ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Turbulence (then calm sailing, then turbulence) thread.

Just on the attendance drop off statement, it would be interesting to see the comparison of the figures when we play consecutive home/away/ home games as opposed to when we have a two or three week break between games.
After the break, away from CCS due to away games & the NSO game I`m sure interest wained a bit, but when the Stand Up For The Mariner`s campaign started things seemed to pick up again.
This indicates to me the success of the promotional campaign.

Need to say before posting this no drugs or drink was involved pre posting... another note hopes there is no ban for "stew pudd" ideas ...

Was reading a couple of other forums over the break and saw our sauce bottles were often mentioned...

As a tourist thing and to just get the good folk of the Coast having a Mariners issues to talk about ... The big Banana, the Big Sheep , the big Prawn...

What about the Big Sauce Bottles good old fashion Aussie sauce bottles .... sorta down the southern end were you can actually walk into them [well maybe] from the street... Cost next to nothing and I am sure get coverage...

OK goes back to spreadsheets and Tax Returns...

Not sure how much is in this but a number of recent articles are saying our current 4 year [40 million ] media deal will be called up after three years...

The talk is a new 80 million dollar media deal with the FTA part being moved from SBS to either Channel 10 or Channel 7, both would broadcast either Channel 1 or 7mate i.e. their sports channels for lessor sports...

Huge rumour FFA are annoyed with the SBS broadcast... and failing in the rating game...

To many articles for there not to be something in it... needs two additional teams and existing teams... meaning I guess all current sides are safe with two new sides needed...

What is important for us in this is FFA going into major media negotiations needs all teams doing their best and tis not in their interest for us to fall over or MC to try and re draw a map ....

Latest article of a number recently

Yeah, and if we double the TV money then it's in *everyone's* interests that we double down on existing clubs and provide certainty for new clubs.

Awesome!!! We have a something to be positive about.

Seems strange to cancel it. They haven't cared about playing surface in the past. Maybe Storie thought it was a bad move to have it go ahead.

They haven't had opposition teams complain as loudly as Muscrat in the past either though... Might have gotten embarrassing if we'd ended up with two trials and two opposition clubs complaining about the gounds - ignoring that our own coach only barely avoided complaining in his own statements ;)

I'm thinking that it's probably done the trick, in combination with some of the work around #standupforthemariners :)

I am delighted; it is terrific news. Although David Gallop was happy to endorse the club widening its foot print clearly he is listening to what is going on, The words of Kevin Muscat must have been an important factor.
I wonder if the club is now going to lay on coaches for the thousands of Northern Beaches fans who will be heartbroken at the news?

I did the clubs survey last night and was impressed by what they asked...

The Brookie game moved back,

Lets see what happens in the review ....

Just now a little glimmer of light started to emerge ... MC did save the club when it needed saving ... he is a Football person ... just maybe the review will say stay in Gosford but be smart about developing the Southern Coast [Northern Sydney} areas... Me thinks tis either or the new man is either to move us to NS OR work out the best way forward lets hope it is the latter and I assume it is... if so we need to give MC all the support we can and hold off our fire until we know the outcome but in the mean time contribute to the outcome..

I feel like we need another #standupforthemariners-type engagement for the 'Brookvale' game now.
For a normal game, the club earns no extra money on the ticketed members - beyond food sales obviously... That money has already been made.
So technically, if every ticketed member stayed home, the cost to the club would be relatively little, I suspect this may be part of the reason why it feels like they're not paying as much attention to us.
Not that they've had to back down on the Brookvale game, it seems to me that we have a chance to drive home our point, by showing up for the game. Show them the difference in ticket sales, between Brookvale and home. Demonstrate what they could do with proper engagement, as opposed to trying to move games away.
Pie-in-the-sky, but imagine if this particular game could sell 15000 tickets... As opposed to the, say 5000, that they might have sold at Brookvale... Consider the message that would send to the club...
Obviously this assume that MC is listening and looking at the ticket sales, but I think that the last at least, is a reasonable assumption ;)
I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to the game, but I'm thinking that I might buy a ticket anyway, just for the principle of it :) :santa:

Just listened to the interview with LM... says what we all have known for a while ... after he left no one else has seen the value in connecting with the local community and park teams...

This is about the time that Gorman left as well ... both Gorman and LM had a belief our future was in connecting with the park teams and schools... So the lead as it were came from the top... Post the Gorman / LM period we have ignored what they achieved and from what I see believed what they did had little affect or not much more could be achieved...

I remember GA once saying he was here to coach a Football team not run ???? I forget the rest but it was clear he did not share the same belief as LM...

Tis an excellent interview and for me the most telling part was this... after the stand up for the Mariners and the 10K + LM dragged through the gate... MC sent him an email thanking him for doing what he did and getting the crowd up ... no one else at the club thanks him or even said well done...

Gorman set up WSW and its history how well they have gone .... just maybe our managers post Gorman and I include Turnball [when he was the club manager] have been very poor ... Not that I am a huge business arguably a very small business but four times now have approached the club to be a sponsor in some way of providing services ... each time massive thank you and we will get back and no one ever has ...

As I have posted before if IMO management try to have half the games in Northern Sydney and half on the Coast it will fail very very badly very quickly ...

please please spare me, who was complaining about community activity when Arnie transformed the team into a championship winning club through astute management and brilliant team tactics. Shall we go back to hoofing it long, in fact bring back the mayor as club tactitian. Frankly last person I'd want is Hutch visiting me in hospital if I was on my death, he should be focussed on winning at the weekend not shaking my bleedin hand with a false smile. Maybe the Mayor should start focusing on fixed up Gosfords shambolic town centre and doing his job properly before focusing on the so called glory days and criticising everyone who came after him.

Since you asked, that would be me and plenty of others;

I agree with you that there were no "glory days" but I've only heard those words once and I think it was in the interview with the CEO where he was bagging the "so-called glory days".

I don't recall anyone else referring to the Lawrie era as "glory days" (please point me in the right direction if I missed something), and for as long as I can remember, the club has always had a ton of room for improvement and we've been making noise about it on the forum for a long time.

TBF the club has picked up a lot on social media, but there are still lapses, e.g. we still get some news via social media/forums before it comes from the club, and (there is) a lot more that could be done.
