Not the most pretty game, but we won 3-0, and that's what counts.

What a match!!!!!!!! Easily our greatest win ever. Petrovski hasn't scored in seven matches and has pulled out a fantastic strike.
Kwasnik played the best match of his life (even thoygh he gave the ball up alot in 2nd ET)
Wilko and Viddy what a pairing.
Tommy when he was on was a real livewire
Vuko saves were immense.
but the MoM has to to be MILE JEDINAK. This man is freak of nature. He just kept running and running and running chasing down everything. My new Hero.
Are you kidding me? Besides one good cross, and his deflection goal which he shouldn't really be credited with much (thanks Elrich!), he sucked bigtime. Constantly coughed up the ball, even when he beat a player, giving possession back.

Great shooting from Petro. Aloisi was having another off night, but I prefer now than in two weeks. He looked tired.
Defence was mostly ok, although sometimes the clearences was apalling. Credit to Boogs, Vidmar and Ceccolli.
Hutch was off tonight, Jedi was great, Tommy P was ok for when he was on, Gumprecht was FANTASTIC - one of the very few players who made the better plays. Compared to Kwasnik... well, there is no comparison really. He was immense.
Hurrah for Vuko as well - made some great saves.

Not the best performance - we have certainly played better than this, but we played good enough, while Newcastle played bad.

WE'RE IN THE GRAND FINAL!!!!!!! :vhappy: :vhappy: :piralaugh: :piralaugh: :pirashoot: :pirashoot:

Bob and Bill you would have to be the most miserable shit of a supporter that I have ever come across.
Kwassy scores the opening goal in a great match to put us on the front foot but all you can do is knock.
FFS he makes mistakes, but he shows flashes of brilliance you do not see in this league from other players.
Again FFS, Aloisi made heaps of mistakes tonight but he was one of our best.

Everyone tonight was brilliant.

Do not bring us down tonight you miserable troll.

I have just seen a replay of the goal. The commentators called it a deflection. I am pretty sure it was a chip like the one in Canberra. But I guess you were not at that game either.

Well said ursus, Kwas could score a hatrick and still have people saying he was rubbish.

People must have forgot his 5 goals in the HAL this year and 1 in the finals series.

How many players came to the club afterwards? 1......Who? Kwas, the only player giving up 10 minutes of their time to thank the fans for their support!

Anyway, can somebody please remind me how many days it is since we last won a derby ;)

Yeah, great work for Kwas to come in the CCLC and say G'day and now he's the only player with a Marinators 'Premiers' t-shirt! ;)

Ha ha! Bet he wears it to training!

BTW, he was absolutely exhausted by the looks of him, and I thank him for taking the time to pop in when he was obviously stiff as in the legs. The guy who got one of his boots will probably have it mounted for posterity, he was that chuffed with it!

Just about calmed down now but voice is nowhere near to returning.

One of those special nights that you need to remember, cherish and cling to when times are not quite so good.

I think that is the best we have played for 90 mins since 2-0 v Adelaide at BT.

The thing that impressed me so much was our hunger, no scum was going to get a 50/50. In fact their midfield seemed to specialise in turning them into 70/30's.

Tactics from GVE were all wrong. They always have a goal in them so why get them to defend so deep?? Answer = Spencer.

Song was horribly out of his depth and once Holland got chopped (forget who got him), he hid until being subbed.

Be interesting to see if they can turn it around in a week against a rampant Qld who get to welcome back Tiatto.

That place is always broken - I went on there last night and stirred up some shit, but it would die every 5 minutes or so.

Must not be able to afford rent on their servers.  ;)

To all the doubters..... Pfft!

To the mariners players and staff....  Long live the lot of you!! I had tears comin out my eyes with that 3rd goal!!
You have given us our best moment in three seasons, if we had pride before what is it now?

To the Jets.... Pfft! GVE showed that he is not in the race with lawrie.

To any jets troll who cares to read this.... Your hero is a diving sackwhacker princess, who refused to step up when he was needed most of all! Wallow in it PondScum!!

And to some idiot who said something about "alomissi" you are a fool to even put the words Griffths and Aloisi in the same poorly structured sentence.
John Aloisi = Legend of Australian Sport!
Joel Griffiths = Sackwhacker/ diving princess with no spine.

Well done Mariners, so, so proud!

