ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Turbulence (then calm sailing, then turbulence) thread.

TBH we should be able to walk and chew gum. Case in point was last year. While many of the squad did little Kwas and Flores did a heap of community work because they were injured. Gorman's and Lawrie's vision was a slow burn to ensure that people grew up with the Mariners for a long term club viability - it was always a 15 year plan. Arnie came in expecting and wanting instant football success. These goals should not have been and should not be in future mutually exclusive objectives.

Leaving aside the Mayors party political broadcast on behalf of the 'anti Mariner 2010-2015 party' I take on board exactly what you say. Kwas and especially Flores were excellent ambassadors of the club in the community and more should be done today by the current squad. I just don't know if those over in Perth or Adelaide are having this conversation because they are successful right now and the focus is on the pitch. In the ideal world the players would be out every day shaking hands but I'm not sure that's possible in the modern game. Just my opinion.

Did you listen to the whole interview?
The engagement time Lawrie had the guys put in was next to nothing.
Easily done, then and now.

Some good news.

It's great news.

A couple of points though:
  1. The club seems optimistic that they can bring on a second front of shirt sponsor - AFAIK the only club who have done this so far are MV
  2. I guess this means that Westinghouse Solar aren't renewing their sponsorship?

Sydney fc did it a few years ago

Interesting plan - this means that we can expect two things - first that the away kit will see a constant use next year (similar to MV in last two years and Sydney back when they did the Sony/JVC split, so design will need to be chosen carefully) and that the second shirt sponsor (whoever they are) will be a brand that is possibly less of a parochial link to the Central Coast and maybe more a national brand.

I removed your 'Meh' so you can re-rate it. You can also click 'remove rating'.
Cheers mate.
Yeah my phone running opera mini to make use of dodgy reception doesn't even show up the icons so I have to guess which is which and where they are or, more regularly, just not rate posts. Just for the time being that is.

Pretty sure Masterfoods are available nationally - not sure how you get more national than that ?

It's great news.

Fantastic news for a sponsor to be with a club for now 11 years must be some kind of record, been around longer than most owners, staff in any of the major sporting codes in Australia.
If their involvement can help the club stay firmly based here on the coast - it's amazingly awesome news !

I had a listen to this this arvo. Harps totally gives management a serve. Moss is in the background and hears the whole thing. Hopefully he gets management to listen to the whole thing. Lots of angry Mariners fans on there.

I did the same and it really upset me as I had to agree with Andy Harper :-(. He echoed what a lot have said on here about a missed opportunity to re engage fans.

Didn't realise that members turned up not knowing about the fee and didn't even get the chance to pay $10 on the day, absolute PR debarcle.

Will be interesting to see if Bruce will go on the show next week as they seemed keen to speak with him although Harper already prempted the reply.

At the risk of getting flamed again...

I know the club's communication strategy hasn't been the greatest. However, after listening to the show I have to wonder how it was possible for those people not to know about the fee.

I know that I received at least two emails advising of the fee (on 12 January and 3 February), and that the club had posted about it on Facebook and Twitter around the same times.

I don't know what the club is like with contacting people who don't have email as their preferred method (perhaps there's someone on here who knows), but I would think that between email and social media the message would have reached the vast majority of members.

So much media bashing our club management this week. I hope the club is listening.

One quote Harper said hit home quite well was "why are the Mariners forming a partnership with Everton when they can't even partner with CCF?"
