ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I've been reaching the end of my patience (see my last in the "moss out" thread) but if it's true, we've got to get off his back.

The selections aren't up to it. He's got players there who can't execute basic plans! Hard to sack a coach for players who can't pass straight.

The question is who is making the calls!

First time I've listened to SST. Don't know how reliable those guys are but if half of what they say is true we are screwed as long as MC hangs about.
Pity there is no line of potential owners waiting in the wings.

Where's Bilo when you need him?

There are lots of teams round the world in that are in our situation and we have been in it before. What you need is a coach that improves those players, teaches them to pass straight and also inspires them to cover there deficiencies with effort. The coach also needs to be able to find the youngsters or journey men that can pass a straight ball and pick them up at a good price.

Now whether Moss was told the position of the club or has been screwed over is a different question but one thing is for sure with where we are as a club Moss is not the man for the job so has to go.

We hand him sow's ears and sack him for not making silk purses.

Makes sense.

As I said don't know if he has been screwed over by the club or not in terms of what he was promised. He is clearly not the man for the job in the predicament we are in. Is your plan just to stick with Moss until things change at the club such as a injection of cash he can buy players who can pass straight or the club folds? Was Laurie in any different predicament with the resources he had to work with?

So how are the selections being made?
Coach not having a say would be the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Regardless, that's only one part of the puzzle...

I wonder if there is any truth to Moss not having a say in player signings and team selections?
Surely any coach would walk in those circumstances??

In fairness... It's probably hard to go when you're just building your career. Arnie could've left and probably found another coaching job elsewhere... Mossy is probably still new enough that he'd run the risk of leaving only to find himself being looked at as Assistant again.
Might be better for him, careerwise, to hang on for the ride either way.

I would think it's more that Mossy isn't allowed to choose who he wants without approval from MC and that the money he has to play with is minimal. We don't know how many players he has tried to sign that has been knocked back by MC. That would discount most players with the quality and experience that we need. I'm sure Mossy gets to choose the tactics and player selections though and that is down to him.

If Moss doesn't get 100% control of player selections that might explain why Cernak has not been getting more of a run. He's been pretty good when called upon.

Yes I feel for Tricky and Cernak. There is a definite change in selections being made by someone other than Moss. We were actually starting to play well before all these selection issues came up. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Rose and Kalik are getting a run I just think it happening too fast and is a clear strategy by MC to sell off players.

Bit early to say but Kalik has not looked ready yet in his two games.
Lots of potential though. Maybe he will settle with more minutes.

In yesterdays Fox Football podcast the briefly mensions that there may be new role at the club for Lawrie Mackinna. Not sure what this could be. Most likely on the fan engagement side. Doubt he will get involved if there is still its of NS talk though.

Mick was hinting that something was set to be announced that would put Moss's nose out of joint.

So, I'd like to think that the selection issues are with MC rather than Mossie because

a) I can't help but like the guy

b) What noone seems to consider, is how it reflects on Arnie. Arnie hired Mossy and has supported and nurtured him as the next coach. Much as there's loyalty etc, I would've liked to think that he could've positioned himself over the last couple of years, so that he hadn't had to groom him and hand over to him, if he didn't think Moss had it in him

c) Again - last season, we looked a lot better post-Arnie than pre-Moss, so-to-speak. One thing that I was wondering about was, if the selection thing really IS a MC discussion, would Mossy have had freeer reign last year, because the core squad had essentially already been setup by Arnie and MC was trying to sort out what he was doing - even more so than now?

Mind you, that doesn't mean that I think that IS the reason, obviously ;)
