Its okay. Lawrie's threatened to take them out on the town if they lose.

They were well and truly out on the town when I saw them play there last season. As soon as Mrdja got off the bus he went straight up to the first chick he saw and asked where the hot spots were. Later on that night we were coming out of the pub and almost walked straight into Wilko and Clarky.

strories like this is why it is called sin city among the regular mariner supporters who come up here

Agree

and lives up to its reputation again

since season one final celebrations has been my favourite away trip

matty simon is not suspended

after round 21 they raised the yellow card count to eight

He needs a rest on the bench then

out of form strikers need to keep playing so bench time would be counter-productive

perhaps a spell in youth might be in order

One thing I've noticed over the last three or four matches - the guys are now looking to pass to Nik even when Matty might be a better target. Earlier on, it was the other way around (justifiedly I agree). This sort of thing wouldn't do a lot for Matty's confidence.

Yeh good point. He could then bang in a few goals and get his confidence back. The only hassle at the moment that I see is that every time a decision goes against him he looks like he dropped $20 and picked up 5c

Thats awsome that they did that, still think he should be rested from the 1st team til he gets his mojo back.
I agree, 5 is too few considering some of the incredibly soft yellows I've seen given out this season.
As for Matty having a spell back in yoof, definately. If he can regain his confidence there, just like Nik did, brilliant.

I dont know what these guess where playing but it wasnt football the first half we looked terrible against a team running last. Did I miss something when people say Hutchison had a good game he was terrible , watch the goal they scored started from half way and Hutchison CONTRIBUTION crap. Before I gave it away and went to to watch something of interest it at least made me laugh to watch both teams scrabbling in defence like U18c grade players geating in others way and kicking the upfield aimlessly and someone tell me why Simon plays defence never seen a striker spend so much time deep in is own half . A special mention to our away supporters well done you have more money than sence but well done.

That will teach me to listen to the fox commentators pundits idiotshosts

Youth team could do Simon some good. Although who knows what he will do in training this week, may end up deserving a spot. I can see us still in the hunt for finals come the final round and that is going to be so frustrating either way. sigh.

Needs to be more like them tbh rather than fans that turn off half way through.

. quite a few things i would like to quote here, some good (dare i say positive) feedback but it'll get messy so i will just pick up on a few themes

. i didn't understand why clarkey didn't slide in lucas neill style ... pedj would have

. perhaps pedj needs to back off the 'roids a bit (joking ... i hope) and work on his touch/passing. you can almost guarantee it will be one of two things - too hard or too soft. the exciting thing is guessing which one ... and of course seeing him cream someone once he gives the ball away

. i think porter took bigger steps into the midfield last night. based on some of the keeping we have seen this year he should have had two - both off his left. the first, running off mrdja was brilliantly played because i think mrdja was a bit soft on the touch ... bloody unlucky on both counts

. surely matty has earnt a rest (suspension or not) ... my thinking has also been to bring him on towards the end with something to prove and lots of running still in his legs

. don't think that kwassie is the answer to partner nik. early in the season they didn't play too well together ... kwassie intimidated by nik and his ego i think? but i didn't notice too much of that last night at the end. as suggested playing kwas in the midfield may have some merit too

. i will stick with my call of travis tucked in just behind mrdja ... it could be magic ... but there are obviously issues - i think an intervention may be required

. can we get travis and lawrie (or whoever is the 'other' party/parties) in a room and lay down the law. if it works we can tolerate him carrying on like a bit of dick (we are saying similar things about the other nik now) at worst it may give him the opportunity to win another contract (here or elsewhere)

. if it doesn't work no harm done really. its better than having dylan come on and look like he is having a training run with the under 8s ... you know, jogging around mocking a little bit of pressure but not really getting involved in anything. plus put him in place of matty last night and heff scores a goal - unfortnately there are not many in our team with that sort of vision

. i think the two keepers showed why one of them may just go to SA. eugene made some great saves and danny had one diving to his left ... plus we wasn't going to let the 'free' hit him in the back of the head again (see he is learning)

. ok i'd like to raise another couple of points:

. it frustrates me how people come on and say how crap we were only to admit they didn't watch the whole game ... any game ebbs and flows ... each team dominates different parts. if you are expecting 27 rounds with 90+ minutes of brilliance in each game then, yeah, you will be disappointed. its a little bit like some of the comments i hear from people that watch the game from behind the goals - i have done this for away games and i have no idea how the hell you can tell what has really happened

. the other one is doig. through our record run most people were saying that we were missing him greatly (even though i think we played pretty well when he was out early in the season). so do you think he has made a huge difference? not saying he hasn't helped, but how significant has his contribution been ... he is certainly not immune from the odd slip up. just curious because there hasn't been much mention of him since his return (admittedly this can be a good thing for a defender)

We lost five on the trot without Doig.
We are undefeated since he returned.

