ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Turbulence (then calm sailing, then turbulence) thread.

meh, sound like it's dipped in a bit of reporting hype to me and is an issue that will be easily resolved
"the club has
agreed to a payment plan to clear the
debt by October 30.... Mariners chief executive Bruce Stalder
said the club is confident of repaying
the full amount before the start of the
season and is working closely with
Gosford City Council to find a solution."

Most definitely a non story. It's not new news. Agreement has been made. Someone decided to make it more juicy. If we don't pay it, then that's a story.

Newsflash: Mariners have no money! Shock horror. Cue gasps of astonishment.

Newsflash: Mariners & CCF don't agree. See above reaction.

I seriously think someone at SMH really doesn't like the Mariners. Is it just me? Am I reading too much into it?

The story is a non-story.

CCF owe CCM either $175,000 or $185,000 and around $38,000 to Football NSW. CCM owe Gosford Council around $100,000 for rental and $200,000 for ownership of the scoreboard/screen. So in reality CCM owe a nett $115,000 to $125,000.

In addition the club has agreed to a payment plan to clear the debt by October 30 and Mariners chief executive Bruce Stalder said the club is confident of repaying the full amount before the start of the season. Meanwhile CCF say they are about to sign an agreement to repay the debts outstanding and they’re taking back the academy program.

I just think this is another case of one party wanting to air the dirty laundry in the press to paint other parties in a bad light. At the end of the day I don’t know who is right or wrong – just they are disgruntled parties on both sides. Talks have been ongoing and methinks someone decided a bit of media attention might focus the minds.

Of more concern to me is that the level of detail in the story points to a source to close to in either CCF or CCM.:mad::mad:

Thats what I mean. A non-story spouting "Mariners are in the hole and their local federation hates them!" stuff again. It feels like someone at SMH has an agenda against us or really likes pushing this Mariners are broke angle.

The detail of this stuff is being publicly aired for the first time. It's against a background of similar stories. It's news.

The frustrating thing is that there's still Turnbull-era debts hanging around. What else did he leave behind?
I think MC is the type to not throw a single cent away unless necessary. He will stick to the terms of whatever debts are owing, even if they are there for years to come.
His thinking is probably why pay debt down now when he doesn't have to? If everything is done by the due date then there is no problem.

That's my guess anyway.

You don't need to 'make arrangements' if you can pay your bills.

The specific detail is news. Had you seen it reported before?

It's obviously true, because it's commented on specifically by the CEO, and as such there is clear detail and they've printed confirmed information and provided the club with an opportunity to comment.

It's fair reporting, even if the club wouldn't particularly like that it's in the paper.

News is printing something that someone doesn't want you to print. Everything else is public relations.

No. News is printing something that nobody knows yet. None of this is a shock. We are a poor club. We know that. Arrangements are made for the payment of something, each year.
The details themselves would have been available for anyone who had the desire to search them out.
It's not that the club would have been unhappy about them coming out. It's more that there is a party around that want the club (certain parts of it) to suffer & they are jumping at every chance they get.

It's true, it's of interest to people who are interested in the state of the club and the league and these details hadn't yet been reported.

The problem is that it's true, not that someone's writing about it.

The amounts are very small in the grand scheme of things - a small fraction of the annual budget - they're not enough to justify anything drastic, it's more a "can you please get your shit together" kind of thing.

I am starting to feel some of the frustration that MC must be feeling.

We now pay from all reports a decent amount for the stadium hire..

What modern stadium does not come with a screen FFS ... and 200K [ie 2/3] of the money is from what appears a desire to suddenly say give us the money back...

Then there appears to be a massive disconnect between the association and the club... a local client told me the guy the runs the association has an ego and opinion of himself that is not helping...

No, I think the two young jock journos writing football articles in the SMH are *very* Sydney centric, one for SFC :vomit: and one for WSW :vomit:. They will always be biassed overwhelmingly negative against any other teams. :tinfoilhat:

(Just did a search of their articles and for some very strange reason neither of them have any stats at all for their WSW articles. Other teams incl. SFC but not WSW. How Odd? )
