Sterjovski to Jest

Surely Mile has more sense than that? What's he paying his agent in, buttons? That's like boarding the Cornelia Marie as it's going down and Phil Harris is drunk at the helm.

Sounds like Con playing games in the media.

Jets Bid To Lure Home Sterj - 442

SOCCEROO Mile Sterjovski is being linked with a return home to Australia with Newcastle Jets in the hunt for the sidelined Derby star.
According to the Newcastle Herald, the Jets are in talks with the 29-year-old who has frustratingly made just five appearances for the Rams this season.

It is believed Newcastle are willing to offer Sterjovski the $350,000 a season which was intended for marquee Joel Griffiths, who appears to be heading to China.

Sterjovski still has 18 months remaining on his Derby contract so the Jets are likely to seek a loan deal with the Rams.

Newcastle owner Con Constantine told the Herald: "I spent half of Australia Day on the phone. There is something big in the wind.

"I want to make sure we get the signature before I say any more. We should know in the next 24 hours."

The Herald believes that player is Wollongong-born Sterjovski who could return to his homeland after eight years in Europe with stints in France, Switzerland, Turkey and England.

The deal hinges on Sterjovski's plight with Derby County. The Australian international has indicated he'd prefer to stay in Europe to enhance his hopes of being involved with the Socceroos for the 2010 World Cup.

But Sterjovski would know he needs to be playing much more often than he has been with Derby, if he is to get a chance of winning a place in Pim Verbeek's Socceroos squad.

Griffiths blast Jets over "Lies'

GOLD Coast United-bound defender Adam Griffiths has angrily hit out at what he calls the "lies" coming out of Newcastle linking him with a move to Korean club FC Seoul.

With Griffiths's Newcastle contract not expiring until June 30, Jets owner Con Constantine insists he could sell the player before he leaves for the Coast.

But Griffiths dismissed the "stupid comments" regarding his future.

"For Newcastle, I don't know what type of lies they've been telling everyone . . . it's all a load of crap. I'm sick and tired of it," said the 29-year-old hard man, who was dragged at halftime in

the Jets' 4-0 weekend loss to Sydney.

"It's really difficult to concentrate on playing football when you've got people making stupid comments constantly. It's doing my head in. It's a bit of a circus.

"It's 100 per cent certain that I'm going to the Gold Coast and I'm looking forward to it."

No Jets Deal For Sterjovski

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/95019,no-jets-deal-for-sterjovski.aspx

EXCLUSIVE: Mile Sterjovski's representatives have rubbished talk the player is about to sign for A-League club Newcastle Jets saying the Socceroo's first preference is to stay at Derby County.
It's been reported that the 29-year-old Socceroo is about to sign with the Hunter franchise, but Sterjovski's advisor Tony Rallis tells au.fourfourtwo.com that it's simply not true.

"Mile's first preference is to stay at Derby, where the new coach [Nigel Clough] has seen him," he said. "There is also interest from elsewhere in Europe."

Last night, Sterjovski was a 74th minute substitute in Derby's 1-0 loss to Birmingham City.

According to the Newcastle Herald, the Jets are in talks with the player who has spent most of the season on the fringes for the Rams.

It was reported that Newcastle are willing to offer Sterjovski the $350,000 a season which was intended for marquee Joel Griffiths, who appears to be heading to China.

Rallis said he'd had an informal chat with Jets chairman Con Constantine on Australia Day.

"We speak from time to time on a variety of issues, but to say there is a deal pending for Mile, well, it's nowhere near that," he said. "Far from it.

"And I can assure you, he wouldn't be coming home for $350,000."

with any story about newastle now, nothing should be taken as worth more than second hand toilet roll unless it comes with a direct quote from a player or his agent.

con should hereforth be known as showbag, because he's bursting at the seams but completely full of shit.

The Jets have signed Dutch striker Donny de Groot from De Graafschap in the Dutch Eredivisie. He used to play in the Cypriot leauge and was once a team mate of Jesper Hakansson.

Also there are rumours that Stuart Musialik wants an early release from his contract at Sydney to return to Newcastle. Although with Kosmina leaving yesterday, that stance could change.

charisteas to adelaide as marquee (rumour)

im calling 100% bollocks

ditto, he costs too much for 1.FCN so he'd be far too pricey for adelaide, marquee or not.

How much $$$ did they win from the ACL and Club championship? Did I hear something around $5 million - I'm not sure? If its true, perhaps they could be in the market.

they get the largest portion of that, but quite an amount is socialised among the eight (or ten, probably) clubs.
