couldnt he just get a gig in japan or middle east if it was for money
greanted, the lifestyle is probably more appealing here to him but still...

Kareem, Recoba could live like a king in Uruguay, so lifestyle would not be an issue.

If he wanted the best life can offer, all he has to do is go home.

Money on the other hand, is another issue. And players like Recoba can get gigs all around the world in 'friendly' matches and the like, where appearance fees can be quite tasty.

He has to be genuine to play for Perth and put in the hard yards at training, be the proper marquee, and put in good consistent performances on match day. Other wise, it is a waste of money.

Having been stung by a fat and lazy Deanes a couple of years back, Perth will be keen to prove they can manage a marquee properly.

1.2mil is nothing in middle east leagues for international stars at his age. Or for instance uzbekistan. Also not much for plaves like china/korea. Yet alone japan.

Mmmm, choice between Tashkent and the following:

*The Ocean Beach Hotel on Sundays
*Fishing at Rottnest
*Trigg Beach between September & April
*Test Matches at the WACA
*Margarets
*Great concerts at Middle Swan (eg, Ben Harper)
*The pubs at Fremantle
*Playing once a week in a developing but average League

Just maybe, Perth is the choice here.

Wellington Phoenix have emerged as the frontrunners for Robbie Kruse's services.

Although his Queensland Roar contract is about to expire, Kruse and the Brisbane club are yet to agree to terms for next season.
It's understood the attacking weapon is keen to continue his career in Wellington, and will soon head across the Tasman for further talks.

Kruse, 20, took the A-League by storm in the 2007-08 season, but off-field problems led to a massive fall from grace last season.

The former Australian under-17 representative has worked overtime in the off-season to revive his career and continues to perform well on the training paddock.

if he hits top form, will be a very good signing for the phoenix

y is he not coming here?
I mean especially with any doubt of Simon leaving.
He is not out and out striker but he could play off DMAC...?
I think he is a bloody good buy, one that Phoenix certainly need
Just imagine his pace...

we need pace, and lots of it. we've got to have the slowest midfield in the league outside of perth's, and even they've got that kid on the right whose name escapes me.

PERTH Glory boss Dave Mitchell cannot wait to welcome Socceroo Jacob Burns into the fold as the club prepares to complete his capture.
Currently playing in Romania, Glory have confirmed that they have 'all but finalised' the deal.

Burns is set to sign a three-year deal and it's hoped he will join the club for pre-season training within three weeks.

"I've known Jacob for many years and he's a bit of a character," said Glory coach Dave Mitchel. "He is a good player and he is a great signing.

"And Burns, he is a winner, he is very competitive and on the fringes of the Socceroos, although I know Pim Verbeek is very fond of him.

"So he does not see it is a disadvantage coming back to the A-League. He thinks coming back here will enhance his chances."

News of the imminent signing came on the same day Glory confirmed au.fourfourtwo.com's exclusive details of their pre-season friendly tournament with games against English Premier League sides, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Newly promoted Wolverhampton will do a 10-day pre-season camp in Perth ahead of their return to England's top tier, the club scheduled to play the Glory on Friday July 10 at Members Equity Stadium.

Wolves will also play in a massive pre-season double header at Members Equity on Wednesday July 15 when they take on Fury in the North Queensland club's first ever hit-out.

The double header will start with Fury playing Wolves in what will be former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler's first major appearance in the new Hyundai A-League side.

Glory will then play a Fulham side featuring Socceroos' goal keeper Mark Schwarzer in one of three Australian matches for the Cottagers after games against Gold Coast United and Melbourne Victory.

The Glory will then finish the week by playing North Queensland on Saturday July 18 at a regional location expected to be either Mandurah or possibly Carnarvon in Western Australia's north.

"It's a big day for us at Glory," declared owner Tony Sage today. "To announce we're hosting two English Premier League teams on the same night outside of England."

"It's a huge coup for the Perth Glory (and) obviously it's a big day for football in this state."

Glory were rumoured to be playing Everton in the pre-season friendlies but Sage said negotiations fell down as the Toffees could not agree to a match until after the current Premiership season finished.

But as Glory coach Dave Mitchell previously played under Wolves' boss Mick McCarthy, the club was able to convince Wolverhampton that Perth would be an excellent base for a pre-season camp, Mitchell also getting Fulham over the line during a successful trip to Europe over the last month.

"Wolves, they're going to be here for 10 days," Mitchell said, saying the club will arrive in Australia on July 4. "I know Mick personally and I said, 'look it's a great place to come, you don't want to be flying all over the place, just base yourself here'.

"It's a wonderful city, we've got wonderful facilities that what we still can improve in the future, but it's great for the city and great for the tourism of Perth."

Mining magnate Sage has underwritten all the matches although he's hopeful the Western Australian government will lend some support as the fixtures will be a huge boost for WA tourism during winter.

"We've had 400 emails from Wolves fans in England that want to come out," Sage said.

very good signing for the glory and the a-league IMHO
