ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Turbulence (then calm sailing, then turbulence) thread.

It's true, it's of interest to people who are interested in the state of the club and the league and these details hadn't yet been reported.

The problem is that it's true, not that someone's writing about it.

The amounts are very small in the grand scheme of things - a small fraction of the annual budget - they're not enough to justify anything drastic, it's more a "can you please get your shit together" kind of thing.

No, again. The problem is not that it is true. The problem is that people expect it not to be true & think the sky is falling in when it is. This is the reality of being a mariner. The last boss didn't have this problem because people liked him. Id also suggest the loyalty people felt to LM stopped this level of public disgruntlement earlier on.

I've no problem with the reporting of fact, it's just that it's a non issue.
'business owes pissy debt, on track to pay by deadline' is not something to sweat about

I have to ask...how did the Stadium allow the debt to get that big anyway?....why didnt they pull the club up earlier and say WELL ! wheres the rent then?

200, 000 of the 300, 000 is for a screen way back in time .. as I posted earlier what modern stadium does not provide a screen especially for the rent they want for stadium usage.. looks to me like the Council playing hard ball over stadium rental and bringing to the bargaining table a old bill. The council hold all the cards and it appears the club and council do not get along.

Singo bailed and he sighted he was losing close to a million dollars a year and council wanted more rather than less further he was unable to reason with them... three tenders put in for control of the stadium from reports were less than half what council wanted...

The issues I guess are complex as council on behalf of ratepayers wants the best return on investment ... on the other hand what can the market bear...

I just get the feeling the line the council put out about providing as much help as possible is looking BS ... and I don't think MC has done a clever job in negotiation either and has tried to crash through, however I think what he wanted was a reasonable rental charge and assumed the council would support him, which has not happened.

Finally and I post this as rumour repeat rumour repeat rumour and even then not sure ... however here goes .. many of the key decision makers at the council do not want Football to get control of what they see as a Rugby League stadium.

Why is it that people don't like this boss? Is it the scattergun communications, the repeatedly stated desire to erode the commitment to the Central Coast (and rumours of wanting a move to another place entirely), the fights he's picked with CCF, FNSW, FFA, Council and anything else that moves? We get random brainfarts about talking to northern Sydney councils about moving games to their stadiums, we got rumours when he first arrived that he wanted to sell the club to South Melbourne, we hear about him and CCF with lawyers at ten paces.

A-League clubs run very lean, ours more than most. If he were able to level with the community and ask for some mutual trust, he'd have half as many problems. He'd probably get the credit he deserves for bailing the club out. But he needs to tell people about what's going on. Talk about 'the reality of being a mariner' and bring the community with him, rather than make like he has to fight against the community, the location, the economy of the area...

My understanding is that whenever the Council is about to discuss Mariners' issues the Mayor vacates the room due to a conflict of interest. May I suggest Lawrie McKinna stays in the room and knocks a few heads together?

I'm sorry but this club has always had poor communications. In fact it was the major gripe that we as a supporter base had with the club. Desire to erode commitment? That's your take on it, not necessarily the facts. Actually most of what you've got up there is rumor. We know more about what's going on with the club now than ever before. We got what we whined about for the last 4 years & we don't like it.
I can't see that it's been any different for our whole existence. We just hear about it now, all be it through the voice of an absolute twat

I completely lost as to how people think this is a non-issue.We as fans need to speak up and act.
Or we can just sit by while these issues keep coming and accept it.I know which one I'd rather.

What exactly are we supposed to act on? The bulk of the problems that we've had over the last 18 months stem from financial mismanagement under Turnbull - unless you've got $10-20m stashed away somewhere (or, say, 10 thousand extra people that you can suddenly bring to every home game) there isn't a whole lot that you can do about the current situation.

You don't need to 'make arrangements' if you can pay your bills.

The specific detail is news. Had you seen it reported before?

It's obviously true, because it's commented on specifically by the CEO, and as such there is clear detail and they've printed confirmed information and provided the club with an opportunity to comment.

It's fair reporting, even if the club wouldn't particularly like that it's in the paper.

News is printing something that someone doesn't want you to print. Everything else is public relations.

what ! that there was an argument over blue tongue ? that's over a year old . same dog , different leg action.
new year . re-hash old story . journalism 101

So what is it that you propose "we" do. Run to the media?

I find it funny that there are fans that still don't understand. Charlesworth is a complete twat. I don't agree with wanting to move games but understand why he is doing it. I don't agree with the way he has come out & basically challenged the public to get on or lose the club. His intentions were for the good of the club but alienated its core support.
As for having to speak up & act in the case of financial issues WHICH ARE ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF, maybe it's more a case of fans needing to have a grasp of reality. We are a regional area who will never garner large corporate or public support & will survive on the whim of owners & whether or not they are likeable or complete twats they will always struggle against the same problems. No cash flow.

I think Dibo has nailed the key [if that is the right word] issue. MC is arguably the worst communicator the club has ever had. However he is also one of the best idea's people the club has ever had i.e. the canon and band. Further he assumes we understand where and why he does what he does.

Maybe Bikigirl in her role can pass on the need to communicate better ...
