What Bay should we move to if we do

My problem with the concept of bay 23/24/22 area is that the away fans will have to walk behind the bays as they come into and as they leave the stadium and could lead to problems with overzealous minorities of the various groups. I just don't see how from a security point of view this will be managed well if at all.

Would be easy enough to open the exits behind bay 32. Doesn't that happen anyway?

being across from 'the squadron + kazes' and 'the cove' on derby days is way to mouth-watering to give up.
bay 1 ftw
TBH, I don't really care if FOX see us or not.

+1
why does anyone care about that?

ppl wanna be famous nd shit

ah, of course.
as bay 16 always looks stunning on tv.

There are some who might find it attractive to have the opportunity to get on TV as part of the supporters group. Whats wrong with that? It can only be a good thing can't it if it attracts additional vocal supporters.

There are so many more pros than cons about bay 23 that everybody is overlooking here

bar behind the bay, if they go thru with it = awesome
be in the ground 2 minutes after leaving the club if you want to = awesome
roof = awesome
if its reserved seating, and if there are cheaper tickets for students, which we are working with the mariners to have available = awesome
can actually drink in it, as its not bay 2 and alcohol free = awesome
close to food and toilets = awesome

Also it's near the corner and end, so if die-hards prefer the end to the side they can extend the group in that direction towards bay 19 (..murphs?).
Closer to the spiritual home of bay 16.

Agree about sun / view (only from a lighting perspective) favouring bay 2.
And the banter factor.

That's what i thought. I think it was intended as an emergency exit but is used as a separate entry/exit specially for sokkah hooligans

Perhaps the club would prefer us to not be near 75% of family members for obvious reasons?  Hence why 23 might be a preferred option?

This has been considered as an option for entry and exit for away fans

I would say Bay 23.

Why?

We are trying to grow the marinators and by putting us in a half bay tuck away in the corner away from where now one can see you. why would we want to expand there.

I cant see stadium management moving the Alcohol Free Bay. Bay 2 is the alcohol free bay for just about every event.

Also i think the mariners need to bring in concession ticket prices into the bay. There are a number of students who are active in the bay and the mariners need to know that if they want to the marinators to be a good image of the club they need to open up that avenue. A number of clubs (newcastle & sydney) have brought concession prices into their support bays this year.

Anyways who cares about the sun! we travel to newcastle and stand all afternoon looking into the sun and we still sing and chant for the mariners, so why would it been any different at home. The majority of the mariners games is in the evening so this problem would only occur every now and then.

So i Bay 23 is the go to grow and set a good image with other mariners fans & members.

I will still support the move whatever way the Marinators Club decides to go.

The same kind of 'growth' we have been trying to achieve for just on four years now....?

I think over the years we have lost a lot of numbers to the gold seats. The view may also PARTIALLY explain SOME of the difficulties with attracting newcomers to bay 16.

Could be interesting to see if this improves slightly if the bay is able to offer atmosphere AND a view of the match.

Why be negative, do you not want to TRY and make the support grow?

Good point.

Would moving to bay 1 see an increase in the number of people coming on here posting "I was disgusted at the language coming from the Marinators" or "That chant is sexist and sets a bad example for kids" etc etc.

bay 38 ;)

If they are serious about what looks good on tv they would put the cameras on the eastern side as the fans tend to be based on the western side when our crowds are low, but that's not the point.

My problem with the concept of bay 23/24/22 area is that the away fans will have to walk behind the bays as they come into and as they leave the stadium and could lead to problems with overzealous minorities of the various groups. Move the away fans to a different bay?????maybe???
Why should we have to accomidate for them we should choose where to be and then the club should put away fans in a suitable area

Unfortunately my idea and their idea of suitable areas are different, mine would be a pontoon on brisbane waters ;)

The point still stands, if they are in bay 1 even they will do the march to the ground and walk in the exit closest to the club and be heading right past where we are looking to sit. the ground doesn't have enough separate gates to segregate opposition fans.

i c your point maybe just get the riot squad there every game.... or even put the away fans in bay 1/2 Or as i said b4 if they were to be put in bay 11/12 it means we could still point at each other and wat not but they wont need to have to walk past us...... this is of course if we go into bay 23...
also the club could attempt to force fans with away supporter ticket holder to enter from gate 2 under the bridge?

Away fans won't be going to bays 1/2 near 75% of members lol

wat about 11/12 where they were back a few season ago.

can't see away fans being moved anywhere, shoving them in the corner makes much more sense for many reasons

Imo bays 1-2 for you guys.

The majority of other members are on that side  so when Sydney and the scum come most of them will have to be on the other side.Segregation of fans generally(not just the supporters groups) and facing each other across the pitch can only add to the atmosphere.

And Bear that afternoon sun on that side is a f**kin killer believe me!The heat's one thing but the worst part is you are looking straight into it.If you guys go there I gaurantee there will be a thread whinging about it after the first afternoon game. We're moving to the western side next season for that very reason.

One thing I don't get is some peoples desire to be on the telly???

Being heard is what matters surely?

Dont forget the second game of the season is against Newcastle so we better get out shit sorted, im for bay 1-2, it would be good rivalry for away derby games and banter with ourselves in that dungeon corner, nice and cool in the heat, close to the bar if you want to get trashed if your into that kind of thing, near the pisser, and really is it that much of a walk come on whats it gunna cost one more beer in the kendal bar oh wow! cant get more trashed and forget words and slur and get tired, i thought we were about creating atmosphere for the team to win games and titles, not to be seen on telly so we look cool, its up to the club to get more people through the gates i feel we are responsible for being that extra player that intimidates the opposition and gets our lads over the line.

I believe Bay 1-2 would be ideal.

I enjoyed being there for the Tianjin game. I have actually sat in 23 with the Witches of Eastw..er, sorry, some members of my family, and it's OK, nothing more.

I acknowledge how much closer 23 is to the CCLC, but I like that spot at Bay 1-2. The sun is a minor annoyance at 23, but the air does at least flow there, unlike where we sit at the Newcastle International Sports Centre, which is a breathless sauna at best.

Look, I'll support whatever the Marinators, Mariners & Stadium Management come up with, to be fair. I'd be happy sitting in a fold-up chair (Industrial strength!!) underneath the Palm Trees to watch the lads.

Now, there's an idea; what about we do a Port-of-Spain a la the 2007 Cricket World Cup and have an above-ground pool setup near the Palm Trees, about 10 metres from the field. Wet Bar, drop-dead glamours, beer on tap, Chickie Babes, football, sounds perfect.
