Newcastle Jets take off

NEWCASTLE Jets have confirmed a triple raid on their ranks by Chinese side Beijing Guoan, with Joel Griffiths, his brother Adam and a third player believed to be Mark Milligan all set to quit the A-League

Jets owner Con Constantine confirmed Joel Griffiths would be loaned to Beijing Guoan for 11 months, with the caveat that he will not be allowed to play against last year's A-League champions in the Asian Champions League.

Under the deal, believed to be worth $700,000 for Griffiths and $500,000 to Constantine, last year's Johnny Warren medallist will link with younger brother Ryan.

The third Griffiths brother, Adam, is set to be sold to Guoan, while Milligan will join the siblings once those negotiations are finalised.

OK I'm not up on the A. Griffiths situation but what happened to GC? Now he's being sold to Guo'an? I thought he was set to be loaned briefly to another Asian club (ie. not Guo'an) then returning to play for GC.

Edit: There's definitely something wrong with that report - I have read elsewhere Milligan was being targeted by Shenhua, not Guo'an.

The few times O'Grady has started he has had absolute blinders. Do not know why he hasn't started more.

Plus Stringers tends to be either man of the match or error-riddled. That might fly for Sasho, but it's not what you want from a centre back.

I dont remember hearing A grif having a north style agreement with gc. In which case con is just hoping to sell him, but really wont get a cent for it. Miron seemed to be of that opinion

Good combo with Petrovski.

If you dont believe me: http://www.theherald.com.au/news/local/sport/soccer/winwin-situation-constantine-puts-positive-spin-on-joel-griffiths-loan-deal-to-beijing-guoan/1415885.aspx?storypage=2

The Jets have been in talks with Socceroos and Derby County attacker Mile Sterjovski as well as a number of other overseas players.

give it 48 hours.

Again, with Newcastle, until its signed and on paper, its not a done deal. And even then not so it would seem.
