ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Who should be the coach

I'd prefer Mulvey but which one is prepared to make sure Hutch is ready in a couple years time.

Would Mulvey be happy with the staff being set, the squad being set and the money probably on offer just to get back in A League?

We could do worse than Ricki, he did get the Nix into the Finals 3 years in a row.

Would put the Kiwi above Mulvey, because of his brighter demeanour/candour - exhibits more positivity than Mulvey's sourness.

I tend to agree with this - Ricki has done a good job with lesser squads before. Mulvey took over the champions and still whinged more than Arnie.

It is funny that the only job available, is with us, after he has spent the last 12 months pissing on us. Fair enough we have been a joke, but his attack on Monty was pathetic jibberish.
I can imagine his CV went straight into the bin.

Hutch may never be ready. Ricky's pitch was a good one but Mulvey's win percentage is much better.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
yeah after going back and seeing what rudan and his halfwit brother in law thinks of us ..f**k him ....toss up between Mulvey and Herbs I reckon

What DID Hutch do to you man? He's hardly been in a coaching-type role for long enough to make any sort of valid judgment call on how he'll go... Did he run from the bill once or something?

Mulvey's percentage win rate was better because he had better cattle IMHO. The litmus test of a coach is getting a team to perform better than the sum of their parts. My suspicion is that RH is the better coach. I'm hoping he will be our man

He is decent bloke and was a decent player but he is not the messiah so we don't owe him anything.
I wouldn't pick our next coach so he can mentor him for the distant future. The game is littered with far better players than Hutcho who never made it as a Coach.
We need a coach to get us sorted ON the field now. Hutcho, if he has the skills, will rise to the top in his own time.

Having this kind of setup is fraught with danger. As Wombat said, Hutch may never be ready. A good player doesn't necessarily (in fact, usually doesn't) make a good coach.
Collingwood had a coach in Mick Malthouse who in 10 years got them into 4 Grand Finals, winning one. Two years before he finished up, the club got him to agree to a deal where he would hand over to Nathan Buckley (for those who don't follow AFL, Buckley was a Brownlow medal winner and a champion player for many years) so that Buckley wouldn't go somewhere to coach. Malthouse's last two seasons produced two Grand Finals & a premiership. Buckley then took over as coach and the team has been going backwards ever since, missing finals the last three seasons.
Just because Hutch has been a good and faithful club servant doesn't mean he should be made coach before he has proven himself to be capable at HAL level.

I have a problem with Mulvey. Wasn't the reason he got sacked from Roar because he lost the dressing room? We don't want that kind of problem here. I would much prefer Herbert.

Hutch has to get the job and be sacked at sometime, can't just take a cushy assistant job when not selected by the coach.

Wether it's good or not it's the plan unless that has changed.

What about Robert Stanton of Syd FC youth/npl2?

Might attract some of the Syd youth not getting into Arnies side. He had the youth team humming last season when they won the Youth season at Gosford.

Might be good with our young guys.

No big time experience so a long shot but if we going cheap would be an option.

If we`re going cheap then I`d go with PriorPeter...he`s won more titles...