Says it all really.

Back four of Boogs, Wilko, Doig and Heff is as good as any in HAL.

Regarding last nights game.

A battle of two desperate sides.

Again we sent out a poor looking and unbalanced side.  I thought we were marginally the better than Adelaide but both sides could have sneeked winners.

Back 4 apart from Clarky were good although sloppy at closing down Adelaide goal.

Danny was good.

Midfield.....vying with NQF for worst 4 in HAL.

Hutch was average again.  Boijic was the more effective centre mid.  Yes his passing is dodgy as is his first touch but he kicked the shit out of everything that moved and that evetually led us to over run the Reds mids.  His workrate was fantastic.
Porter had a good game but couldn't score in a brothel (at least they were on target this week).
Heff was reasonable.

Simon was poor again but Disco was excellent and my MOM and was unlucky not to score a couple.

3pts Disco
2pts Boogs
1pt  Porter or Bojic

Hard to give points because no one really shone but no one was disgusting.

We will never amount to anything putting out a side like that and hopefully LM will man up and put Travis back into the starting 11.

Pretty awful first half, how could Doig allow Owusu more headers in 45 minutes than he has had all season? Soft penalty but since FIFA brought out a world wide embargo on tackling it was the right decision. Truly woeful giving up of possession by Clark for their goal. Clarkie is a lovely hard working bloke who crunched into a couple of good tackles but isn't HAL standard never mind a LB. Second half defence much more solid and last 25 minutes we were all over them. Could have, should have won it. Thought Porter and Mrdja were our best and if you want a chink of light in the gloom then the cameo of McGlinchey back to his sharp penetrative best provides it.
However, if Perth, which is unlikely, get three points on the road from Melb (today) or Adelaide (tuesday) then it's all over bar the shouting. The gap will be too wide. Meanwhile Lawrie is saying all we have to do is win the last four games...you gotta like that Scots' sense of humour.
Oh, and talking of humour - Foxsports gave Pedj a point in the chase for the Tobin medal LOL

Had to chuckle at the blue between Heff and Simon. Simon head down doesn't see Heff and screws his shot wide; Heff gives him an earful. Simon knowing he is in the wrong argues back.
Later in the game, Mrdja heads for goal and Hutch makes the run, clear, on the left. Mrdja doesn't pass and scuffs the shot and gives it the trademark look to the heavens; Hutch just shrugs his shoulders, says nothing but thinks to himself "how stupid am I to make a run expecting Nik to pass!"

Pretty awesome atmosphere though. Fun to watch , good crew of people to hang with and all up a great mini-away trip.

Not sure why LM and others keep saying we "should have won". In my view we're getting exactly the results we deserve at the moment.
I thought last night we were unembarrassing against poor opposition, but I was a bit disappointed that our fouling fell off in the second half - we had three of them limping on the half hour. Liked the ref - he can come again.
Clarkie could've done more for their goal. Disco Nik's penalty exceeded my expectations - it was brilliant - but his free kicks were depressingly predictable. 15 pace run up and low drive into the wall? What's wrong with the top corners?
Congrats Danny for your 100th.

Did they really raise the limit? That seems odd. I thought suspensions occured at 5, 8 and 11 yellow cards

Good night out and well worth the trip even though I booked the wrong flight home and am stuck here til late sunday. Way too many negative comments on here still. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one but it seems to be the same people coming on here and whinging. Seriously harden the f**k up and support your team by whatever means you can. If we got this result at the start of the year, a draw would have been a great result, and still is, but because of our position people see the negative way too easily. I thought we battled hard and there was a lot of poitives, especially Mrdja's form of late. My opinion is that we got smashed down down the left a little too much and that Heff should stay in that left back role and we should have started a seasoned winger. But hey that's just my opinion.

I think we can win this one.

2-0 Mrjda double.

That was the call I made after the warm-up last week. Mrdja looked so relaxed and comfortable before the game - he just looked up for a big game. If the midfield had held up it may have happened.

I actually thought we played pretty well for 60 minutes. After that was it the heat, was it substitutions, whatever it was we lost our way in midfield.

If we can play the full game like we started last week we should get away with this one.

If you can beleive the twitters from  coach McKenna, he has acheived exactly what he set out to acheive. He only trains the team for an hour at a time, so why would they be able to play past that time line.
You only have to look at the vacant expression on Simon's face after another "brain explosion" to see that after running around in the sun for 40 minutes he has no oxygen left in his brain to even look up where he is running, let alone put any nouse into a pass or shot.
You only get out what you put in ...... at least they all appear to be having a great picnic on the away games.