My Individual Match Ratings:

DANNY VUKOVIC:
Amazing, saved us many times. Was solid and showed great maturaty.
Will be a socceroo with out a doubt one day, come along way from
when Crawley first got injured. The Yellow card was ridiculous,
it wasnt his fault was without a doubt a dive.
Match Rating: 9.5/10

ALVIN CECCOLI:
Not to much to say really, was good when he was on. Unfortunate bout
the toe, but should return bigger and better and will strenghten us in the
Grand final.
Match Rating: 4/10

ALEX WILKINSON:
Very close to man of the match IMO, lead by example and was very solid.
Worked hard to short sprints and did well to keep up with and beat C*nt
face Griffiths, worked well with everyone in the back line and kept the team
motivated.
Match Rating: 7.5/10

TONY VIDMAR:
Last night showed he can still match it with some of the best in the a-league,
and showed why he was our marquee, even at his age showed great speed,
what bout his runs up feild thought he looked a bit lost lol, worked well with
Boogs and Wilko, his composure was felt through the whole team.
Match Rating: 8/10

NIGEL BOOGARD:
Definatly shown everyone he was the best defender for his age, handled
starting out of position and swapping after 25mins very well. Showed good
speed and skill against Jets strikers, same as Vidmar had great composure
which is very good for his age. Socceroo in the making.
Match Rating: 8/10

ADAM KWASNIK:
Most amazing goal ive ever seen! Couldnt believe it, everyone was jumping
around i just stood there in awe bout to take my pants off. Worked well with
the backs, done some shocking things but after all scored an amazing goal,
i think possibly goal of the season, well done kwas.
Match Rating: 8.5/10

MILE JEDINAK:
An amazing player for his age, and showed great maturity in the middle and
lead our team around the park, got forward to attack but got back in time to
defend, amaing defence and done well in the back line when Boogs came off late.
Match Rating: 9/10

JOHN HUTCHINSON:
Yellow card was ridiculous, f*cking squadron! Had a pretty quiet game IMO.
Done well with Jedi as they do, IMO the combination that has got us through
this season and into the Grand Final, wish he hit Elrich though, bit disapointed.
Match Rating: 6.5/10

TOM PONDELJAK:
Done well when on the feild, but honestly i dont think we would have done it if he
was on Gumps was good. Hopefully isnt to bad, need him back for grand final
our midfeild will win us the match and i think he needs to be in it for that to happen.
Match Rating: 4.5/10

SASHO PETROVSKI:
AMAZING! Thought age was catching up with him, reading all the news articles, bout
how he will strive in the finals a actually thought Matty would have been a better
option to start, but done amazingly well, got lazy at the end.. but who didnt! everyone
was dead on their feet and i was proud of sasho for the game he played, very aggersive
in defence and got back to help out.
Match Rating: 9.5/10

JOHN ALOISI:
Bit dissapointed with his game, did well to stay on for the whole time with his knee.
But alot of missed chances, especially the one at the end. His precence on the feild
intimidates the oppostion and lifts our team, if he's on the feild Grand Final time,
Him and Sasho will go off.
Match Rating:7/10

ANDRE GUMPRECHT:
Couldnt believe andre he was amazing lifted the team once he was on.
Thought he would have got a goal, sad to see him go next year.
Which ever team picks him up will be lucky to have such a great player.
Hope he doesnt retire, this league is still his standard. Done well putting
it on to the strikers and backing up, and actually won a header with his height.
Match Rating: 8.5/10

ANDREW CLARK:
Saved our ass's heaps, is an amazing defender and worked well with the backline,
did well to keep the boys running for the 120mins, i hope he is on the coast for
years to come fitness coach or player, he is an amazing bloke and held our team
together in some scary times.
Match Rating: 9.5/10

GREG OWENS
Not much work for grego tonight, fresh legs helped late in the game. Appropriate
time to come back from an injury, cant wait to see grego fire in the grand final.
Match Rating: 5/10

MATTY SIMON
One of my favourite player, but i was very happy he didnt come on at any stage,
Sasho was firing and JA was backing him up, our midfeild was our rock so no
place for him there and he's not a defender, i had a bad feeling that if he came on
something bad would have happened.

MATTHEW TROTT
Do what danny did and you will be an amazing goalie.
