort but the usual quality lacking - no reflection on the intent but on paper we dont have the quality to match it with the better teams and it shows on the table... what is worse is when there is no heart shown for the jersey... good effort from the boys and maybe a little unlucky not to nick the 3 pts

From lawrie twitter-Great 90 mins from the boys again a game we should have won .boys very positive and feel we can get the results we need to get in the top 6.

Hmm, firstly it was a much better performance, but it wasnt a 90 minute performance that we needed against the bottom placed side. imo the boys should be positive in the way they played in patches, but really you cannot get into the top 6 with that kind of performance aganist a bottom placed side. we really needed a win but players like simon, clarky (who shouldnt even be playing LB) and bojic cannot afford to have these kind of performances, stupid chances wasted, misplaced passes, no talking, and terrible defending have let us down too many times

Wasnt our worst game this year bojic played alot better. Unlucky for porter nearly scored the winner. Mrdja had a half chance near the end but it was a good effort hope he get a new contract for next year he is starting to look good again, looks fit and hungry for goals gain confidence every week. It was only a good performance from galekovic that stopped us from winning

Based on the last 2 games, our current best XI seems to be

Danny
Boogs Wilko Doig Heff
Chicken Pedj Hutch Wee Mac
Mrdja & a n other

Pedj and the 2nd striker are an issue but its looking less worse than it did

On tonights performace Pedj shouldn't be in the 11.

Anyone know how the yoof went? JBrown?

For me, Mrjda was solid. If only we had a quick nippy poacher, ummmmmm like McBreen! LOL.

Hutch had a good game and agree that he was just a little slow to pass it on at times. When Wee Mac came on his passing forward was unbelievably more positive than anything we did up untill that point. Porter is great at RM and seems to work well with Mrjda and hutch.

Hate to flog a dead horse but its such a shame that Travis isn't getting a go at the striker pairing with Mrjda cause i reckon thats a winner. Simon of the bench is the last time he looked decent and i reckon the last third of a game would suit a fresh Matty well right now.

Bojic's movement and passing was for the most part very poor. The desicion to shoot well outside the box while Porter was unmarked to the right in the first half was extremely shite. Nearly made up for it with his last second defending in the 80th but it was his poor positioning that lead to the break downfield in the first place. Crowell or Huke needs a go in that spot now.

Its games like these that remind me why we are the laughing stock of the league for having Simon as our saviour, ive never rated him, makes me nervous to watch actually and teams have really figured out his style of play.....

Needs to be dropped to the youth for 3 weeks, if he doesnt perform there, question marks need to be raised on why we have an East Gosford local league player when there are better options out there!

He would make the first 13 for the central coast bears on tonights perfomance but shouldn't be in our midfield. I try not to get a set against players but I can't understand why he keeps getting a start. There is no doubting his ball winning ability but his passing is atrocious and has been most of the year.

I thought Hutch and Mrdja were brilliant tonight. I wouldn't mind seeing us going to Mrdja up front by himself next week and stack the midfield. Maybe play Mcglinchy just behind Nik to give us more attacking options.

Pedj is a dreadful passer of the ball most of the time.

Nik isnt a lone striker, needs someone to play off.

Maybe Crowell CM (although I reckon Huke is better than both) Wee Mac left

As for Travis, he isnt a striker and doesnt want to play by the looks of it so not an option it seems?

Would much prefer to see Crowell or Huke in place of Bojic as well. His decision making and passing just ruins our attack too much. I would rather throw Pedj on to run his arse off for the last 20 than have a more defensive player like Crowell on the bench.

I also preferred it when Heff was left back and just overlapping for some attack. Clarkey was too easily sucked in when Owusu was holding the ball up and left Dodd free (the same as his goal last week).

Left side is a real issue for us.

Heff is the only LB in the senior squad and is also an effective LM. Trouble is both Lewis and Wee Mac leave us exposed.

People may mock but we could do worse than Kwas at LM

Agree with all that.
Another good post FFC.

Re pedj, passing was awful but his workrate, strength and pressing is outstanding. More quality/composure on the ball and he would actually be fantastic - though I understand peoples frustration.

There were some dissapointing plays in terms of vision.  But I thought was mainly a mixture of lack of composure and confidence. Hopefully we will build again on this performance as there is not much I would enjoy more than beating Gold Coast this week and then the Jest in our final two home games.

As to upfront... Who will start in Matty's spot next week? Kwassie would be my choice in front of D Mac.

Hopefully the game off will do Matty good. Though key mistakes aside, I thought he was better than he has been the last few weeks. But we still need considerably more upfront if we are to be competitive with the top six teams. Defensively I think we can compete with any team in the league when we have Boogs Wilko Doig and Heff at the back - it's in attack we still have to step up.

And now missing next game against the Gold Coast.

not sure if this will be a weakening regarding his last performances...
Will be interesting to see if Lawrie runs Kwassie beside Nik. He'll get some chances, if he can only lower his aiming point by 200 metres.

Thats awsome that they did that, still think he should be rested from the 1st team til he gets his mojo back.
